Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It gives us a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or got for review each week. I also decided that since I do a weekly recap, it really is just good sense to link up with The Sunday Post, hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer, because that is such a fun link up as well!

Weekly Shenanigans
I read three books, but mind you, I spent over a week reading Heir of Fire. That’s a long time.
It wasn’t the best reading week ever, it wasn’t the worst. Don’t kill me but… while I liked HoF, it could have been a few hundred pages shorter.
On the Blog:
- On Monday, I gushed about Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway
- This week’s Top Ten Tuesday… had nothing to do with what I actually posted 😉
- Holly @ The Fox’s Hideaway, Val @ The Innocent Smiley, and I all posted a part of our discussion of Throne of Glass
- I asked if you were a Part-Time Perfectionist on Friday!
Giveaways:
- The June Discussion Challenge link-up and Giveaway is underway!
- The June New Release Hop is going on until the end of the month!
- Lots of time left to enter to win an ARC of The Boy Most Likely To!
Fun in the Blogosphere:
- Val @ The Innocent Smiley & Ely @ A Book So Fathomless are hosting a VERY fun reading challenge, called “Make Me Read It Read-A-Thon”. You guys can vote on my books to read at the end of this post!
- Lola @ Lola’s Reviews talks about her likes and dislikes regarding Netgalley
- Cait @ Paper Fury tells us why she always finishes books (I feel you, Cait. I feel you.)
- Jeann @ Happy Indulgence explains why she’d like an “off” button for social media.
- Jillian @ Jillian’s Books writes a sweet post sharing her admiration for bloggers
- Cassie @ The Magical Adventures of Cassie the Weird asks how you blog, and discusses her methods!
- Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl asks if a blogger’s worth is determined by how many books they read.
- Mishma @ Chasing Faerytales is celebrating her 6 month Blogoversary!
- Cynthia @ Bingeing on Books wants to know what the best course of action is if you have nothing nice to say about a book.
- Heather @ Random Redheaded Ramblings talks about her obsession with the dystopian genre!
- Ashley @ Nose Graze explains why it makes complete sense that blog tour organizers allow only positive reviews (I really, really agree with what she has to say here!)
- Larissa @ YA Midnight Reads posted an amazing discussion that every woman (and man who associates with women!) should read about self-acceptance and unattainable societal standards. Seriously, GO READ THIS.
- Kayla @ The Thousand Lives suffers from Book Amnesia (I do too, the struggle is real!!)
- Christy & Erica @ Novel Ink posted their latest OTP Battle: It’s ME (Katniss and Peeta, obviously) versus Kirsty-Marie @ Studio Reads (Celaena & Chaol). Everyone who votes for Katniss & Peeta gets a cookie!
Up Next:
Ohhh there are things! First, I will be posting my big, huge, kind of epic if I do say so myself, 1K Giveaway!! I am going to wait until the monthly giveaway has ended, so prepare for that next week! Also, I will be asking you guys to help out and answer some questions in the near future!
I am going to not-review some books, post a review of Paperweight, and probably do a tag or discussion. You just never know 😉
Now, which book should I read for the “Make Me Read It Read-A-Thon”? I will probably be able to read 3 or 4 books in that time period, so.. you get to choose 3!!

YES I AM THE FIRST TO VOTE. Hahahah. And wow how did you already read Heir of Fire???? HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DISCUSS EVERYTHING? Just kidding I’m sure we can pick another book 😛
I’m excited to read Paperweight. Was it good? Did you like it? I’ve heard good things about it…YOU’RE KEEPING ME IN THE DARK
Dude- we can and WILL still discuss it! You just just have to read it first 😉
Paperweight was pretty good- just posted my review!
The Accident Season looks very interesting. Paperweight sounds good. I hope you love all your new books.
Grace @ Books of Love
Thanks so much! Paperweight was pretty good!
Haha, “a few hundred pages shorter”. Lol! I have Paperweight! I need to read it, gr. I just did your quiz too. Ooh, and I didn’t even notice Larissa’s discussion, I’m glad you shared it!
I voted on your books! Me and Val chose all different books. Ha.
I mean… seriously. Like 150 maybe. It was long, but also, really heavy! And YAYY! Which ones did YOU choose?
I think I heard someone who felt the same way last year after reading it! On some random blog. I voted for Everything Everything, I Crawl Through It and Skyscraping!
