Welcome to March’s Monthly Minutes at Midnight!

Here’s the deal: I’ll share the books I’ve obtained, posts of interest from others, giveaways I have happening, and just general random shenanigans. You know I love a shenanigan.  Also, covers all link to Goodreads, because I am awesome.

The Books

For Review/From Publishers:

Symptoms of a Heartbreak by Sona Charaipotra

Secrets of a Fangirl by Erin Dionne

This Book Is Not Yet Rated by Peter Bognanni

Huge thanks to Macmillan, Scholastic, and Penguin!!

eARCs:

Huge thanks to Random House, Tor, Orchard, HMH, and Daw!!

Purchased:

Mayyyybe someone went a wee bit overboard this month? But a lot of them were pre-orders from ages ago, so. I pre-ordered Rayne & Delilah, Chrysalis, Hiro Loves Kite, and Travel Diaries of the Dead and Delusional because I love all those authors.

And then I had to buy some books at the EpicReads event, right? Right. I bought Opposite of Always and Not a Drop to Drink, but I also bought We Set the Dark on Fire so I could have a signed copy, but my mom is currently reading it, so. Maybe I’ll have it next month!

Also… a few Kindle deals oops?

Won/Gifted/Traded:

Hugest of thanks to Kel @ Booked Til Tuesday who bought me this amazingness because she is amazing.

Shenanigans Since Last Time:

I read 11 books this month. Which isn’t bad because I didn’t particularly care for this month.

This was a pretty good one, actually. I liked far more books than I didn’t like, so we’ll consider that a reading win.

Blogosphere Bulletin

Here are some of the loveliest/most entertaining/super helpful/just plain interesting posts I found this month!

I wanted to look for more posts but I am tired. Of everything.

Fancy & New Since Last I Saw You!

I love looking at pretty covers! So here are some new ones that I have fallen in love with since our last update!

GAH my eyes are blessed.

Things we need to talk about at this juncture:

  • I wanted to talk about so much this month but… I just can’t. The past few days have just been too much and I am honestly just trying to get this post up. Anything else is just a bonus at this point. Hopefully I can chat more about the EpicReads author event next month. Because I genuinely can’t. Or I guess, I could, but it would be much less entertaining than it should be, and that is fair to no one.
  • The. 100. Trailer. I am going to try to finish the post within the next few days (actually, that is a lie, I am going to try to finish it before I finish this one, but we’ll see) so I will share it then! Until that time… have a poster!

Have a great April, loves!

That 100 poster is full of color and hope, but…”face your demons” has me a bit nervous. Hrmmm….
Thanks for sharing all the pretties (and, as always, expanding my TBR). I hope April is an easier month for you.

  2. I hope that April will be better for you, Shannon, I’m sending you all the positive vibes <3
I love seeing all of these gorgeous new book covers together, I can't wait for A River of Royal Blood 🙂
Thank you so, so much for sharing my post! <3 <3

  3. I want to steal all three of those ARCs you were sent. I hope they are all fabulous, because I have them on my TBR too. Sorry to hear March was a month, but I hope April is much better.

    • I’d totally send you Fangirl but Lena hasn’t let it out of her clutches hahah. I wish I saw this BEFORE I decided to give away This Book is Not Yet Rated, because I’d have sent THAT to you too. I know you prefer ebooks, but let me know if you want me to send Heartbreak your way after I finish!

      • I never commit to physical books, because the font-size is too much of an unknown for me XD But I appreciate the offer and I hope Lena loves Fangirl (and tells me all about it)

  4. Sorry you’re having a rough time; if you ever need to talk, or vent, or just want funny Gifs sent to you via social media, let me know!! I’m so jealous you got Raven’s Tale and The Boy Who Steals Houses. Two books I am dying to read! I hope they were good. Have a lovely April!!

    • Aw thank you SO MUCH. Luckily one of the things that was bumming me out was resolved, and hopefully the upcoming Easter break will give me a minute to relax haha (literally just a minute but I wilL TAKE IT)

The Boy Who Steals Houses was AWESOME. Like Cait outdid her damn self. Raven’s Tale… is literally one of the biggest bookish disappointments I can recall in recent history so… at least one was good? I hope you have better luck with it!

  5. Wilder Girls looks awesome. I just finished Girls With sharp Sticks and loved it!

I do NOT know what is going on with The 100 but I have so many thoughts. This season is gonna be… bonkers.

    • Oh YAY I am so glad you loved iT! It was addicting, right? Even if it wasn’t wholly unique? The end got me for sure. Wilder Girls looks so messed up, which is obviously the attraction hahah.

And yeah this season IS going to be nuts- hopefully in a good way and not in an “oh noes an AI with a chip” way ?

  6. This is such a gorgeous-looking post, so many beautiful books! I’m sorry you’re having a bit of a time; I’m no big fan of the spring and seem to struggle more during this time of the year as well. Onward to better times in April for everyone!

    • Aw thank you SO much ♥♥♥ I am doing a bit better, thank goodness- at least one of the big things stressing me out was resolved! I hope you are doing okay too! For some reason spring CAN be hard, even though it seems like the opposite should be true? Fingers are crossed that we BOTH have better months!

    • Thank you, darling!! I do hope you’re right! Things did get a BIT better after I posted, thank goodness- you know how you desperately want a thing to be resolved and then when it is you feel like an actual weight is lifted? That happened, thank GOODNESS. Now it’s just… life bwhahahah. Hope you have an amazing April!! ♥♥

  7. I’m sending all the hugs your way and I hope that April ends up being a fabulous month. It’s funny because I’m always so worried about posting and such when I’m busy or overwhelmed, but the second I hear that someone else is having a tough time my immediate reaction is STOP RIGHT THERE AND TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! So I hope you take all the time you need to get in the right state of mind.

On a slightly more positive note, I ADORE the cover for A Thousand Years to Wait, which also sounds like how I would describe my wait for anticipated releases.

    • Awww thanks love ♥♥ One of the things I was really stressing about was resolved so I DO feel better. Fingers crossed that the rest of the month is okay! And LUCKILY I have gotten through the posts I “needed” to do- because you’re so right, it IS best to take care of ourselves first, so if I don’t post again for a few days… meh, that’s FINE! I hope you are doing okay too!

Bwhahah that is SO accurate! And isn’t that cover AMAZING? I saw it on Twitter and then I found out that the author lives by me and the premise sounds cool too so obviously I am IN!

  8. Kel

Aw, you’re super welcome! I’m glad the book made it okay, and that cover is lovely! March was a little extra . . . draining, wasn’t it? Hopefully April is shaping up to be a little more relaxing!

  9. Eeep congrats on reading so much despite the month being a too much ? *sends you cake* I hope April treats you better? Also what is it with these gorgeous covers ??I want them all and I’m going to be broke.

    • Aw thanks! Luckily one of the big stressors was resolved and I feel like, a trillion times better. Now it’s just… you know, regular old life ? Seriously there are too many pretty covers. It’s kind of rude, don’t they understand that we have budgets?

  10. Danielle Hammelef

I’m a huge Zentner fan, so I’m really hoping to read his latest–it sounds so different than his other books. The 11 books you read in March are all on my want to read list. I hope your April is starting off well.
