Um, there probably won’t be any of those things that the title says in this post. But Taylor Swift sang it, and this is the Taylor Swift Book Tag. Plus, it sounds fun, even if it isn’t quite happening. I was tagged by Jess @ Curiouser and Curiouser to do this one, and I like it!

1. ‘WE ARE NEVER EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER’

Pick a book (or book series) that you were pretty sure you were in love with, but then wanted to break up with

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. I thought they were amazing four years ago. By the end, I was bored to tears.bored_with_this

2. ‘RED’

Pick a book with a RED coverIMG_3944

The reddest covers I own: The Aftermath by Jen AlexanderForbidden by Tabitha Suzuma; and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

3. The Best Day

(pick a book that makes you feel nostalgic)

bscBecause I read and owned every Baby-Sitter’s Club book. I read them until the covers were about to fall off. I think I had an obsession.

9. Forever and Always

(pick your favorite book couple)

catching-fire

Katniss & Peeta, The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins

10. Come Back, Be Here

Not getting any of them. Sorry.

BONUS QUESTIONS:

11. Teardrops On My Guitar

(pick a book that made you cry a lot)

11870085

There are other books that have made me cry (looking at you, All the Bright Places) but I don’t think I have ever in my life sobbed as hard as when I read this damn book.

12. Shake It Off

(pick a book that you love so much, you just shake off the haters)

16068780

I know it had flaws, but really, I care so little about them. I loved it. Not even almost sorry.

That was lovely, and now you all have Taylor Swift songs stuck in your head! Yay! But alas, I must tag some people, so that we all are singing Taylor Swift for weeks to come. You’re welcome.
Let’s talk about Taylor Swift: Yay or Nay? If you had to pick one of her songs, which would be your favorite? (I am quite partial to Safe and Sound, but I have been liking Blank Space, I must admit.)

  1. Yay! I’ve been wanting to do this forever but was never tagged and I know I could have done it anyways but I kept putting it off, basically I will be doing this right away!

As for Taylor Swift, yay never nay. I’m obsessed and I don’t care what other people think! I’ve been obsessed with her since I first heard Teardrops On My Guitar and even spent all my birthday money once on tickets to the Red tour. Yeah, I’m shameless in my love for her. But I can’t pick a favorite song! That’s like picking a favorite book! I love Safe and Sound and Eyes Open, and I remember being so excited when I heard that she was going to be on the soundtrack because the only thing I ever listened to while reading Hunger Games was Taylor Swift. Okay, I think I’m letting my obsession get away with me, my favorite song is probably Long Live.

Love your answers and I think I’m going to have to steal Warner from you for I Knew You Were Trouble! *swoon* I also kind of feel the same way about Mortal Instruments, I used to love it but now I haven’t even been able to make myself finish the series. Thanks for the tag! =)

    • Yay!! I do like her, I think she is a strong woman, and I like her music. Obviously I love Safe and Sound because of THG, but also, I like it. As for TMI? Do yourself a favor and forget you ever started it 😉 How far did you get? Because if you’re only on like, book 2…. pass.

  2. SAFE AND SOUND. Okay, I’m probably just partial to that because of The Hunger Games being my favouritest thing in existence. BUT I love her music. Especially her latest music (her new album is the besssst). I’m not a fan of her especially twangy older music.
But we were talking about books right?! RIGHT. YES.
    THANK YOU FOR TAGGING ME.
I am absolutely wanting to do this. xD
I’m glad you’re shaking off the haters for The Jewel. 😉 I didn’t like it so I shall shut up and sit quietly in my corner. *nods* I’m soooo glad I didn’t have Allegiant spoiled for me but I DID have The Death Cure spoiled for me and arghhhh I was so so mad. -_- Spoilers are the worst.

    • Yes, that is mostly why I love it too. Shocking, no? I agree with you- I could live without the older country stuff, country is NOT my thing. But the new album is pretty great!

The worst part about The Jewel is that the reason people don’t like it is SO legitimate! I mean, it copies THG! That is such a sin, especially for a die-hard like me. But I could not help but like it. I tried, but I couldn’t.