The Accident Season looks so awesome – Can’t wait to hear what you think. Also can’t wait to hear what you thought of Paperweight. Hope you enjoy all your new books!
Thanks so much! Paperweight was pretty good 😀
I AM DYING FOR YOUR REVIEW OF PAPERWEIGHT!! Everyone seemed to love it and, I thought it was well written?? But not impressive?? Omg. I’ve become so hard to please this year. 0-0 BUT ANYWAY. So many prettiful books and I’m looking up Between Us and the Moon because I want to know if the answer is something cool like asteroids or galactic explosions. *nods*
This weekend? I’m being a lonely solo hermit while my whole family is away. I have so many devious plans to put into action — like listening to audio books without headphones</i< **gasps** I'm a wild party animal, I tell ya.
I felt the same as you (YAY US!!) I mean… I liked it, and I think some of it was done REALLY well, but I didn’t feel a strong enough emotional connection with Stevie, unless you count wanting to smack her silly an emotional connection, which I do not.
And we should have traded weekends! I would KILL to be a lonely hermit. See, I am often a hermit, but I have two smaller humans attached at all times. Alone is… something I haven’t experienced in FOUR YEARS. That’s crazy. You, on the other hand, could have attended a Berenstain Bears themed 4th birthday party 😉 There was cake!
I remember reading How To Love probably in my second or third year of college and I really enjoyed it back then. I hope you enjoy it 🙂 And wow you got a bunch of books!
my STS
Aw thanks! I loved 99 Days, so I figured I should try her other book!
Looks like Katniss and Peeta have officially won, couldn’t have been beaten by a better OTP. 😉 Also, I’m voting for Blood and Salt because then at least I’ll know whether to preorder it or not. 😀
Oh my! I will have to check this out! I mean… I am sorry for your loss, of course. But… Katniss and Peeta!! <3 I am SO excited about Blood and Salt, no worries, I will read it soon anyway 😉
Hey Shannon! FYI: the link to Lola’s NetGalley post goes to the make me read it challenge.
Thank you SO much for letting me know! I don’t understand how that happens! I mean, before I hit “schedule”, they work and then… nope. I really appreciate the heads up, they should be fixed now!
Sorry, found another one, the Magical Adventures of Cassie goes no where.
I love the idea od posting your make me a thon book options on the weekly haul post. I might steal that idea. I hoe you don’t mind…?
I can’t wait to see what you thought of Paperweight. I hope you will check out my review and let me know what you think now. I loved it. (the book not the review. well, i loved my review, too. i guess. oh nevermind)
I haven’t read any of the books you got this week at #booksfortrade, except The Hunger Games. I hope you enjoy your new reads. I am so jealous that you got The Accident Season arc! I got it via netgalley, but it would look so good on my book shelf. I hope we both enjoy it!
Nope, you can link up with Val’s post too- more people will likely vote that way too 😀
I did read your review! I think I loved it a little less, but I did really like it, and thought that the issues were handled quite well!
And thanks so much, I hope you love it too!
The Accident Season looks really intriguing! Happy reading!! <3
Thanks so much, I am excited for it!
I haven’t read any of these but happy reading!
Tsuki’s STS
Thanks you too!
Katniss and Peeta are THE OTP. (I’ll grab my cookie on the way out!).
I voted for you to read The Scorpion Rules, Vengeance Road and The Devil You Know because I need more people to talk to about them!
Hhahah thanks! Cookies for you 😀
DUDE- those 3 would have been some of MY top choices, so GOOD VOTING! I am so excited for them!!
Great haul this week! Your Voice is All I Hear is one that I really want to check out. I’m doing the same read-a-thon. It seems like so much fun! Have an awesome week and enjoy your new books. 🙂
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
Aw thanks! I think the read-a-thon will be SO fun! I will have to vote on your list when you post it, be sure to let me know!!
That package from Penguin!! :O I also haven’t read Heir Of Fire yet. I plan to read it before Queen Of Shadows releases. I actually got it before it came out by I was intimidated by it’s size!
The size IS intimidating- and I can’t lie, it was intimidating while reading too 😉 But it was good!
Your Voice is all I hear sounds very interesting and I am curious how it handled the issue of schrizophenia. I have leanred a bit about the topic in uni and it sounds like a horrible mental illness to have and a difficult topic to write about.
