Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It gives us a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or got for review each week. Because I love books, and you love books, so let’s see the books!
The Books: For Review
(Pictures link to Goodreads!)
There’s a chance that I flailed. That chance is 100%.
Huge thanks to Penguin!!
via Edelweiss & Netgalley, thanks to Simon Pulse and Amulet Books!
Weekly Shenanigans
I read two books. I was sure I was going to read a lot more, so it’s weird. But I will probably finish two or three tonight, so that’s why, I suppose. The Hunger Games re-read is going fabulously, as we suspected 😀
Six of Crows, which probably makes Holly happy.

Random Musings:
I am working hard at getting my shit together. Caffeine is my friend. November is, predictably, kicking my ass, and is only going to get worse, I am afraid. I must clean so Val doesn’t think I am disgusting, lots of Mockingjay viewings, NaNo, Thanksgiving, and Sammy has to have his ear tubes replaced. Again. And I feel like I am forgetting something? But… how? That sounds like plenty, right?
Next week there is a lot of stuff going on around here, so be ready! Here’s some of those things:
- The Shelfie Hop
- Cover reveal of Earth’s End
- A Passenger giveaway
- My birthday!! And you know I will give something away for that too, because spreading love is fun!
- I will probably do something about Mockingjay. I don’t know how or what yet.
- Reviews and Top Tens and such.
- VAL is coming!! And I am seeing Mockingjay with her! And also with my mom, not at the same time.
Things we need to talk about this week:
- I need to ask the Harry Potter fans: Were you devastated when the movies ended? I am not coping well with the end of THG. I am sure you’re all shocked.
- I went shopping today, and they were playing Christmas music. I say too early. Thoughts?
- NaNo. How is everyone doing, if you’re doing it? I hit 26K yesterday, so I will admit to being pretty tickled. I am here, if you want to follow along/be pals.
- What shall I review? Poll below:
Love & Gelato has a simple yet cute cover! It looks like a fun read. I’ll be checking that out soon. This week I won a copy of Six of Crows!!! I can’t wait till it arrives so I can start it. So happy you enjoyed it. I’m very excited for it. I actually started THG a few hours ago and I’m almost done! i did skim the first few pages since this is my 4th attempt at reading this book and I could never go past a few pages. I am going to see Mockingjay on Thursday! I can’t wait! PR brings the movies a day earlier 😀 I won’t spoil you haha no worries. November is kicking everyone’s butt! I can’t wait for December. Speaking of which, for me christmas happening already isnt much of a shock. My lovely Puerto Rican island starts to put up the decorations the first or second week of November and leave them until the second week of January. We love to party a lot and do lots of christmas events and parrandas!!! So that’s why we start early lol And I voted for Young Widows Club! I really want to read your opinions on that one. Well… It is safe to say this is probably my longest comment (or Nick & Nereyda have it). Either way, it’s really long! Haha anyways, I hope this upcoming week is better for you.
Awesome haul of books. Some of your books look so pretty. Yay for reading two books. I try to read. Been getting a lot more done than I ever thought possible. All series must end at some point and it’s sad. I hate DNF’g books so very much, but sometimes it has to be done.
Grace @ Books of Love
NO, THAT IS NOT ME GASPING AT THE LOVE THAT SPLIT THE WORLD. SHANNON, THAT IS SO AWESOME. *fangirls, also*
I also just received Seven Ways We Lie from NG and more fangirling shall commence. Yayayay. The countdown till Mockingjay is officially on. Have you seen J-Law’s fashion on the red carpet, btw? She is looking beyond stylish! (She fell again, too, lol.) OMG. I’m part of the Shelfie Hop, too, and I’m seriously counting down the days like a crazy.
Ugh. Christmas music already? Not really surprised tbh. In my local Macy’s, they had it covered in Christmas decorations by October. Literally.
Voted! My answer’s obvious, I think. 😉
Have a great weekend!
YAY CAFFEINE. I think it’s like the answer to 99% of creative people’s needs. *props eyeballs open with matchsticks* Also that cover for The Love That Split the World in Two is AMAZING and I think I suddenly need that book in my life, omg. I’m off to google it right now! 😀
I would have also flailed for The Love that Split the World. Love & Gelato looks so cute. Enjoy them!! Your November sounds insane!! Good luck with everything going on. Way too early for Christmas music. I am strictly after Thanksgiving for all things Christmas – minus the shopping. That I start early. Have a great week!!
Yup, it’s definitely too early to be thinking of Christmas I think! I still have another month and a bit to get through before that happens! I’ve heard so many raves about Six of Crows I think I’ll have to pick up my copy this weekend! Thanks for sharing my blog as well Shannon!
Wow! Congrats on your NaNo writing! I’m up to about 2.5k lol Sounds like life is nuts right now. I was surprised your NaNo book is contemporary. For some reason I expected Dystopian. That’s so cool that you get to see Mockingjay with Val! I wasn’t as sad when the Harry Potter movies came to an end, because I’d already went through withdrawal after the books! I couldn’t believe it was over! I also wasn’t happy with the last book. (I’ve only read it once, which considering how many times I’ve read the series is saying something.) Have a good week!