Someone spoiled The Death Cure for you!? But… you LOVE that series! That is the meanest thing ever. Point me in their direction, they need to be hit with a very large book for that offense.

  3. Safe and Sound, is still the best song for me in the whole Hunger Games trilogy soundtracks so far. And I love almost every song in 1989 but the one that stood out for me was Style (which I heard will be coming in Feb. 10). It’s the perfect song for those cross country rides with all your peers and loved ones. I also love her past works like All Too Well and Back to December. Yes, I really love deep, emotional songs. 😀

I lost interest finishing Allegiant because, I admit it, I’m not a big fan of dual/multiple point-of views. Only some books really hooked me in to continue. And I was spoiled HALFWAY reading Divergent and I kind of hate Tris in Insurgent. Ugh.

    • Oh wow, that is high praise! (My favorite of all the soundtracks has to be Lorde’s version of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”, it gives me chills every time!) I am going to have to listen to Style, it sounds good! And really, I have liked every song I’ve heard from this album so far, so I am sure it will be!

Oh, that is awful! I don’t understand why people insist on spoilers! I liked Insurgent, but I liked Divergent better. And I liked Allegiant…. not at all. Definitely skip it. Not even just because of the ending, but because the whole book was pretty boring.

      • I kind of hate not finishing the sequel/ending of a book but yeah, I’ll probably never read it. I’ve gotten to at least chapter 11 and so bored in Tris and Four point-of-views. They’re almost the same person talking about that scene all over again.

Yes, I love “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” but only fell third in my favorites (Elastic Heart by Sia comes second and Safe and Sound being the first. Safe and Sound defines the rest of Mockingjay for me. And I love Mockingjay so that’s a bonus.

        • YES! That is the part that made me so mad. In Divergent (and even Insurgent) Tris and Four were so, SO different. In Allegiant, you can’t even tell them apart! Which is very strange, because one is male, and older, and one is a younger, more sheltered female, so how they sound alike, I’ll never know. OOOH Elastic Heart! I adore Sia, her voice is spectacular! I should rank all the songs! Maybe after the Mockingjay 2 Soundtrack is released, I will do an official ranking.

YAY a fellow Mockingjay lover! I think we may be the only ones, but that’s okay 🙂

  4. Ohhhh the tear drops from TFiOS DO NOT EVEN I CAN’T.

I read All the Bright Places recently and I agree; Violet changed and grew so much. From someone who was fragile and scared, to someone strong and determined to save the person she loved. It was so amazing to see how, after everything. she still kept that strength

    • I know, it is so SAD 🙁 Damn you, John Green, and your heartbreaking book.

And yes- Violet changed so, so much! That was the thing too, even in the end, she remained unbroken, and it showed how much strength she had gained through the whole book. Adored.

  5. HAHA, Love this tag. It was hilarious. I still haven’t read the Jewel. *hangs head in shame* but yes, the tears in TFIOS and All the Bright Places could create a whole new ocean. Imagine it, The Ocean of Fangirl Tears.
    That would be pretty cool

  6. Safe and Sound is an awesome choice! My daughter (who will be 2 in April) is a huge fan of Shake it Off haha. You made it farther in the Mortal Instruments books than I did, I just made it halfway through book 2 🙂

    • My daughter LOVES Shake it Off! She’s 3.5, and is a huge, huge fan. Other moms I know have said the same thing, it must just be catchy for toddlers- Taylor Swift has a whole new fan base 😉

And I hope you threw in the towel halfway through book 2? I wish I had!

  7. 1. AGREED! I was hooked with books #1-3, but then #4 & #5 were huge letdowns. I still haven’t read City of Heavenly Fire.
    5. Oh dear. I am a huge anti-Warner girl, right here. xD
    8. I am EAGERLY awaiting An Ember in the Ashes and The Cage as well! <3
    9. YESYESYES! I will forever love Katniss & Peeta together. They were one of my first ultimate ships!
    11. I did tear up a bit reading TFiOS, but I ugly cried watching the film!
    12. I'm not a "hater" of this one, per se, but I did dislike it a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed it, though!