Thanks for linking to my post about netgally, I am glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Have a great week and I hope you’ll enjoy your new books!
I agree, I think it must be SO difficult to write about (and of course, live with!). I like that this book sounds like it takes a different approach with it being a loved one who has the illness, not the main character. I am intrigued 🙂
YOUR BOOKS. They look gorgeous! 😀 My request for Your Voice is All I Hear is yet to be approved at NG, but I’m crossing my fingers on it. And the books you got from Books For Trade look TEMPTING <3 Anyway, good luck on the readathon! I seriously want to join, but July will be too busy for me. Then another problem is that I can only finish ONE BOOK per week. ^_^" Haha. Have fun and, again, good luck Shannon!
Ohh my fingers are crossed for you!! I hope they approve you- this is actually my first approval from them, they are oddly picky- I was denied for a LOT of their books, so I hope you have better luck!
I know what you mean, July is going to be ROUGH for me, but I do need to read these books (most of them are review books, or at least BEA books!)- and I *think* I can do 3 (but I may or may not try to get a head start- I do LOVE to cheat 😉 ) Hope you have a wonderful week !
Wow! A stack of new books there. Have a great week!
Thanks, you too!
I just received the ARC for Your Voice is all I Hear too. I am not super crazy about the cover, but the premise sounds great. For your readathon, I picked Skyscraping, Everything, Everything, and Under the Painted Sky. Of course the only one of those I have actually read is Skyscraping. As you know, I LOVED it!! Also, since it is written entirely in verse, it is kind of a fast read. Too fast actually. There were a few times I had to remind myself to slow down just so I could savor the words.
I agree, the cover isn’t my favorite, but it sounds so good! And I bought Skyscraping because you know, your review 😀 So I have to get to it soon!
Oh, The archived ! I’ve read mitigated reviews about that one but the concept does appeal to me, it makes me think about Dr Who’s episode in the Library ! I should be reading Heir of fire in August, I’ll let you know how it went, lol ! Have a great week 😉
OOOOH yes you must, I am curious as to your thoughts! And I have read reviews of The Archived, so many, and then have had people yelling at me like “you haven’t READ IT!?” Oops? Hope you have a great week too!
Yay voted Everything Everything I am excited to get too as well as Your Voice is all I hear. Have a great week. I am loving your new blog design.
Aw thanks so much! I am excited to read them both too- of course, I DID only put books I was super excited about up for voting 😉
Great haul! The Hunger Games and The Fault In Our Stars are amazing 🙂 Hope you enjoy them all!
Oh I agree! I have read them both, I just um, collect copious amounts of Hunger Games editions 😉 And NEEDED a physical copy of TFIOS, as you do. 😀
Great haul! I have Your Voice Is All I Hear and I’m excited to read it! The Accident Season looks really great! I hope you enjoy all of your new books 🙂
Thanks so much! i am excited for them too 🙂
I am taking forever to read anything but am getting through a new audiobook most days.
Oh wow, a whole audiobook every day!? Impressive! I don’t think I would have the attention span 😉
Sending hugs for including me on your list!!!!!
I just love the UK covers for The Hunger Games, there is such a vast difference in the covers we get here and what the rest of the world get!
Have a great week!
Aw, you are quite welcome! I enjoyed the post 🙂 And I agree- the UK covers are fun- especially the neon ones, they are AMAZING!
The Archived and Between Us and the Moon are both books I want to read! I think I have the latter one, but I am not sure. I would have to check my kindle for that one. And as well as that, it looks like you have some more fabulous books. Happy reading 😉
Check out my haul and giveaway: http://olivia-savannah.blogspot.nl/2015/06/book-haul-5-part-2-i-have-to-review.html
I love that you aren’t sure which books you have either- I was afraid I was the only one who did that! If you do have it, I hope you enjoy it 😉
I agreed on Ashley’s post about blog tours, too!!! It was kind of a “duh!” moment I hope for a lot of bloggers!!
I loved voting for your next book!! My three were up there 😉 I win something, right? Ha, ha!!!
Hope next week is a better reading week! Mine last week was pretty yucky, too….
Right!? I mean, for me, everyone who reads my blog KNOWS that if it is a blog tour, and I am just posting an excerpt… it’s not likely that I loved the book. I would gush 😉 But i still post all the stuff and do what I am supposed to because I made a commitment. If you don’t like the way blog tours work, I mean, feel free to not sign up, right? (Glad someone else agrees 😀 )
And YES- you get a cookie- or three, even! Hope your next week in reading is better too!
