Welcome to September’s Monthly Minutes at Midnight!

Here’s the deal: I’ll share the books I’ve obtained, posts of interest from others, giveaways I have happening, and just general random shenanigans. You know I love a shenanigan.

The Books

For Review/From Publishers:

Thanks to Entangled Teen, Soho Teen, Macmillan, & St. Martin’s  for the review copies!

eARCs:

Purchased:

I did buy a few books this month, but they were pre-orders so it’s fine, right? I had to own the One Dark Throne to match my UK lovelies of Three Dark Crowns!

Gifted/Traded:

Thanks to Random House for the copy of Dear MartinI won that via Goodreads (rare, right?) Thanks to Rashika for 3 of those books, one of which I had given to her, so that’s weird, but that’s okay. I won Expelled at the Barnes & Noble trivia thing- it’s so funny because I saw so many bloggers who won trivia that day, we are so smart!

Shenanigans Since Last Time:

I read 14 books this month. Actually, I assume by the time you read this, I’ll have read a 15th, but it feels like cheating since I  can’t be sure. So… head start on October 😉

Some of these were quite good. I really liked Unearthed and Starfish, and I seriously don’t understand why I waited so long before reading the rest of The Sin Eater’s Daughter series. I’ll be reviewing the rest of that series, along with Devils You Know, The Key to EverythingThree Sides of a Heart, Eight Days on Planet Earth soon. So I won’t say much about those. Sure it’s evil but ha.

Blogosphere Bulletin

Here are some of the loveliest/most entertaining/super helpful/just plain interesting posts I found this month!

This… is still shorter, but I am making progress in getting my shit together, woo!

Random Musings

Fall. Le sigh. I don’t know, I mean- I don’t really dislike fall, but I dislike that fall means that winter is coming? But guess who else is coming? Val! So that is fun. Other than that… same old, I suppose? Honestly, I wish to be done blogging for tonight (I have scheduled two posts and that seemed like a lot of work even though it really wasn’t) and so I am done here, too. That’ll be three posts scheduled. Even though they all post within 25 hours. Shh. It’s progress, kind of.

Fancy & New Since Last I Saw You!

I love looking at pretty covers! So here are some new ones that I have fallen in love with since our last update!

Yesss, this is more than usual. That is because apparently September was a badass month for cover reveals. I’ll take it.

Things we need to talk about at this juncture:

  • It’s been four freaking months since PraimfayaI know we go through this all the time, but I miss it! The good news? Hiatus is about halfway done! The bad news? September was a very slow news month for The 100, so I don’t even have much to share. Octavia will be bloodier than usual. That’s about it.
  • I’m super behind on reviews. Well- I should specify that I am not behind yet. But by the time Shattering Stigmas is over, I will be. Because I won’t be posting any (well, many, I should say) during that time. But since November and December are slower, I’ll have tons of time to catch up (and other such lies).
  • Shattering Stigmas starts on the 2nd! We have another year of fabulous guest posters and stories and reviews and such to share, so stay tuned! Fun fact: I have almost nothing done when I am posting this, and it starts in two days. Two. Days.

Happy October, loves!

  1. Nice stack. The Forever ship looks kinda good- I don’t know anything about that series but comparing it to Hunger Games and The Road makes it sound pretty dang dystopian! Renegades I’ve been mulling over… and I see you got that ass kicking version of One Dark Throne. Nice! Eight Days on Planet Earth caught my eye recently, I hope it was good.

Thanks for the link and the shout out! 🙂

Love the covers! State of Sorrow is awesome.

Shattering Stigmas is going to be awesome I’m sure. But don’t stress. Watch The 100. That’s what I’m doing this weekend lol…

    • Thanks!! I liked the first two books in the series (The Fire Sermon is the first one). They’re good, but haven’t completely blown me away. I think whether I’d recommend depends on how this third one goes! It IS pretty dark though, so that’s fun. YESSS I had to get the UK ODT to match all my Three Dark Crowns hahah. I actually did really like Eight Days on Planet Earth! I wasn’t sure if I would, but I am really glad I tried it, it ended up being quite enjoyable. And a pretty fast read.

