The 100 Episode 5×02: Red Queen

Just a reminder, spoilers galore!! Like ALL the spoilers- proceed with caution!

Holy. Crap. Did all of that just happen? I think it did. I thought that Eden was a truly fabulous episode, and yet somehow this one blew it out of the water and I am high key scared about how amazing this season has been so far. Like it’s blowing my mind, in all the best ways. And I am gushing basically.

“There are too many people in this bunker.”

Look, the bunker was never going to be fun, I think we can all agree on that. Raven was going to float herself rather than go in there, so. But it was… tolerable, for at least the first 46 days I suppose. Then Clarke comes along. Yes, we see what was happening inside the bunker as Clarke was desperately trying to get in from the outside. Wonkru delegates are having a meeting, apparently about blanket thievery?

Does this not take us back to the free-spirited Octavia from the days of yore?

But then! The very deep meeting is interrupted by the banging from outside. Once Kane realizes what the noise is, it’s time to go say hi!

Just kidding, it’s time to realize that they’re completely trapped in the bunker, with the ruins of Polis blocking them ever getting out. That little bit of news throws everyone into a frenzy, as you’d imagine. Because okay, five years you can tolerate. Your whole damn life? Not so much. We get to meet Kara, a pissed off hydrofarm worker who… well, she doesn’t quite agree with Abby’s decision to open the door for O, Kane, and Wonkru.

So she locks everyone out of the life-sustaining level except for (most of) Skaikru and she’s not sorry. She even chains Kabby up because she kind of hates them but she doesn’t want to kill her own people. (Incidentally, this isn’t exactly a morality concept she hangs onto for very long.) So, Jaha, O, Indra, basically everyone who isn’t totally batshit in the bunker, get together to form a plan to take this silly bitch’s leverage away. Only it doesn’t end well for everyone.

#JahaOut

I’m going to go ahead and say it, and you can argue with me in the comments but…. I love Jaha and I don’t care who knows it. And I am sad. Look, I think this was the end of his story, and I know it was a good call, but it’s still sad. (Except I guess for all of you who hated him and are glad, but that is not me, so.)

I think as soon as most of us saw blood, we knew Jaha’s minutes were numbered, yes? I nearly missed his assault actually- some random Grounder stabbed him with… whatever that metal thingy was in his hand. We don’t even see Jaha’s injury until the next scene where he’s looking at blueprints with the Sanity Gang. But he’s a man on a mission and he doesn’t let a little thing like a fatal wound get in his way. He’s got a plan, but it involves Gaia and Indra leading the Grounders away, and him and O getting to some kind of machine to open the locked doors.

I like the understanding that he and O have come to. Especially after their last meeting in The Chosen, I expected nothing but turmoil between these two, and I was happily wrong. He helps her understand what she needs to do. Here’s the thing about Jaha: he knew his people better than a lot of them knew themselves. He used it for good many times, and yes, he also manipulated it for less noble causes (City of Light, anyone?) but here, he uses it to his advantage one last time, by shining a light on how Octavia can be a leader in her own right. He basically passes the torch, and it’s lovely.

After insisting that O take care of the Grounder threat before he opens the door (which, let’s be real, is a good call), she does her thing. Then, he opens the door, his friends rush to his side, and he asks Marcus to take him home. It’s perfect. He’s gone out saving Skaikru from themselves, saving the Grounders (ironically, at the expense of some of his people, which speaks volumes and no you’re crying). He does right by Ethan, and he gets to go be with his wife and Wells. I couldn’t have asked for a better sendoff.

“You are Wonkru or you are the enemy of Wonkru.”

Do I love that Jaha’s advice is shaping everything that has happened in the bunker for 6 years? Yes I freaking do. Granted, it was ultimately Octavia’s decision to make, which makes it an even more powerful moment.

Obviously O will have to lead… differently than Jaha. Differently even than past Commanders, because even though she’s ruling over Wonkru, she’s ruling over people trapped in some pretty horrible conditions. They’re trapped, they’re scared, and frankly they don’t wish to play nice with their neighbor. Outside, they’d had miles of land to separate them from other clans. Here, any past (or current, nice job stealing those blankets, Delfikru) grudges are going to be in each others’ faces all the time. And some people clearly feel they have nothing left to lose.

