Twelve Years of It Starts at Midnight!

Welcome to twelve years of It Starts at Midnight! Fun fact: it has taken me almost a week to write one silly post, if anyone was wondering about how things are going around here! I made an infographic, because I like those! Also I’mma go ahead and backdate this because I can.

I also want to do a giveaway, but friends, did you see that Rafflecopter deleted itself? So now, I don’t know what to do! I have 12 books that need a new home, and no platform in which to host it! (Also, add to it that we lost all the entries to the 2025 giveaways and I want to throttle the rude folks at RC- had I known, I would have downloaded the entries, but there was zero warning! We’re working on a solution, this is crap!) So. Let’s try this, and see how it goes!

I have 12 books, at least 4 winners can win 3 books each- let me know in the form which you want so I can match winners with prizes! I’ll pick winners until they’re gone, or unclaimed.

So tell me about your numbers! Do we have any similar stats?

  1. Congratulations! It’s amazing to think that I have been reading your blog that long. Crazy! You DNFed 12 books in 12 years. I DNF more than that this year. HA! Cheers and here’s to many more years of It Starts at Midnight. (it was unsettling to hear that Rafflecopter was no more. End of an era)

  2. Congrats on the milestone! I remember hearing Rafflecopter was ending but for some reason I thought it was at the end of the year. I just heard it from another’s blog post as well. Rafflecopter didn’t give any warning and that sucks. No even heads up here’s our goodbye email. I can’t believe they did t do that for people who could’ve been running a giveaway with their form at that time. I can’t believe they aren’t even helping you to retrieve the form’s entries! That really sucks.

Despite the suckage of Rafflecopter after all the years of loyalty…congrats again on your milestone! That’s truly a wonderful accomplishment! I hope you have many more happy blogging years to come!

Happy Anniversary! I will read anything, and I don’t have any of the books on your stack. Well, I don’t like horror though. I would read any of your twelve books, provided they are not scary!

Try looking at gleam.io for giveaways. I’ve had some small experience with their site and they weren’t that hard to figure out.

Those are some impressive stats! Especially when life gets in the way & still you have so much to show from your blog. I wish I could leave a stat with how many great books I’ve found from your posts each year, it’s probably a significant number at this point! My Netgalley rating is absolutely abysmal – honestly don’t know how I get approved at this point. Anyways, huge congrats and I look forward to hopefully many more years reading from It Starts at Midnight!

  5. 4 shelves of unread books? I mean, that’s not even a 5. You can do better 🙄 😂.

I’ve had 21 DNF’s over the course of 13 years…almost twice your number…do with it what you will LOL.

How dare NG still decline you! Are they MAD???

I’m impressed by your blogging journey and by how much you’ve accomplished in these 12 years. I hope you’ll keep blogging for a very long time and writing awesome (and more often than not, even funny) reviews!

  6. Rafflecopter shut down?!?!?! Noooooo that was such a staple in the blogging community… what a bummer.

Congrats on 12 years — the infographic is super fun! I did a lot of deleting posts at some point, but I think if I counted all of those I’d be close to 1500 posts, which is DEFINITELY a lot. I’m not sure how many DNFs I have honestly, but I’ve definitely been more cutthroat about it over the years.

Congratulations! Your book blog is hitting puberty! 😉 Seriously, though, now I’m thinking about how much has changed in the past 12 years….hot damn, but things fly by. I’m so grateful you’re still nourishing this blog and didn’t quit (like me) or try to monetize it and ruin it entirely (like some others). You’re basically the reason I *have* a TBR, so not only do *I* appreciate your effort and time, the publishers of the bazillion books I’ve bought over the past 12 years should, too. AND the cast and crew of The 100. *ahem*

As for your DNF average, that feels low to me. Your patience for ‘meh’ books is long, but life is too short to read mediocre books. <3

I had no idea about Rafflecopter…..WTAF?! That sucks.

I hope this replacement program works as it should and doesn't just fold out of nowhere. I'm entering the giveaway because of course I am. 😉
I'd love A Sorceress Comes to Call and Intemperance, personally.

      Numbers? No problem.
4: The total number of blogs I’ve had in my life (I’m counting DeadJournal here)
777: Books I’ve read in the past 12 years
932: Books we have in common, according to Goodreads