And of course! 😀 OH and as for State of Sorrow, the author”s other books are fabulous too, so it’d be worth checking out! Thank youuu! I hope it will be, this has been an odd year- like, I haven’t been worked up about it at all? It’s after 10 on Sunday and the post? It still doesn’t exist, so. When I am done, I am definitely taking your advice and watching The 100, as it is definitely a cure for everything!

  2. I am drooling over your stack of ARCs. In Search Of, In Her Skin, The Beloved Wild, and Suitors and Sabotage are all high on my list. I won a Goodreads giveaway last week, but I have not received the book, so it’s not real until the book is in my hands. I have won at least 14 times though. That’s the only #BookMail I get, so I have to relish it. Good luck with Shattering Stigmas. I am looking forward to all the posts. I am sure it will be amazing!

  3. Omg those NEW COVERS. ? I’m glad you show those because I never know what’s coming out haha. (I’m excited for Caraval #2 though!) And congrats on getting all that reading done. RENEGADES AHH!!! And Dear Martin!! Soooo many good books.? I’m also trying to beat my Shattering Stigmas post into submission so I’m going to go work on that. *runs off guiltily*

    • Hahhah yes, yes, we all must make our TBRs as large as possible, of course. And seriously, it’s that problem of where ALL the books look good and so I cannot choose what to read at all ha. And YAY a Shattering Stigmas post! This is excitingggg!

  4. The new cover releases look so beautiful! And I’m crying over the amazing discussion posts that were uploaded to the 2017 Challenge you’re hosting with Feed Your Fiction Addiction. People are very talented at what they do! And it’s by far one my favorite blogging/reading challenge out there.
I posted my first discussion post this month, and even though it’s late to join in, I’m loving reading and discussing with all of the people that are participating.
I’m dying to read Caraval, and the title and cover for the sequel look awesome. I’ve heard great things about Dear Martin, AND I’M REALLY ENJOYING WARCROSS by Marie Lu! I hope you can read it soon. I have The Sin Eater’s Daughter on my hands, but I’ve heard really mixed things about the series. I’m SO glad you enjoyed it because I’d like to go into it with some positive thoughts on my mind. Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman sounds so heartbreakingly beautiful and powerful. I think it’ll deal with some difficult topics.
    THE COVER, too!
    Congrats on the awesome month!

    • AWW thank you SO MUCH! You have no idea how amazing it is to hear that you are enjoying our challenge so much! It is really fun for us too, and I personally LOVE how it helps me find discussions so easily because they’re all linked in one place 😀 And hey, it’s never too late to join, I am SO glad you decided to jump aboard!

I haven’t read Caraval either yet! SUCH a fail- it’s like every time I have a chance to do so, I never feel like it? I have heard great things about Dear Martin too, I am looking forward to it! SO glad that you’re loving Warcross, I am excited for it too! I have heard SO many mixed thoughts on Sin Eater’s Daughter- it’s like you either LOVE it or HATE it.. I happen to love it, but it seems like it will definitely be one or the other hah. Starfish was really good! Definitely just like you said- heartbreaking and emotional, but also uplifting! Thanks so much!!

  5. You always get so many good books! I still need to get a copy of Waking Gods, even though I’ve probably forgotten everything that happens in the first book. People keep telling me to read Saga. I want to, but who has time for all these books?!

    • AW thanks! You know, that is why I bought Waking Gods, because I was so afraid I’d forget everything! But it was good, so I am glad I did! And Saga is really enjoyable- and SO quick to read! I read a volume when I am too indecisive to choose a full book ?

  6. Kel

Can’t wait to see your thoughts on Renegades and Unearthed! I’m looking forward to those two. Also, thank you so much for including me in your bulletin! I hope Shattering Stigmas goes well and isn’t too stressful getting content ready. 🙂

    • Aw thanks! I really liked Unearthed- it was a fabulous concept and the authors executed it really well too! Like, I NEED the sequel right now. And of course 😀 I… am kind of being a typical pantser with Shattering Stigmas. I don’t even have a schedule. Just a list of posts that I am 100% winging ?