Looks like you have some great books to choose from, so I voted to help you out. LOL
sherry @ fundinmental Sherry’s Shelves
Aww thanks!! 😀
All those wonderful books. Looks like you’ll be busy for a while. Makes me want to cave and grab more myself. LOL
Hahah thanks so much! I know what you mean, the struggle to buy books is kind of always there 😉
Looks like you have tons of wonderful books to choose from which can be almost as confusing as not having any! I sometimes feel a little pulled in all directions from all my pretty books. Great links! I see several discussions I missed that I really want to check out. Have a great week!
It is really true! Sometimes having TOO many books is tough- because I want to read them all. Thanks so much, I hope you have a great week too!
Fantastic haul! The Accident Season sounds weird but in a good good way. I’m looking forward to reading Alive. I had a GREAT reading week…but that’s only because I lost power for most of the week because of the horrible storms that came through. I now have a pile of books to review. Thank goodness my power and internet are back! I had no StS post this week because of my forced Amish conditions this week, so next week I’ll do a two week wrap up. Enjoy your new books!
Michelle @ Michelle’s Minions
Oh no! Losing power is the WORST! Ugh, and in the summer, with no AC, yuck. I hope it wasn’t out for *too* long- though any amount of time is too long for me! Glad you at least had some good books to read 😉
I’m really looking forward to reading The Archived – I hope you enjoy it! 🙂
By the way, I have nominated you for the Blogger Recognition Award! You really deserve it!
Awww thank you! That is really sweet 😀
Looking forward to your thoughts on Paperweight. I’m curious about that one myself. I REALLY need to read Throne of Glass. I wish I had more time to read so I could read more… there’s just so many books that I’m dying to get to!! Hope you enjoy your week! 🙂
Thanks! It was pretty good, though not as emotional as I’d hoped it wouuld be. You DO need to read Throne of Glass- but remember, the books get better 😉 Hope you have a great week too!
I HOPE YOU READ SCARLET. AND WALK ON EARTH A STRANGER.
I WILL. I didn’t even put the “big” ARCs on there because I knew everyone would vote for them 😉 I do think Scarlet will win though.
Thanks for sharing my post Shannon! I may be getting a copy of Paperweight soon, so I’m looking forward to your thoughts on it. YES Heir of Fire felt draggy to me as well, sounds like I’m not the only one! Have a lovely week ahead!
Aw you are quite welcome! I am glad I am not the only one with HoF too! Everyone kept telling me it was going to blow me away and it kind of didn’t!
I was the only one who voted for The White Rose, that made me LOL. You should pick up Everything, Everything – it is amazing! Your book haul looks so pretty though *stares* Enjoy reading them <3 Look forward to your posts.
Bwhahah. THE WHITE ROSE! No worries, I will read it soon anyway, the people who didn’t vote for it must be confused 😉 Thanks so much!
Great books this week. I am especially excited about How to Love
I hope you enjoy these pretties 🙂 Happy Reading!
Here’s my Weekly Wrap Up
Michelle @ Book Briefs
Aw thanks so much!!
I am honestly afraid to buy Heir of Fire because like HOW IS A BOOK THAT BIG WHERE AM I SUPPOSED TO PUT IT. And I still have not read The Archived, even though it’s been on my wishlist for YEARS. I feel like I should fix this. (Ten minutes from now, I’ll forget all about it again.) And I don’t think I ever said it but YAYYYYYY SHANNON CONGRATS!!
RIGHT!? It was so heavy and so huge. It hurt my wrists! It was pretty good though. But… Queen of Shadows is 656 pages. So I don’t even know what to do with that, other than kill small rodents? But um, while I was looking it up, I pre ordered it. So there’s that. And THANK YOU!!! 😀
Great stuff! The Accident Season looks really interesting! Happy reading 😉
Thanks so much! I am excited for it too 😀
I see Vengeance Road being heavily promoted on Twitter. I would love to read it.
I voted for Everything Everything and The White Rose!! On my poll, Everything Everything is close with Red Queen so I’ll be reading it 😀 And yay for another person that loved The Jewel! I can’t wait to start on The White Rose.
Here’s my poll.