Awesome post, Shannon! Personally, I adore Safe and Sound as well. (Fact: I cried when I first seriously listened to the song lyrics.)

    • Ugh, she should have quit at book 3. It would have been wrapped up, everyone would have been happy, and I’d have several days of my life back 😉

Anti-Warner?! Noooooooo 😉 And Katniss and Peeta are my lifelong ship. <3 Oh, the TFiOS movie... I can't. Ansel Elgort was just so damn charming, and I didn't want all the bad things to happen.

Aww I know, Safe and Sound makes me tear up too, thinking about how it relates to the books and such. And thank you 🙂

  8. Yay, you did it! 😀 Love your picks.

I’ve always been a Taylor Swift fan. 🙂 The poor girl’s gotten a lot of criticism over the years, so it’s nice to see her finally saying screw the haters in her latest album. I love Shake It Off and Blank Space, of course, but one of my favourites of hers is probably The Best Day. 🙂 Safe and Sound is lovely, too. To be honest there aren’t many of her songs that I don’t like!

    • Oh I agree, I love her! She is so strong, and OWNS her life. She is a great role model, and everyone who says otherwise is simply jealous! Thanks so much for tagging me, it was really fun 🙂

  9. My favourite Taylor Swift song? Ohh, I don’t know. I quite like How You Got the Girl and Wildest Dreams, and that’s just her latest album. If my anxiety & health allow it, I’m seeing her in June! Really hope I can make it!

    • Oooh I really, really hope you get to go! My fingers will be crossed for you 🙂 I need to really listen to all her new songs, I haven’t really made a point to do so yet, but I have liked the ones I’ve heard so far, so I need to get on that!

  10. I can appreciate a good Taylor Swift song. They start getting on my nerves when I hear them too often (so always), but I think they have their time and place. Blank Space is definitely my favorite, so catchy!

I’m definitely with you on The Mortal Instruments. That abbreviation is very fitting – it’s just TMI. The story was laid out for three books and then it just felt like she wrote past the point where it should have ended. I haven’t read the last book yet, but I probably will at some point just to find out what happens. That is one badass Katniss and Peeta gif!

    • Hahah I agree! I will love the song, but then it will be played over and over and ugh! The worst is when you switch the radio station to get away from it, only to hear it on every other radio station! Like, come on, there ARE other songs 😉

Also, I LOVE THAT! It IS TMI! Good call. I agree with you completely- it went on past the point that there was anything new to bring to it. The characters AND the plot stayed very stagnant. I thought the end was kind of predictable to be honest. So I mean, make some predictions, and chances are, you’ll be right 😉 And, most importantly, you’ll have saved 725 pages of reading!

  11. This Taylor Swift tag going around sounds really interesting, but I’ve never viewed it until now (I was scared, let’s be honest). 🙂

I want that copy of Catching Fire, it’s just so pretty. And I agree with TFIOS! I didn’t cry. Because I was in…well that’s a topic for another day.

Oh my goodness, Babysitter’s Club! YES! I want all of those books again! But it’s hard unless you buy them used. 🙁 I read quite a few of them through elementary school and middle school. And high school. And heck, if I still had mine, I’d definitely be reading them. They were so addicting. And totally had that whole animated cartoon feel where the series goes on forever, but the characters never get any older, yet they go all around the world (The Super editions) and such… 😉 I totally miss those books.

Ah, Shatter Me<3 I want to read that series. I also agree with All The Bright Places, it was quite lovely.

    • The foil editions of THG aren’t even that expensive! I think the whole set was maybe $25? Let me find the link… http://amzn.to/1uOilxk Yeah so, $26, not bad!

They are incredibly hard to find, which is why I am so angry about the flood! And the books that were lost were so random. Ugh, it really sucks. I bet I could find them at like, a yard sale or something! I will have to figure out which ones I am missing. Also- did you feel like they were WAY too young to be doing all the crap they did? I mean, 2 of them were 11! And watching other people’s kids? That doesn’t seem responsible (or hell, even legal!)

