This Week At Midnight (50)

TWaM

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It gives us a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or got for review each week. I also decided that since I do a weekly recap, it really is just good sense to link up with The Sunday Post, hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Weekly Shenanigans

I read stuff.

Not going to lie, it was a strange reading week, to say the least. I am still not completely sure what to make of The Walls Around Us, but even more so, Infandous. Strange, strange stuff.

On the Blog:

Still about a week left to link up for February’s Discussion Challenge link up and giveaway!

But the February New Release Giveaway Hop ends tonight!! (2/28 at 11:59pm EST)

Fun in the Blogosphere:

Up Next:

Fun stuff! I have posted the sign up link for the March 2015 New Release Giveaway Hop, so if you feel like joining us… you should! It’s such a fun giveaway, and I am so extra excited to be co-hosting with Librarian Lavender! Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction and I will also be adding the new March link-up for the Discussion Challenge! On Monday, I am taking part in the Last List Blog Hop hosted by Cuddlebuggery to support the Egmont Last List authors. I will be featuring author Kristi Helvig and her upcoming release, Strange Skies.

Then of course, the usual stuff, reviews, and the third part in the blogger survey results: following other blogs! Plus, I will be joining Contemporary Conversations, hosted by Kayla @ The Thousand Lives and Veronica @ Talking Bookworm. Basically, March is already full of win!

I am pretty excited for spring to be only 20 days away! And so much to look forward to in March… what is your favorite thing about spring? Any new books added to your collection?

  1. I just linked up for the March giveaway hop! Also, I got a stack of books from Brittany as part of her giveaway and they look awesome! Thanks for mentioning my post out of all the ones you could pick.

  2. Great wrap up! When I finished The Walls Around Us, I didn’t know what to make of it at first either. I was very confused. But then I decided that I loved it. 🙂

    • Thanks! I am still thinking it over. I mean, I did like it, even if I didn’t always like the characters, but I was also kind of confused by the end, like, did that actually happen? I need to figure it out before I can review the thing!

  3. Ooh, you have Becoming Jinn! Kudos on that — it’s an absolutely fantastic premise and cover. And how interesting that Nikki’s post on ARCs came in the same week as your survey Part 2. (Absolutely loved that, by the way.) And I’ll be checking out the March new releases — I’m about to order books from TBD, so might preorder a couple as well 😀

    • Thanks! I am excited about Becoming Jinn, the cover is gorgeous! Plus, I haven’t read any jinn-inspired books before, so that’ll be new and fun!

OHH TBD, I could order ALL the books from there. I should probably be stopped!

    • Yeah, it was good, I liked the way it was written, but I am STILL not sure I understand exactly what happened in one VERY crucial part. Definitely worth reading though, IMO! Hope you enjoy it 🙂

  4. Becoming Jinn is on my to-read list as well, and I’m really looking forward to reading it! My favorite thing about spring is that the skies are finally blue again, but it’s not too hot to enjoy the sun and all the flowers and green stuff (my mum is a biologist, I think it shows) make you appreciate nature after a long winter. 🙂

    • YES. ALL THOSE THINGS about spring! I love that it isn’t too hot, because I do not LIKE when it is really hot. I like SPRING weather. Nice, getting warmer, sunny, stuff growing. OH, and longer days! That is a huge plus!

  5. Oh, spring! How I miss it! I’m ready for temperatures above zero. I already did a happy dance over you getting Rook (on Instagram). Infandous does sound like it could be weird. There’s not much info on it, the description is pretty vague everywhere. I keep am eye out for your thoughts on it. Have a great week!

    Michelle @ Michelle’s Minions

    • Oh, I am right there with you- NO MORE with the below zero nonsense! I can’t handle it! And thanks for your shared excitement about Rook 🙂

Infandous was definitely weird, and definitely not for everyone. I am hoping to get my review up ASAP, but I don’t even know what to say about it!

    • Ah, Puerto Rico sounds AMAZING. I am so jealous right now, you have no idea. I am on my way for an impromptu visit 😉

And I agree, the cover is SO pretty for Becoming Jinn!

    • Well when you read The Walls Around Us, explain what happened to me, okay? 😉 I mean, I think I get it but… it was crazy! And I will definitely let you know about Becoming Jinn!