Jaha’s literal last request of Octavia was that she diffuse the Grounder situation before opening the doors. And she knows what the enemy is: The enemy is anyone who doesn’t stand with Wonkru. So she kills everyone who stands against her, who stands against Wonkru.

After the doors are open, she refuses to let Kara kill herself- instead, she has Kara, and every other adversary of Wonkru meet in the rotunda, all of Wonkru looking on from above. And they assume she’s going to execute them, but no, she has other plans. Most of them will die, yes. But some will earn their spot back, by fighting to the death. And wouldn’t you know….

Guess she’s down with killing Skaikru when her own ass is on the line… ?

6 Years Later…

Well, if this isn’t a horror show! The motley crew surrounding Octavia as she sits on her throne of blood is straight up bonkers. Miller. Gaia. Kara. Ethan. What is happening?!

But before we can even really ponder that… KANE?!?!  Why the hell, how the hell, has Kane landed himself in this arena of nightmares? Where’s Abby? Where’s Niylah? Where’s Jackson? Indra has a very pained look on her face. Because this is her freaking bestie in that hellscape! This show is totally killing it with answering our questions and then giving us tons of new ones. Really, insanely well done.

How did our beautifully-coiffed hero end up here?!

Friends in Low Places

Get it, cause they’re in the bunker? Ahem, anyway. We got to see so many new and existing relationships (both friendships and romances) develop during this episode. Some of these I didn’t even know how much I needed in my life. Some I did know I needed and my wishes have been granted. Let’s talk about them all!

Octavia & Miller

Holy shit have these two come a long way. Remember back when Miller was a one-man guard service, refusing to let O near Lincoln? Until she had to get him all high on Jobi nuts? Good times. Frankly, they seemed to not need anything to do with each other from then on out. And this little camaraderie? I approve. Him being one of O’s guards now, but like, a wanted guard, shows so much growth. And I dig the training montages!

Mackson

It has SAILED, y’all!

And frankly, it’s as perfect as I’d assumed. These two just work, in part because of how different they are. Miller acknowledges that Jackson is “a healer, not a fighter”. Jackson and Miller both deserve this happiness, honestly. Jackson has been alone (not just romantically either- does he have friends other than Abby?) for far too long, and Miller has lost too much. His Dad, Bryan when he was eaten by that two-bodied bear…

Octylah

Fine, it is too soon to call this one an actual ship but shush. Niylah is giving O meaningful presents and is also risking her damn life to be at O’s side, so if you say there’s nothing happening there, sorry, you’re lying. Just like Mackson, Niylah and Octavia would work so well because Niylah would be the calm to O’s storm, and I just need it, okay?

Kabby

Ohh, my Kabby-shipping heart is so very happy. Abby is still pretty peeved that Kane… didn’t let her burn to death? I mean, I get the whole business about choices, but come on, Abby. Of course he didn’t put one of the only doctors who happened to be the love of his damn life out into Praimfaya! And luckily, Kane tells her so.

Now our girl gets it!

Because of course she’d have done the same thing. And even though I am side-eyeing Kara pretty hard, she is responsible for this Kabby moment and I suppose we have to thank her or something.

Gaia/Indra/Octavia

Aw, look at this little fam, getting cozy in the bunker! Just kidding, they love to disagree. Gaia is still clinging onto the Ghosts of Hedas Past, and is far too hung up on the color of Octavia’s blood. She’s none to happy with Indra for trying to make it happen, either. But… Gaia is nothing if not progressive and open-minded. And eventually, she switches alliances to Team Blodreina, and even kind of gets her mother to understand what O is trying to accomplish. Can we hope for some kind of sisterly slumber parties before the bunker empties?

Just look at these strong, beautiful women.