Thank you SO much Shannon for mentioning my post! It really means a lot 🙂 I’m so jealous that you’re getting to see Mockingjay with Val. I don’t think I’m even going to get to see it in cinemas 🙁
You have some great books here, because they not just look good but they also sound amazing. Now imagine my TBR growing even more :)) I need a second life just for reading all the books I want. Can’t wait to see what you think of them!
Happy reading!
My STS:http://readingadd.blogspot.ro/2015/11/stacking-shelves-41.html
Congrats on your NaNoWriMo progress! That is awesome. I just hit 30,000 words today. I feel like I am at the halfway point of the marathon. I am tired and my energy is declining and I am feeling very unmotivated. Sometimes, I just do not even know what I am writing, but at least I am getting something down. I voted for you to review Young Widows Club. I did not get that ARC and I want to know if you liked it enough to buy it. If you did, then I’m sure I will. 🙂
Gelato ! The only Italian word I learned and remembered when I went to Italy years ago, go figure 😉 I don’t know any of the books you offer to revie, so… surprise me !
Oh gosh, I was devastated when the final Harry Potter movie came out. My friends and I all dressed up and waiting in a ridiculously long line to get into the theater. It’s a great camaraderie type thing, so I really miss that as well.
CONGRATULATIONS on your NaNo word count! It’s good to see people doing well, it’s giving me more motivation to write (I’m really competitive by nature, ugh).
I also saw the first Christmas decorations here in Ljubljana – I thought it was too early as well. But then I bought some Christmas ornaments, not because I’m crazy about it or anything but because I KNOW I’ll be late with gift buying again (it happens every year) so maybe getting a head start isn’t a bad idea…
Have a good Sunday! 🙂
Oh wow look at the haul! totally lucky!
Yeah I think it is a bit too early for Christmas music, mostly because it reminds me that I need to empty my empty pockets soon on gifts D:
Was I devasted when the last Harry Potter movie came out and there weren’t anymore… I think the real question is, am I still devastated? The answer is yes. I am devastated every time I watch Harry Potter and every time I reread Harry Potter and don’t mention Hunger Games! I don’t want to go through it again!!!! We need to get the support group rolling, Shannon!
Yay! I’m so proud of you/happy for you with passing 26k! I was so behind at this point during my first real NaNo attempt! HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY! Also…I already started Christmas shopping…Christmas baking…Christmas decorating(okay, well I bought decorations anyway), and started listening to Christmas music on the 1st…. According to my extra brother it’s perfectly acceptable and I blame him entirely. I also spent today watching Hallmark channel because they already started their cheesy movie countdown to Christmas… I’m not the person to ask about it being too early for Christmas music, obviously. =)
I’m here for you and your Hunger Game feels, Shannon! =)
The thing that sticks out to me of the 583049850934895834 things going on in this post is your NaNo word count – congratulations, that is awesome! Keep up the hard work. 😀 I’ve not heard of your new books – I hope you enjoy them!
Have a fabulous week, Shannon. 🙂
Check out my STS post!
Whatttt! Christmas music already? I call it too early, definitely. We’ve actually had christmas decorations available to buy here since October, like christmas trees and everything, but christmas Music is on a different level to that. It’s not that I *don’t* like it, but… I don’t want to feel like I have that little time left! And I think sometimes we’re a little eager to celebrate these things. Time can be taken! It’s pretty funny, though. I’d have had the song stuck in my head for the rest of the day, no doubt.
The Love That Split the World has such an amazing cover! I haven’t heard much about it, but judging by your squeeing it’s something I want to look into. So I’m going to do that.
Mockingjay! I wasn’t really following the HP films when they were coming out, so I can’t say how it affected me, but with HG it’s different. I’ve been present since the first one came out and my love for the series, both film and book, is really unwavering. I’m not sure how much I’m going to like this because of how it all ends and how they look to be addressing it, from the trailers, but… I’ve got Star Wars to look forward, too, so EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE. We’ll get through this, Shannon.
SO excited for you about NaNo – that is a HUGE accomplishment!!!
Love and Gelato looks like a good book!
Yes and no to early Christmas, yes I love seeing nice things in the shops and Starbucks has nice gingerbread lattes! No is that my next door neighbour has had her tree up, fully decorated for days now, far too early!!!!!!
Yay! You got The Love that Split the World, too! I geeked out when I opened that package because I didn’t think I would be getting a copy of it.
I hope you enjoy Love & Gelato. I thought about requesting it, but I’m trying to keep my TBR under control. Spoiler alert… it’s not. lol
I’m not doing well with the end of The Hunger Games. I’m excited, but I’m also really sad because I know that it will feel so weird to walk out of the theater once the movie is over. I’m going to ball my eyes out. I already know it.