  7. Such pretties! My name is Charlie and I am a cover lover….I have also not been productive on the blog, and that’s not going to change anytime soon, either. I suppose I’ll be taking another hiatus soon.

    • HAH I feel you, I am such a sucker for covers. I am sorry you’ve been having issues with blogging, that is never fun. I feel like I may need a hiatus too, at least a mini one- I am overwhelmed. So it’s good that you are taking time for yourself!

  8. Wow lots of good books this month!! I have Eight Days on Planet Earth to get to. Hopefully it was a good one. I love fall but hate that means winter is close. Yay for Val coming.Love the cover for State of Sorrow. Have a great October!

  9. Ahhhh i can’t wait to read Renegades, I’m so excited for it! I just started reading One Dark Throne, and so far it is absolutely amazing.

  10. shooting

I’m excited to see all the Shattering Stigmas posts. And omg – you have a Renegades ARC? LUCKY!! I’m hoping to see Marissa live again if I can, so I need to pre-order through that bookstore to get a line ticket. Must remember this. I’m not behind on book reviews AT THE MOMENT but I do want to get things scheduled ahead again. sigh.

  11. Woooooooooow. You read so many! I just read 6 xD I feel kind of bad for my September 😀 but I just had so many social things to attend to. Hopefully I can catch up in October 🙂
You shared my poooooooost! Thank youuuu 🙂 I should write more of those, for my WHAT DO series. Although I’m thinking of renaming it to something more obviously misspelled cause I think people think I don’t know my grammar xD there there poor foreigner *pet pet* 😀 thanks for sharing again though!
And also. Scheduling two posts in one night is almost never possible for me! Sometimes I think I probably fiddle with them too much. Damn the perfectionism 😀

    • Aw that is okay! If it helps, I would MUCH have rathered do the social things;) And you are quite welcome! YESS definitely do write more, they’re fun! Ooooh I *never* fiddle with posts. Ever. Who even knows what I post half the time? And yet… I still can’t get ahead ?

      • Well, I don’t know, I think you post pretty awesome things 😀 I am just such a perfectionist with my blog formatting! And then I also have to have perfectly formatted Goodreads reviews that must be timed to coke out when the posts come out… it’s an entire system 😀

As for discussions, I would! But right now there are tons and tons of ARCs coming out and I have to post a ton of reviews. I’ve actually started making my reviews into discussions because otherwise there is just no space for them in the calendar 😀 😀 wrote a post about an astronaut’s memoir that comes out on the 16th where I debunk space and sci-fi myths. And nobody’s gonna read it cause it’s a review T_T xD haha

  12. Awwww I get a shoutout woo! I can’t wait to come and visit! (I am coming, apparently it takes within 10 days for my new license to come 😛 SO NO WORRYING OK)

And wow I had no idea that Legendary was the sequel to Caraval. Maybe I should get to that at some point this year? lol

And wow, your discussion list is STILL LONG OK??

    • YAY 10 days is good! I mean, if it were me, I’d just drive without it but I know you are a responsible human being and such 😉 And same with Caraval! We’ve had the damn thing for YEARS now, oops? We should read it while you’re here- force each other. Yeah, the list was better than the past few months at least!

      • I mean I would drive without it anyways? I need to buy food for myself for the next 10 days, and I’m not going to starve myself so…I’m just pretty sure it’ll come in time so woop

  13. You got so many awesome books! I see a couple I’ve been wanting to read. I have an ARC of Dear Martin that I’m about to dive into. I hope you enjoy it when you get to it! OMG, the covers you posted are gorgeous! I actually added a couple to my TBR.

I hope you have an awesome October!

  14. Even though I have never joined in, I always remember reading the Shattering Stigmas posts and loving them so I am so excited to get to them soon! That haul is goals DD: I can’t wait to read Warcross and the Language of Thorns because I love the sound of them and their authors. Also, I didn’t realise Renegades by Marissa Maeyer was so… HUGE? I thought it was gonna be a thin little graphic novel. Now, I am even more hyped than before! (If that is even possible.) And thank you so much for featuring my post <3