Jaha & Octavia

Did I ever in a million years think that I needed these two to form a bond? Hell no. Am I so, so glad it happened? Hell yes. And of course I talked about it more above,  but… can you believe how these two have grown? Jaha was the guy who floated her mom for goodness sake. But I think, just like Clarke finally understood why Jake was floated last season, Octavia really starts to understand some of Jaha’s decisions now that she’s the leader. Plus I will never be sorry for getting to enjoy Jaha and Octavia Adventure Time™.

Random Thoughts:

  • So, Abby is addicted to painkillers, yeah? At first I thought maybe it was just a line to show concern, but when she’s being held prisoner and she’s begging Jackson for pills… yeah, there’s a problem.
  • Niylah has a cart. This is the General Store I have longed for since hearing about the bunker, and we’re just going to have to assume that Indra is on the Board of Directors.
  • Ethan is like, the most orphany orphan of all time. Mom’s dead, dad just died, 46 days later Uncle Theo dies… yikes. I swear if Niylah gets run over by her cart, it will be no wonder that Ethan turned into… whatever the hell he turned into.

Song of the Week:

I may have forgotten to do this last week? I had picked a song from the actual episode, Science/Visions by Chvrches, and even had a tab open with the video and then… oops.

This week, I remembered! Actually- from the minute I saw the episode I knew which song I was choosing. It’s called Me and the Devil by Soap&Skin, and I think that the ambiance totally fits. (Also, it’s from a show I am going to talk about soon in one of those big non-The 100 show posts, yay!)

 Episode 5×03: Sleeping Giants

I have heard talk that Sleeping Giants is even more epic than Red Queen, which was somehow even more epic than Eden, and Idk guys I think The 100 is trying to kill me maybe? But it will be a good death, so.

Did you adore Red Queen as much as I did? Is anyone joining me in crying over Jaha? Is your body ready for Sleeping Giants? Let’s talk!

  1. This is, I think, one of my favorite episodes of ever. They haven’t lost their touch- Skaikru and Grounders still hate each other and will screw each over on the regular any chance they get! *nods approvingly* and does the bunker remind you of Mt. Weather?? I was loving all the tunnels and shit. I hope they stay in there a while… 🙂 Seriously though this season is off to a BANG UP start. I just wish I could binge the whole thing right now.

Okay specifics. Yes Octavia was SO practical- like just give the blankets back, you idiots lolol. They’re all like wanting to go to war over blankets *stupid Grounders*. How do ya lead that mess? No wonder they had to go to Arena of Blood. And the Clarke thing shook me- with all the rubble, I didn’t think they’d actually hear her BANGING on the hatch or whatever. Wow poor Abby… and I agree about Jaha. He’s now helped both Clarke AND O become better leaders, or at least realize what it takes to lead. He went out well, but who’s going to chuck random people out of boats now???

Oh and Kara is next to O after the 6 years?? Ooh I missed that! She must be like a lieutenant now or something. Interesting. Also she’s up by O and Kane is in the arena? Did he get himself into trouble?? It will be interesting to see if Indra has to choose between loyalty to O and helping Kane… and I am HERE for Octylah, as you know. I was very happy to see them spend some time on niylah. Now we just need to see her store.

Oh and Gaia/Indra/O- those three can RUN that bunker! Here for that too.

    • RIGHT, how was this so GOOD?! And from every single thing I hear, Sleeping Giants is supposed to be even more epic, and HOW? It does have a bit of a Mt Weather vibe- probably because they had to be built similarly to sustain radiation? But the bunker is even more of a mystery at this point, I also hope we get to see a lot more of it. I am actually a little glad that we can’t binge it? Only because then it would be over so quickly and we’d have to wait forever for the next season! (OH! Speaking of, I heard that there might be an announcement on renewal on May 17th, so… cross your fingers!)

SERIOUSLY though, the Grounders are so… illogical. And it’s kind of sad that everyone’s bullshit (including Skaiku’s of course) led O to have to be… Blodreina. I didn’t think they’d hear Clarke either, I assumed that it was pretty soundproof, but I suppose maybe the bit over the door is metal, it makes sense. That was hard to watch for Abby- but I love how hopeful she is! HA I kind of do wonder who will be the rabble-rouser in Jaha’s absence. I’d have said Kara, but she’s toeing the line at the moment- though we all know how quickly that can change!

