Some of the loveliest/most entertaining/super helpful/just plain interesting posts I found this month!

Fancy & New Since Last I Saw You!

I love looking at pretty covers! So here are some new ones that I have fallen in love with since our last update!

Pretty covers are pretty.

ARC August!

As always and once again, I am joining up with Octavia & Shelley at Read. Sleep. Repeat for ARC August!! They’ve been doing this for like, 32 years or so, and I love to do it! It’s such a great way to clear the ARCs, and since September is always loaded with ARCs, I have a ton! More than ever, actually!

17 Books. Seventeen. This is rough guys! Mostly because I still have two August books left up there. It’s semi-cheating because I have already started them, but shh. We got this!

Things we need to talk about at this juncture:

  • The 100 Season 7 is more than halfway over, I sob. Only seven episodes separate us and the end. Check out my latest recap of Episode 7×09 The Flock before hiatus time ends this week!
  • Speaking of, Conageddon was rescheduled until March 2021. I am actually pretty happy? I mean, October was never going to happen in this current global hellscape, so I am glad it was changed. Now, if I can just decide whether to buy a VIP ticket, if I want to buy my extras now, and so on. But hey, at least I will have some The 100 content to look forward to after the end!
  • The next Bookish Games Edition will be… The 100!  I am all over it, obviously, and I’m not sure when we’ll actually be holding them, but definitely in the next few months! So sign up to be notified or follow on Twitter!
  • The world is exhausting. No seriously, good luck out there friends. I am tired. Have a picture of these kids, they look happy.

I wish you all a healthy and happy August!!

  1. How did you like First Sister? I’ve barely seen it around but my two friends that read it seemed really impressed.
Thank you for sharing links to other blogs, that’s just a great feature to include

  2. YOUR KIDS ARE TOO CUTE! I am always jealous of people who have mini-me kids too. Lena is looking a lot like you these days. I will be eagerly awaiting your thoughts on the new Hartl since Page Street has marked me as persona non grata. I am reading Save Steve right now and it’s funny, as expected. I want to know what you thought of Kit Sweetly too. I was in the minority on that one.

    • AW thank you ♥♥ It’s funny, I don’t really see the similarities but my mom says the same thing! Sammy, well Idk who he looks like- sometimes he reminds me a lot of my brother, who knows!

Okay I LOOOOOVED Not Your #Lovestory. I won’t even make you wait for the review, I just loved it so much I cannot even explain. I’ll try when I review it though! OOH what did you think of Kit Sweetly? One of these days I will do a buddy review with Danielle! I thought it was okay. Like- it had its moments, it was cute enough, but not super memorable for me?

      • Sam@wlabb

I went 3.5 on Kit Sweetly. Like you, I thought it had its moments, but it was darker than I anticipated. I expected something more lighthearted and fun, but it missed the mark for me

  3. Tânia @MyLovelySecret

Look at all those shiny new books. *.* I sent a request for Dustborn, but I’m not very hopeful. I also have some e-ARCs coming out in September that I need to read (why are so many books released in September?!) and ARC August does seem a nice way to read them.

Your kids look so adorable. *.*

    Happy readings!

  4. I’m so jealous you got DUSTBORN. You must read that asap and review it. k thanks. lol AND FABLE.

Ohhh what did you think of Cut Off? I saw that one recently and it intrigued me. Really, there are so many books you’ll be reading soon that I am excited to get your thoughts on!

I hope you have a great week 🙂

  5. Beth W

Wooo! Look at all those gorgeous covers, and ownvoices titles and diverse genres! Also, 17 books in August WOW. I mean, if anyone can do it, you can, but WOW. Good luck! I look forward to seeing which of these were aces and which were bummers. 🙂

  6. I’ve got Fable to read, too! Dustborn looks really good, too. I read 13 books this month, too. Is that the magic number for July?! Oh myyyy, the cover for Fire Keeper’s Daughter is absolutely GORGEOUS! I love it.

I’m looking forward to ARC August, because maybe it’ll motivate me to catch up? I’m so far behind, ha. But you’re right that the world’s exhausting, so take care of yourself!

And thank you so much for sharing my post. <3

  7. Oh my god these book covers are STUNNING, wow.
I’m exciteed to hear your thoughts on Not Your Lovestory, it’s one of my most anticipated reads, it sounds so wonderful! <3
Thank you so, so much for sharing my post, I hope you'll have a lovely August, Shannon, take care <3 <3

  8. Ooooh, good luck with ARC August! I’m considering participating, but I don’t do well with TBRs, so I’m going to try to prioritize my ARCs without actually putting any pressure on myself. It’s a tricky balance, but I hope I manage to actually get to some of my backlist ARCs this month!

And each of the covers you showed off are each so interesting and unique, but I think the most eye catching cover is definitely The Electric Kingdom! I’m so curious as to how exactly that cover was designed, since it looks so detailed!

Thank you so much for sharing my posts! It always makes my day whenever I see that someone liked my post enough to share it with others!

Also, that picture of your kids is absolutely adorable! They look like they’re having a great time in it!

  9. shooting

The world is SO exhausting, I agree. Lovely photo of the kids though!! I hope you’re staying healthy and doing well overall. I’m super curious about Furia – hope that’s a good one. I also have Traitor to read this month. I’m doing ARCAugust too because I’m a bit behind on ARCs so I want to get as much finished this month as I can!!

  10. Your kiddos do look happy ???am happy FOR THEM!!! And also you read so much, you are marvellous. I also have Goddess in the Machine and Fable (I am particularly excited for the latter) so I hope they’re super good!! July was the bleh-est month for me for reading so am hanging out for a better August ??

  11. Great post, Shannon. I’m new to the Wrap-up Round-up. Fab collection of reads this month and nice to see that you’ve mentioned a couple of bloggers’ posts that I thought were really good too.
    See you around the blogosphere.

  12. Danielle Hammelef

I enjoyed seeing all the pretty covers! In July, I braved the COVID world and headed to my favorite indie bookstore with my giftcards buring holes in my pocket. I made a list of my must buys before I left, including Today Tonight Tomorrow and snagged the ONLY copy the store had purchased of this exciting book. Of course, I haven’t read it yet because of review books first, but I know I will love it (it’s kind of like a dessert read in my head). So happy Kit Sweetly finally arrived and we are ready to buddy review now. Next up, Rebel Spy for me. Thanks, Shannon!
