copy-of-the100-reviewRemember that one time that Holly and I “reviewed” The 100 book? We had fun, but Holly didn’t feel like reading Day 21, so I promised I would take one for the team and do it for her. Well, that time has come, folks. And in the spirit of keeping with our buddy reviews, I basically spoil the hell out of this book, and Holly reacts. And then we end up drifting back to the show. So, the usual. Here, have some book info!

Day 21 by Kass Morgan
Series: The 100 #2
Published by Little Brown Books for Young Readers on September 16th 2014
Pages: 320

No one has set foot on Earth in centuries -- until now.

It's been 21 days since the hundred landed on Earth. They're the only humans to set foot on the planet in centuries...or so they thought. Facing an unknown enemy, Wells attempts to keep the group together. Clarke strikes out for Mount Weather, in search of other Colonists, while Bellamy is determined to rescue his sister, no matter the cost. And back on the ship, Glass faces an unthinkable choice between the love of her life and life itself.

In this pulse-pounding sequel to Kass Morgan's The 100, secrets are revealed, beliefs are challenged, and relationships are tested. And the hundred will struggle to survive the only way they can -- together.

Also. This is clearly full of spoilers, since I told her all the things. And some spoilers for the show too, but honestly, fewer than usual!

Bottom Line: Look, this is coming from a place of huge bias. We love the show, and we will always side with the show because frankly, we watched it first and loved it first. That is why I call this a “review” and not a review, because it is subjective as hell. And we aren’t pretending otherwise. But if you did not like the first book, I assume this won’t be your cup of tea either. If you did like the first book, the Goodreads reviews have been mostly positive for this one. I’m listing it as two stars in my blog index but our rating is just….

Also… we have some fun stuff planned for before the premiere! So stay tuned!

Have you read the books? Plan on it? Just plain excited for Season 4?

  1. Why do these have to suck lol? Wouldn’t it be awesome if these books were killer and we could love on the show AND the books?? Anyway I’m glad you read it so I know how bad it is (that sounds awful) but I love hearing snark about it too. Lincette? And blue corn? Wow. And you know I was glad when wells got offed, I didn’t like him, so if he’s still running around the books I’d be peeved maybe.

Bellamy and Wells??? And what are the grounders doing in Mt. Weather? I mean, not in CAGES in Mt. Weather lol? I suppose the cannibals are gone too. SMH

    “Fucking Jaha” lol. Yup. 🙂

Screw that noise. I don’t want to spoil the characters in my mind so I need to stay away from this. I always liked the Earth stuff better s all the ark shenanigans in this one would probably irritate me anyways. It’s good to know the books are SO different.

    • RIGHT!? This is the question I ask myself every time I look at the books. Such missed opportunities! And so, I didn’t *hate* TV Wells, but I didn’t love him either, but book Wells? He is THE. WORST. He is like, Season 1 Bellamy, but without ANY of the charm or reasons, he is just the mini-Chancellor and a huge ass. And yeah, there ARE no Mountain Men, I guess. Just Grounders and Sky People. And I assume no ALIE hahah, but that may be a positive thing 😉

And yes, don’t let them mess up your head. Not worth it! But I will keep reading the books. Because I am too curious not to, it’s like a train wreck. Is that mean? ?

  2. I have never been so glad to have a show being better than the book, for once! So Bellamy and Clarke actually happened in the books? WTF writers? Why are they playing with us in the show. Just give us Bellarke once and for all. I need to rewatch seasons one and two so I can watch season 3 finally and be caught up. Who is Wells? Clarke’s ex best friend??

    • Thank you, I love when we collab too. And look at how HONEST we are, Valerie. We tell you “NO, STOP, DO NOT READ.” So when we say “YES, DAMNIT, WATCH THIS SHOW”, you should also listen, since we are clearly showing that we do in fact have your best interests at heart. Also, you should watch because we have our super exciting The 100 Week coming up in less than 50 days or whatever the hell that countdown that I am too lazy to scroll up and look at says.