YEP apparently she’s one of O’s personal guard, along with Miller, so THAT should be interesting. Have to wonder what Jackson thinks of all this. And where is Abby and why isn’t she with Kane and what is HAPPENING!!? I can’t believe that Indra would let Kane die in this stupid death chamber thing. Hell, I can’t believe that O would! You can see in both their faces that they aren’t happy about this though, so I definitely need to know how this came to be.

We DID see Niylah’s store! Jaha was fixing it! ? So it’s a store on wheels, I’ll take it! And yep, I LOVE them together, I really hope they develop this relationship. And Gaia looks like such a badass too now, I am so curious- and what kind of novitiate is Ethan, anyway!? So. Many. Questions!

      • Ooh ooh crossing fingers! Nice if they get it out of the way nice and early so we can sit back and expect more 100 goodness next year. And yes is the bunker HUGE or what? I mean they’re talking multiple levels, that room Jaha was in was huge, it’s obviously immense. I would love for them to find some secret passages or whatnot in there…

Yeah who will take Jaha’s place?? I’m trying to think who might step up, but frankly after Red Queen I’m thinking it might just be randos amongst Skaikru or the Grounders because… yeah. Those folks just don’t get along. 🙂 And I don’t trust Kara, she’s shady… 🙂

I have a feeling Kabby may have come out against O, I can’t see them being down with Arena of Death? Obviously we have to have some drama in there so my money’s on that…

Yes novitiate of what?? Is she making him like ready for the priesthood? Maybe they worship a death god now ha ha. But yeah Gaia is definitely tougher than she first appeared… and I like that Niylah is sort of an itinerant shopkeeper, but I kinda want her to have her own storefront. Seems like they have room, but maybe not. I guess you can’t have everything… 🙂

        • YES that is how I feel about it. I don’t need to wait forever for news. Though what if they don’t renew it? That would be the actual worst news of all time, no exaggeration. It’s scary. OOOH! You know- they could find some secret passages or something that could help them get OUT, that would be ideal! Like some escape route that Cadogan didn’t put on the main blueprints! I like it.

I think it could be randos too- or…. KANE. Because well, we do see him in the arena! And nope, no one gets along, I bet every couple days/weeks/months, O has to quell some big uprising from pissy Grounders. And NOPE I don’t trust Kara either! She’s obviously only in it for herself, and for now, it’s best for her to side with O. But when Gagarin comes into play… I have a feeling she won’t stay loyal if she thinks she can get a better deal elsewhere.

YEP I think you’re right about Kabby. There’s no way Abby OR Kane is putting up with killing for sport tbh. Like they’ll do what has to be done, but they’re not going to engage in THAT nonsense. I bet we don’t even get ANY Bunker time next week either, since it looks like we’re seeing Clarke versus Gagarin and… Spacekru versus Space?

RIGHT!? It doesn’t make sense! Is he training to be a leader? Like is he… O’s son at this point? The next Blodreina? Maybe they are planning to have a Conclave like the Natblidas used to? They’ve all lost their damn minds though, whatever the case is. They probably DO have room, but can you imagine leaving the shop to go to sleep? Niylah’d come back every morning to all her shit stolen. She probably sleeps with the cart. Seems smart, considering the company.

          • Exactly! I was thinking the same thing about a way out- I mean Cadogan clearly was a skeevy fucker so I wouldn’t put it past him. I mean you had to be a certain level in the cult just to make the bunker right? And don’t say that about renewal- surely they have to renew, right? Righhhttt?????? lol

The arena must be the pressure valve- like if we don’t have Bloodmatch on a regular basis things boil over? Maybe it IS Kane wh objects or something and gets his ass thrown in there. And right about Kara.

Ha about the store! Effin Grounders would raid everything, so true! Personal ownership is clearly NOT respected in that culture. They’d have to put guards on it and the guards would probably not be reliable. And I have no idea where they’re going w/ Ethan but who knew it would even be an issue? I wonder if he and Madi will eventually… no, never mind.