    • Thanks! I am excited for the event! I am just trying to figure out WHEN to post, this month is seriously insane! But I think the first challenge I will be able to squeeze in this week- though I have to make a poem first 😉

  6. OH. BECOMING JINN. YAY. I really really want ot know if that’s good because I have an unhealthy obsession with it already. That’s me. Yup. I always get obsessed about books I know nothing about. -_- But genies and jinns?! WHAT COULD GO WRONG. xD
March definitely does look full of win. I shall be here, stalking as usual, so I don’t miss anything. x)

    • Yay for stalking! I love a good stalker, and I love to do some stalking, so we’re good.

I will let you know all about the jinns! I don’t even really know what they are, which is why I think I am so interested. And also, the cover is pretty.

  7. I am ready for Spring to be here as well. Go away winter, GO AWAY.

You got some awesome books! I haven’t read either of them, though they both sound really good. Happy reading. 🙂

    • I know, that is totally what hooked me! I mean, Paris!? Absolutely! I am excited about the genies too, I don’t think I’ve read much about them before. Thanks, hope you have a great week too!

    • I am keeping mine too, it is so fun! And I was planning on about the same- maybe 2 weeks from now for Becoming Jinn, and then Rook right after it. I still need to read Half Wild and I am running out of days! Thanks, I hope you have a great week too 🙂

  8. Is it sad that I think it’s spring now because it’s over 20 degrees? Haha.

YAY FOR BOOKS. I hope you enjoy Becoming Jinn because that’s one of my anticipated reads, so I’ll be looking forward to your thoughts 🙂

    • Nope, because that is kind of how I feel! I am busting out the flip flops when it (supposedly) hits 40 this weekend! SPRING! Thanks, I will definitely let you know about Becoming Jinn!

  9. You got yourself some good-looking new books 🙂 Spring is coming here, the temperatures are warmer but my favorite thing of all is when all the flowers start showing : flowers everywhere with bright, happy colors and most of them smelling like heaven, a enchantment of the senses. Have a great week 😉

  10. So jealous that you guys are going to have Spring, soon. Spring is like one of the best seasons, ever. Here in the Philippines, the hot and humid season of summer is upon us, and oh man, the heat is like something you would never believe. Intense doesn’t even give it justice! And I’m so jealous of your Becoming Jinn! I love to read more about jinns and I’m so happy there are more about them coming out lately 😀 CAn’t wait to see what you think about it!

    • Aw, I don’t think I would do well with really hot and humid! Actually, I know I wouldn’t. I would be like, the Philippines #1 complainer, until they made me go home 😉 And thanks, I will let you know about Becoming Jinn, I am excited too! Hope the heat lets up soon!

  11. Spring means summer here in the south. We are having a spring day today, cloudy with a call for a bit of rain. We don’t have much of a spring before it quickly goes to summer. But I like that. I could live with 80 degrees all year round. 🙂

    • I feel like that is happening more up north too. A very short spring, and it goes basically from snowing to 90 degrees in a couple weeks’ time. I do not like. I like the weather a bit more… temperate 😉

  12. I just lost a bit of time clicking the links on your post. I almost forgot to come back and comment a thank you. I got quite a bit this week I am excited about, starting with Red Queen and I’ll Meet You There!
I am looking forward to thawing out here. There are piles of snow everywhere, and some of it is ugly and dirty. It is in the way in big piles when I try to pull into traffic. I am a bit sick of it. I guess everyone here is really ready for spring. They say it is beautiful here when the leaves come back, I can’t wait for that.

    • Aww thanks! I am glad you enjoyed them 😉 OH I’ll Meet You There is SO GOOD! I am excited for Red Queen too!

I agree, snow, BE GONE! It is so gross at this point, all salty and dirty, and needs to basically vanish! I need some warmth 😉

  13. My yard is filled with robins which means spring is pretty much here. In the south you have a couple of mild weeks and it jumps right into hot summer.
I like strange so I’ll be checking out your books.

  14. I’m looking forward to March’s discussion challenge! I really hope I can participate more this month. It’s actually going to be fall where I live instead of spring, but I’m happy for it, because the heat of summer is getting unbearable.
    Happy reading this week! 😉

    • Aw yay! I am hoping you can too, I look forward to your discussions! Oh, I hear you, I am always happy when fall rolls around. I kind of wish it could just be fall and spring forever 😉

  15. I got Becoming Jinn too! (earc) I can’t wait for warm. I’m sorry that you had a weird reading week. Mine was good, just slow. Mini slump ending. Sounds like March will be eventful.
