Stacking the Shelves and Other Weekly Shenanigans (and a poll!) (41)

STS2

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It gives us a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or got for review each week. Ah, what a lovely week for books! Not only was it Christmas (hence a book haul) but I won a few books, got a few for review, yes, this book nerd is happy. She also is officially out of shelf space, so I guess the new bookcase has to go up ASAP! Onto the books!

Weekly Shenanigans

Well, it was of course Christmas this week, so things have been busy! I didn’t read much sadly, but I read 22914373 and 20642557. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Soulprint, it was a fast paced, intriguing read and I stayed up way too late reading it. Full review to come closer to release date! Christmas was lovely, I got some books, a new bookshelf (thank goodness!) and my mom’s desperate hope that I will some day cook with some kitchen gadgets (Sorry, not sorry mom.)  Oh, and these kids probably want to wish you all happy holidays (come on, I’d be crazy not to show them off!):

On the Blog:

There are still giveaways going on, so check that out too!

Up Next:

Come on, do I ever know? Some reviews, namely The Darkest Part of the Forest, Snow Like Ashes, and who knows what else. Also, I have a discussion in mind, but I am so waiting for the new year so it can count toward my discussion challenge total!

And now, a poll! I have a gift card, and can probably buy three of these books, but I am the worst at decisions, so… help a girl out!

Which books shall I buy?

  1. Looks like you had a very merry Christmas indeed. The kids look really happy. Congrats on the wins. I’m trying to avoid NG/EW if I can, but I always fail.

    Grace @ Books of Love

  2. FORBIDDEN! Such a beautiful novel, one of my all-time favorites. I also enjoyed Love and Other Unknown Variables, Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless and These Broken Stars. Stolen Songbird’s another fabulous read, probably my favorite read of 2014.

Aw your kids are adorable. Happy holidays!

  3. First, I voted for Kiss Of Deception because it’s one of the books Santa brought me and I haven’t read anything ln the poll!

Sounds like you had an awesome holiday and your kids are adorable!

Santa brought me a few books which I’m so excited to read them all! I feel like next year I’m going to need to ask for bookshelves rather than books! =(

New Years is always really low key for me, basically sitting around, watching the ball fall on TV and fantasizing about which fictional character I would like to kiss at midnight!

    • Haha I was JUST thinking about needing so many more bookshelves. We started to put up the one my mom got me, and it *might* last me a few months. But not even after my Book Outlet order comes, and all my preorders. Ugh! I mean, it is a good problem to have, but still 🙂 Glad you got new books too!

  4. Ohh, I was hopeless on the poll. >_< So I said save it for preorders, lol BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE MAKING DECISIONS EITHER. Awww, your little small fries are ADORABLE. You would be crazy not to show them off. 😉

AFJKDLSAFD FOR HALF WILD! XD lol But I didn't mean to make you feel bad with my instagram comment. lol!! I will be patient *dies quietly* until it comes out. I should probably not overhype myself, though, right?!! Erk.

    • Awww no, you didn’t! I was just joking around too! Stupid internet ::grumbles like an old lady:: And I mean, you can and should hype sequels! I have like, a 60% success rate with hyping sequels, so more in the positive, right?

And don’t worry about making decisions. I can’t either. There is a 99% chance that I will purchase every one of those books by the next StS 😉

  5. I voted for Kiss of Deception because I really want to read it too! I’m so jealous of Half Wild. I really want to get my hands on a copy! I hope you enjoy these books!

    • Thanks! Kiss of Deception is definitely winning, and my ability to keep the gift card and not spend it is spiraling downward haha, so it will probably happen sooner than later. Hope you can read Half Wild soon!

  6. Great haul! I really want to read Love and Other Unknown Variables, it sounds really good! I thought about getting Paperweight too, but wasn’t sure about it, I may go back and download it though 🙂

    • I agree, it does sound good! I haven’t heard much about Paperweight, but it had intrigued me before I saw it for review (that is my rule- I have to have already wanted it before I request, otherwise I will request ALL the books!) so I requested it.

  7. My gift cards and money are burning holes in my pockets! I know there are tons of awesome books coming in 2015, but I feel the need to buy all the books NOW! I voted for Loop, Kiss of Deception and Princess of Thorns. Great haul, btw. I really want to read I Remember You. Enjoy your books and have a happy New Year!

    Michelle @ Michelle’s Minions

    • Thanks, happy new year to you too! So far, I am holding strong! I bought Loop, and I bought In the Shadow of Blackbirds (but I didn’t use my gift card for it!) so I still have some left over. I think Princess of Thorns and Kiss of Deception are the front runners, although so is saving it! Ah, decisions 😉

  8. SAVE THE GIFT CARDDDDDDD.

LOOK AT THAT CHRISTMAS HAUL. Also, have you read These Broken Stars? BECAUSE IF YOU HAVEN’T I would like to see what you think of it. I don’t remember if you did read it. ANYWAYS. LOOK AT THOSE LITTLE KIDDIES. SO CUTE! Are they the kids you read The Berenstain Bears too? Adorable squishes.

I HOPE YOU HAD AN AMAZING HOLIDAY SHANNON. It looks like you have hahah.

    • No, I have not! I am excited to though! They are indeed the kids I read Berenstain Bears to 😉 Well, not Sammy so much, because he could not care less. But Lena is a BIG Berenstain Bears fan. She might have more books than I do, and that is saying a lot!

  9. I really enjoyed Bumped! Of course I’ve yet to read the sequel, but hopefully 2015 is the year I make that happen. Hope you enjoy all your new books and happy new year!!

  10. YES These Broken Stars!!! I love that series 😀 I can’t wait to read This Shattered World. I finished Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless this week and it is SO adorable. Definitely a perfect fluffy, hilarious read <3 I also received Paperweight on EW – I’m BEYOND excited to read it, even though I’ve actually never heard of it before seeing it for request 😛

Okay and I voted for The Infinite Sea, Loop, and saving for preorders for your gift card, but I think I’ll recommend Zodiac as well! I’m in the middle of it right now though so I’m not sure about my final opinion yet 😛

    • Hahah I will probably end up doing all of the above: pre-ordering a bunch of books, and still spending it anyway 😉 I am so excited to read the books since you’ve enjoyed them, and I hope you love This Shattered World!

  11. Merry Christmas! Your little ones are so adorable 🙂

If you haven’t read Altered yet, girl you need to! I stayed up all night reading that one. I pre-ordered the third and it totally helps that the covers are gorgeous.

Love and Other Unknown Variables sounds pretty good. The cover is eerily similar to Jennifer E. Smith’s novel so I want to buy it just to compare and shelf it together.

Were you approved for the Darkest Part of the Forest tour?

I haven;t read Half Bad yet but I am jealous you have the second book. My favorite color is green and I do love wolves.

    • Thank you so much! I know, I really do need to read it! It has been on my TBR forever. Like, seriously since I started using Goodreads.

And nope, I wasn’t approved 🙁 Womp womp. But that’s okay, at least I got to read the book! Were you?

  12. I just got These Broken Stars too! I’m so curious to hear what you’ll think about the 100 book! I’ve been putting it off because of so many mixed reviews.

I love cheap Kindle books. I got Stolen Songbird too! (and like a dozen others)

I’m glad you had a nice Christmas. Your kids are so cute! Of course you have to show them off! Such pretty blue eyes!

Yeah, my cooking never goes well. I keep trying though.