            • HA I agree, I think the reason Jaha could analyze Cadogan’s moves so well is because he understood him so well! He even said it- “because that’s what I would do”! I mean… I *hope* it will be renewed? The numbers so far have been incredibly strong, it’s been outperforming even Riverdale, so. But I am afraid to get my hopes up too high, you know?

Ooooh that is a very good theory! Like, it gives the clans a chance to battle it out in a supervised, controlled way, that makes a lot of sense! Though I have to wonder what kind of idiot would volunteer for such a thing. Why do these people place such little value on their lives!? I have never understood that about Grounders.

They WOULD raid it all! I’m surprised that the whole damn cart has been stolen- hell that Niylah herself hasn’t been, you know how they are! I figured since Ethan would be older, he’d factor in a bit more, but this level is impressive- and I think with Jaha dying so early on (I assumed iit would be later, so this was a twist!) made Ethan even more part of the inner circle. And YES I thought the SAME THING with Madi! I mean, maybe not a for real relationship since they’re 12, but like, some kind of… what do you even call it? Puppy love? A crush? It’s no coincidence that there are two 12 year olds with different allegiances in this story!

              • Well we know now it’s been renewed! Thanks for sending me tha tweet. 🙂 Halle-frickin-lujah THAT’S settled. Oh and did you see 12 Monkeys is back on June 15th? Nirvana cometh. They’re releasing it over 4 weeks, three episodes every Friday. Guess I know what I’ll be doing friday nights in June!

Grounders are silly. Like we’ve talked about before, it’s only been what like a 100 years and change and they all act like it’s been GENERATIONS or something and that’s why they’re all warlike. I suspect they’re just the trump supporters that were left after the first Praimfaya and that explains their belligerence and unreliability :):)

Ha ha Niylah goes missing! And how about that for nuance- Jaha dies and asks O to raise him, and she raises him all right- into being a bloodthirsty little effer! Probs not what Jaha had in mind! Although maybe he won’t be so bad… and yeah like one of those early betrothal things, where they’re pledged to each other for when they’re older. I mean they probably won’t do THAT but maybe they’ll hint at it?? They are close in age!!!

                • Right!? I am SO HAPPY. We have never gotten a renewal this early in the season before! (To be fair, nor have we had this late of a season, but whatever, I’ll take it!) Oh my goodness, you saw the 12 Monkeys thing even before I sent it to you hahahah, but either way, YAY! I do wonder why they decided to release it in 3 episode increments though- and 11 episodes is such a random number hah. And since the finale is 2 hours… why didnt they just call it 12 episodes? Would have made sense, especially since it’s called 12 Monkeys.

HAH I would laugh so hard if the Grounders were just a bunch of racist assholes ? Though I think if anything, they’d be the opposite. Probably just some hippies who refused to leave. And then when they realized how hard life is without weed and central heat, and avocado toast, they became… the opposite and started freaking out and killing each other.

That was the one part that kind of upset me a little- Jaha would be PISSED if he knew how Ethan turned out. Though also, like father, like son? Oooooh maybe that is how they make peace, marry off their youngest group members hahah. There has to be SOME kind of at least friendship, something there. OR maybe they hate each other, but there;s got to be something to it, you wouldn’t just have two random kids of the same age on a show where kids basically don’t exist!

                  • Yeah I don’t know what 12 Monkeys is doping but it’s BACK in like 5 weeks- and I am here for it! I missed the gang. 🙂 Especially crazy Jennifer and batshit Olivia ha! But yeah I don’t know what they’re doing with the episode releasing- different.

Ooh I like Grounders as former stoners!

Yeah yet another theory to parse! Now we have KIDS on the show to worry about FFS!