      • I’m definitely going to have to buy them when I get tax money in. 🙂 I’ll finally have a matching set. $26 is definitely not bad.

The flood’s awful. 🙁 I see a few of them from time to time at a used book store (inside the library) or at a book sale (from the library), but I’ve never really picked them up. That’s totally going to change. A yard sale would be good! I’d try Ebay, but I’m a bit wary of the site, but the books look reasonably priced if you buy like, groups.

Yes! It definitely felt like they were young. Especially when they went to New York to visit Stacey. Or when they watched all of the kids in like, New York. Gosh, Stacey walking around NY at 13 by herself just made me all like “Eh?”, but the books were written a while back, it was probably safer back then.

Or like how the Pike family took Stacey and Mary Anne along on their family vacation to watch the kids. Two thirteen year olds? Really? I don’t know, I guess I can sort of understand the…leniency of their age because they generally only babysat for families they knew well. Sort of. I don’t know, I sort of suspend my belief as far as them traveling places and such.

The California lottery ticket book! It’s my favorite one, but come on! Completely unrealistic. What kind of parent is going to agree to have seven of their kid’s friends stay with them and their girlfriend. Two eleven year olds? Er….no.

Totally went off on a tangent there, haha, sorry about that…

        • Well, they were written starting in the mid-eighties, but I think the last one was written pretty close to 2000. Also, I had always thought I didn’t finish the series, but apparently, as if it was fate, the last book I bought (when I decided it was ridiculous to keep spending money on them) WAS the last book. I feel that maybe Ann did that just for me. (Of course I know that isn’t actually true, but let me have this one.)

And yep, the last one was published in 1999. My parents would not have let me go to NYC alone in 1999 and I was 16 and a senior in high school!

  12. YESSSSSS, THIS TAG! I did it too and it’s so much fun [I actually came up with my own, hehe!]

I totally agree with TMI. I felt like that book was OVER before it even really began. Also WARNER <333 I would've picked him but I haven't read Ignite Me so I didn't feel right using it [I used The Darkling instead!]

  13. City of Glass was fantastic, but I haven’t read any of the other books for fear of the angst I’ve heard about!

YESSSSS Warner. Love of my life <3

Allegiant. Ugh, so bitter. Though more about a different thing that happened instead of the thing everyone lost their crap over.

Just give me An Ember in the Ashes, and nobody gets hurt.

See, Shannon, I knew I liked you. Everlark forever <3

My favorite right now would probably have to be Clean, but Style is a close second! Thanks for tagging me!

    • I liked City of Glass too! That was probably the high point for me. I was really into it, but then… it just got DULL. Should’ve ended there, really.

I agree, Allegiant didn’t just bother me because of the “event”. The whole thing was quite horrible, frankly. And I am still sad.

And WARNER! I have never loved a “bad boy” before or since Warner. <3 And I have pre ordered An Ember in the Ashes but... it's so far away. Sad face.

I mean, would I prefer Peeta with ME? Sure. But since he is fictional, I *guess* I can let Katniss have him.

  14. I DO LIKE HER SAFE AND SOUND SONG. And yeah Blank Space is good but I’m starting to associate it with driving and yeah no. Um, YAY FOR BEING TAGGED. Also, does that mean you will lend out any book? Or none of them? Oh none of them. I did not catch that at first haha. I’m really glad I haven’t started TMI. I mean, I could’ve liked them, but nahhhh don’t have time for that. AND YAY ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES (More like sob hahahahahh….ha….ha)

THANKS AGAIN FOR TAGGING ME SHANNNNNNNNNNON

    • You are quite welcome 🙂 I associate Blank Space with driving too! But I kind of like it, like it is my driving song. But we know how you feel about driving soooo….

NONE OF THEM. You cannot HAVE THEM. And seriously, don’t start TMI. Run away. Though if you do want to read them, I have them. Those are a few I wouldn’t mind lending out 😉
