Weekly Shenanigans

This week, I read books great books. Seriously, a banner week for reading around here. First, I finally joined the rest of the world and finished 18621194. It was good, but there were a lot of wholly bad characters. Half Bad is kind of a lie, just for the record. I also read 22465597 and 19286673, both of which I loved in very different ways. More on those later, of course!

In addition to my book purchases (oops?) I also bought some lovely items for my #OTSPSecretSister today!! It was a win for us both: she gets fun items sent to her house, and I was able to wander around the bookstore alone for a solid hour. Heaven.

On the Blog

Also, today is the LAST DAY to enter the January New Release Giveaway! Still a few more days to link up to win in the January giveaway for the Discussion Challenge!

Up Next:

  • February’s Discussion Link-Up and Giveaway are being typed out right now (like I am actually doing both at once, true story).
  • I join the FFBC blog tour for I Remember You by Cathleen Davitt Bell on Friday
  • Lots of reviews. Or a few. At least one for sure.
  • I have an idea for a discussion topic, so hopefully I can get it all organized in time. This one involves all of YOU!
  • All NEW Snark From the Ark!! Did you miss last week’s? You catch catch it here!
How was your week? Any new and exciting books find their way to your shelves? And um, is it freezing where you live? It is supposed to be -8 here on Sunday night. And of course, snow. Always snow.

  1. Nice haul! I’m looking forward to reading Sweet and In a World Just Right. I’m so glad you liked Loop and Vanishing Girls, those are both near the top of my tbr pile, it nice to hear good things, it gives me something to look forward to! Have a great weekend!

    Michelle @ Michelle’s Minions

    • Ohh those are two good ones to have on deck! I really liked them both. Loop was a really fun book, and Vanishing Girls captivated me. I think some people will find it a little slow, but Lauren Oliver just draws me in! Thanks, hope your weekend was great 🙂

  2. Definitely interested in reading Sweet and 99 Days. I’ve actually seen those two around. I guess the pub must be starting to accept/deny requests now! There’s so much hype around Half Bad so I don’t know if I want to read it. I have it on my shelf but still

    • I enjoyed Half Bad, but I’ll be honest, it wasn’t as amazing as everyone made it out to be. (Ugh, the hype monster!) Good, yes. Amazing… not quite. Worth the read though, I’d say.

  3. SO MANY BEAUTIFUL BOOKS THOUGH. gahhhh. I’m really not keeping up with 2015 releases this year, but I’m okay with that. XD I’m reading a lot of older books and just tryign to generally slow down and staaaay away from Netgally/Edelweiss. lol I love them but reading on my ipod is a pain. hah. I REALLY want to read Cut Me Free though, so definitely hanging out for your review of that.

    • That is impressive! I have gone a bit nuts with wanting all the NEW, SHINY books, likely because I only started requesting a few months ago, and it’s still a bit new. I do wish I had more access to physical books though, my Kindle is okay, but meh. I like holding a book. I suppose the 160+ books on my shelf IS access though…. oops?

  4. I feel like there’s some kind of spell on the Bookoutlet site that forces people to buy books, it’s really the only thing that makes sense! But, so many pretty books! I’m really glad you enjoyed Vanishing Girls, I’m hoping to start it next week sometime.

I wish I had snow! It’s not all that cold here and it depresses me because I love cold and snow! =(

    • GAH they do! They must! It’s like I assume crack would be? And yes, Vanishing Girls was a HUGE win for me, though it does move a bit slower. I didn’t mind because I could ingest words by Lauren Oliver all day 😉

And PLEASE take the snow away.

  5. Ooh Landline. <3 I want it so much. I got an email notification for two of the books I've been dying to read that finally came in and….of course I have no money. *sighs* My luck. This happened with Landline too, right after I bought books and ran out of money, Book Outlet conveniently got in 100+ copies of Landline.

I have 99 Days too. 🙂 I just love that cover for In A World Just Right.

Ha, "Half Bad is kind of a lie, just for the record", funny.

I still need to review When Reason Breaks sometimes this month too. I'm still so glad you introduced me to the Dove Arising cover. I'll have to check out your review for it.

I can't wait to see what discussion you have planned. 🙂

My week has been okay. I've checked out some e-books from the library which is so nice. It is freezing where I live. And there's snow here. And sleet. And rain. All three, just in one day. God I LOVE the midwest.

    • That happened to me with Landline twice so far! AND with Vicious! No worries, it’ll come back around 🙂 I am hoping that I can get to the discussion thing, but it is REALLY time consuming, so it’s going to be a close call for this week! Fingers crossed!

It is going to snow a FOOT tonight, supposedly. Can it just not be winter anymore? (For the record, the northeast is not much better!)

  6. Ooh yay for In A World Just right! I’ve seen that one around a lot lately and I really want to read it. I have 99 Days as well–I’ve heard pretty good things for it so I do hope we both enjoy it, Shannon!

Have an excellent week, luv <33

    • Hahha Cut Me Free was archived the day they approved me (I had forgot I’d even requested it it had been so long ago), so you’ll have to buy that one, I suppose. But Sweet is there!

  7. Sweet sounds Amazing!

I just bought a copy of Loop for $4, so I am now uber excited to read your review. I’ve heard nothing but good things.

Nice Haul! There werent many Kindle ebook sales this week which is sad.

  8. Yay for the books! But please, say you’re going to review The Infinite Sea. I’ve been holding myself back from buying it since I saw mixed reviews about it everywhere. I loved The 5th Wave but I don’t know I’m going to love he sequel. :/

  9. LANDLINE WOOOO. I liked that book. I think you will like it too! I’ve read all of Rainbow Rowell’s books, surprisingly, and even though Landline is adult, I liked it even though I didn’t exact relate to it.