  2. GOD THAT EPISODE. I LOVED THE FIRST TWO. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I kinda really adored Octavia in RED QUEEN and I’m a stunned cookie because of it?? The Jaha/Octavia relationship was so interesting to see and the different leaderships and the thought process of the different characters added so much layer to that timeline-storyline that they wanted to tell. I rooted for OCTAVIA for it feels like the first time in forever?? and i kinda like that?? It’s exhausting not liking her character but she made it so hard for me in the last seasons because of (Reasons) but THIS ARC OF HERS IN THIS SEASON COULD BE REALLY GOOD AND FASCINATING.

Also, that title. RED QUEEN: SO COOL: SO TRUE. Again, also: Jaha. My man. Such a compex character and I can’t say that there wasn’t a time when I was so mad at him/didn’t like him/was disgusted by his actions but his overall storyline and his way of thinking was something else. Something that was incredibly grotesque while still showing human emotions. Definitely the personified human version of “There are no good guys” and the quote that you know: only depens on which side you’re on.

I’m so excited for everything. (Also, super nervous because my Bellarke heart is going crazy with all the Becho drama in the fandom and I don’t want the @Angst right now. But let’s keep that on the backburner for now.) Relationships I’m interested in are totally Octavia/Niylah, Raven/Murphy, Octavia/Miller, Clarke/Madi and possibly Octavia/Clarke (I have this hope that she understands Clarkes decisions/behavior/struggles a little better now that she knows what it’s like to be in a leader position.) SIX YEARS IS SO LONG. GOSH. I’m stoked for the third episode. Keeping my fingers crossed that it’s going to be just as good as the last ones. <3

    • Oh my goodness, SAME! I thought I’d hate her after hearing about how violent everything is in the bunker and such, but NOPE, she was incredible! It’ll be very interesting to see how this progresses over the 6 years though- and how on earth Kane ended up in the arena, with neither O nor Indra stopping it! I definitely agree, her story arc is much more complex than it was last season- last season it was all about blood and revenge, but even though it’s still super dark, it’s about SO much more than that!

Jaha… oy, what a loaded character he ended up being! Like, I totally get why people don’t like him, I just think that he isn’t a bad dude, he was just… well frankly sometimes he acted really dumb and let his pride and need to lead get in the way of what was *actually* best for his people, but I don’t think he did any of it out of malice, so. I was often angry at his choices, but I liked him at the end of the day.

GAH, I feel you- the Becho nonsense is going to kill me. It’s the only thing I haven’t liked so far this season. Honestly, it feels forced? I just don’t see the chemistry there. And of course, Bellarke! BUT I also know that they’re never giving us Bellarke this early, so I just hope Becho isn’t *too* nauseating! I agree with you about seeing O and Clarke’s reunion! They will have a LOT to talk about I assume hahah. I really hope that like you said, O understands Clarke better after this- and vice versa- now that they’re both leaders. And MURVEN, yessss I need more of it always. And Octylah, that needs to become a real thing. No teasing like they did with Sea Mechanic! I am so excited too, I have heard that Ep 3 is even MORE epic somehow!?

      • SAME. Especially to the interested to see how Kane ended up in the arena part. I mean: what?? Octavia and Kane are relatively close (or used to be) so I can’t imagine what could’ve happened but on the other hand: it is 6 years and so much can happen in that timeline.

I definitely feel you on the Jaha front. I found him incredibly interesting in the beginning because of his grieve and almost-insanity (aka when he heard a baby aka Wells crying) and the whole leader of the Ark thing and that difference/similarities aspect of his and Bellarkes leadership but THEN he got a little crazy for my taste and his pushing that one guy out of the boat thing and siding my ALIE, you know, that was a tough time. GOSH but this episde!! The really tugged at my heart strings.

Becho, oh nope. We all knew that it was going to happen. The whole fandom. But it still hurt. Especially because the love for Bellarke is already “established” and everybody only knows Echo’s characters as the follower or the one that threatened to slit Clarkes throat and almost killed Octavia. I have no emotional connection to them as a couple – just like when Bellamy was with Gina – and I just think it’s so sad to do that storyline. I don’t want that love triangle drama, I don’t want to dislike Echo just because she stands in the way and is used as this plot devise to seperate Bellarke in their friendship/relationship for awhile before they find their groove again. I recognize that Echo could be interesting as a character because she was Ice Nation with her culture, her upbringing and her finding out where she fits in now that her “old life” is gone – but I just can’t see that focus now that she was put with Bellamy. She will always be the Bellamys exgirlfriend-character now (after they break up) and thats just really exhausting.

To end on a good note (lol) after all that jazz: MURPHY AND RAVEN. I’m so excited for their friendship and the possibility of maybe more between them?? Their dynamic is soo precious to me and their interactions have so much potential. Such complex history between them. Such complex feelings that developed into positivity. They came such a long way.

        • Yes exactly! Kane was always a bit of a father figure to O, and I can’t imagine that she’d throw him in there- but then I also assume he isn’t very keen on her idea of killing for funsies, either. So maybe he made a fuss and she threw him in? I don’t know but I hope we find out soon! I have a feeling there won’t be much- if any- bunker time this week, sadly.

I agree, Jaha made some VERY questionable choices for sure. Though I think he did them all from a place of genuine desire to help his people. Like- I think he almost wanted to save Murphy as he’d wished he could have saved Wells, and so he figured… well, screw Craig, he’s sea monster food. And ALIE, I don’t think he had any idea what she was capable of until AFTER she gave him the key. You know what a sneak she could be hah- I doubt she was truthful about her plans beforehand. And I think he trusted her because of her connection to the Ark, you know? (I feel like I am Jaha’s defense lawyer or something hahhah)

YES exactly with Becho. She was going to kill basically EVERYONE closest to Bellamy- and nearly did kill Octavia! She betrayed him over and over and over, and then for him to just space-marry her? NOPE. I get that it was 6 years, but come ON. What will happen on the ground? She’s just totally loyal to Spacekru now? If so, only because Roan banished her and O knows it, so she can’t be Azgeda. If Roan was suddenly alive, she’d drop Spacekru like a bad habit. And YEP, you made SUCH a good point about her as a character- we WILL only be seeing her from the ex-lover angle instead of all the amazing development she could have had on her own. It is the ONLY choice so far this season that I am not a fan of. I mean- look at how far Emori came, how much more interesting she is solo!?

YESSSS I am with you completely on Murphy and Raven! I have loved their dynamic since season 1, and this relationship, with the snark and banter (but like you said, in a positive way now!) is just awesome. A definite highlight, and I can’t wait to see more of it! And I do really want them to develop into more than friends, because the chemistry is definitely there, but I think Raven is going to end up with that Gagarin dude, ugh.

“Jaha’s defense lawyer” lmao. I don’t even want to think the term “space-marry” lol. I’m not that decided yet on the “where Echos loyalties would lie” front because I do think that after 6 years in Space she sees them as her “people” (or at least Bellamy because they are “involved”) and she would protect them/him etc. BUT I also think that it’s going to be interesting to see what changes on the ground, how she is going to interact with the Bunker crew (Octavia especially because bad history) and with Clarke (who she knows from before and knows how close Bellamy and her were) and Madi (who she didn’t know before but could maybe relate to and who is also really close to Clarke now). I think that all the new dynamics – and maybe old ones resurfacing – could/would confuse someone (aka Echo) and — I forgot where I was going with that. Ahh, found it again: it could be difficult for her to stand with Bellamy and SpaceKru after the (possible) hostility that she is going to face from BunkerCrew *cough* Octavia *cough* (and maybe Clarke) and she is going to question her place with Bellamy/SpaceKru now that they are back on the ground again (and not stuck in close proximity.) It’s going to be interesting to see how everything falls into place and I’m nervous.

  3. I liked Jaha in this episode, so I’ll just pretend I didn’t hate him in past seasons and leave it at that. Now I just can’t wait for Wonkru to get back out of the bunker so they can eliminate the criminals—you know that the true battle is going to be with them now.

OK, halp, what happened to Miller’s previous boyfriend? I remember the “are we good” (no, we are freaking *not* good that you saved a handful of Skaikru slaves at the expense of everyone) exchange between them but then I never saw the boyfriend again. Did I miss an episode??
