2015 Discussion Challenge Welcome & Sign Ups

2015 Discussion Challenge3

Welcome to the 2015 Book Blog Discussion Challenge hosted by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction and Shannon @ It Starts at Midnight!

This time of year, there are tons of reading challenges starting up (which we LOVE!). But we wanted to challenge our fellow book bloggers to not only read more, but talk more too. That’s where the idea for this challenge was born!

So often book bloggers mean to post more discussions on our blogs, but we just don’t quite get around to it. Well, we wanted to give everyone a little motivation to keep the discussions going, plus give us a place to link up our discussions so that more people will see our precious words of wisdom (or … you know … our GIF-filled rants).

I hope you’ll join us for this challenge and pledge yourself to posting more discussions in this upcoming year. I promise we’ll have lots of fun talking together!

Here’s All You Have to Do:

  • The 2015 Book Blog Discussion Challenge runs from January 1st until December 31st, 2014.
  • Sign-ups will remain open until December 31st, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. Central
  • You DO NOT have to have a book blog to join this challenge. If you don’t have a book blog, you may link up to discussions that you’ve started on Goodreads groups.
  • Create a sign-up post announcing your intention to participate and link up below. If you do not have a blog, you can link up to your Goodreads profile. There is no need to say what your discussion posts will be about – just tell us that you’re joining and let us know what your goal is.
  • Please link back to both challenge hosts and include the challenge button in your sign-up posts.
  • Every month, we’ll update this 2015 Book Blog Challenge Page with the links to that month’s Challenge linky – so you’ll always know where to find the latest link-up!
  • Share it! The more people we get to participate in this, the more awesome discussions we can all be a part of and the more fun it will be! So, invite your friends to join us!
  • This challenge is to help get us discussing books and book blogging, so talk about whatever you want as long as it’s relevant to book blogging. Discussions can be book related or book blogging related (or generally blogging related – no discussions about things that are completely off-topic like travel or fashion, etc). Discussions can also be about you personally if it’s a get-to-know-you type post.
  • There will be a kick-off post on January 1, 2015 on both Feed Your Fiction Addiction and It Starts at Midnight where you’ll be able to leave your links for any January discussions. At the beginning of every month, a new post will go up on both blogs for that month’s links.
  • If you forgot to leave your discussion link in the challenge month in which you posted the discussion or the linky list closed before you had a chance to leave it, you can leave it in a future month. (No duplicates though.)
  • There will also be monthly giveaways, so make sure you check in each month!
  • Use the hashtag #LetsDiscuss2015 to share your progress and connect with other participants on Twitter.
  • Have questions? Feel free to ask in the comments!

The Levels:

1-12 – Discussion Dabbler
13-24 – Creative Conversationalist
25-36 – Chatty Kathy
37-48 – Terrifically Talkative
49+ – Gift of the Gab

I am going to try for the Terrifically Talkative. I am leaving the Gift of Gab to Nicole, and being a bit less ambitious!

When Nicole asked me about joining her in this fabulous idea of hers (she is the creative genius here, guys!) it took me all of two seconds to give a resounding “YES!”, because I love a discussion! I can’t wait to challenge myself to post more discussions, but even more I cannot wait to read and comment on all of YOUR amazing topics, because I have a feeling that you all are going to come up with some really great stuff 🙂

  1. YES THIS IS AN AWESOME CHALLENGE! Most challenges are books read, so I’m glad this is different! Also, I rarely post discussion posts, because I’m not that creative, so I think this is a GREAT way to challenge myself!

THANKS SHANNON! And of course Nicole too!

  2. Great challenge idea. I wanted to visit both the hosts. 🙂 Sounds like I should join thing thinger, I love discussion posts and we do have a weekly feature.

  3. This is a fantastic idea, ladies! 😀 Unfortunately, I’ve already signed up for too many challenges for next year, and with starting university, I don’t want to set myself up for failure – I look forward to reading all the discussions that contribute towards this challenge, though! 😀

    • Hi, Cait! Nicole here. There won’t be any specific prompts for discussions – just a place to link them up. Shannon and I thought this would be a great way to encourage more discussions and to link up everyone’s so we can all see the fun discussions that people have been posting throughout the month! We’d love to have you join us! 🙂

  4. I was writing my resolutions yesterday and I put post more discussions at thee top. What a great idea! I should so do this. Now I just have to come up with topics. That’s thee hardest part. Why aren’t you coming up with topics for me? lol I’m going to go for Creative Conversationalist even though I’d like to post one ever other week.

And of course I messed up adding my link, I’m now the only one without a name…

  5. This looks like and awesome challenge! I love writing discussion posts-assuming that I have the right type of post in mind. What exactly do you mean by discussion posts? I usually think of them as posts that aren’t reviews, linkups or roundups, but more of like a fun essay type post with questions at the end for commenters. Do those count as discussion posts? If so, I would love to linkup.

  6. HOW DID I NOT HEAR ABOUT THIS? I AM SO IN! You know I love me some discussions!

Also, I think I’m going to write a huge post about ALL of the challenges I’m participating in this coming year but that won’t be until sometime in January. So is it okay if I still link up right now? 🙂

  7. Okay, I’m totally doing this(just made my announcement post for all the challenges I’m going to do) even though I will probably forget a couple months from now and totally fail!

I love this idea though! I tend not to post a lot of discussions, I feel. But when I do I tend to come up with a lot all at once! Still, I only post like half my discussions because I end up feeling like they aren’t original enough…maybe I could do a discussion about that! =)

  8. I love this idea! I definitely wanted to challenge myself to do something like this because I do love to blog, but I kind of lose motivation. I think this will definitely help. Genius idea!

  9. It should come up with creative ideas and thinking.
Users can add friends and send them messages, and update their
personal profiles to notify friends about themselves.
These are intangibles that may not be able to be measured as direct
income but will help your profits down the line.

  10. Music is that art which can be learned only when a person feel and learn it from inside.

Once we have your songs and information, we can get you a proof back to begin working with in as little as just 48 hrs.
On the website you just have to type your favourite artist and then click search and a button will
come up on the screen which will tell you how download mp3 music.

  11. It contained none of the fundamental principles of Lean Six Sigma design. Diversion of pharmaceutical supplies by nurses can be addressed and prevented by secure vending automation. Hot air is inflated via the perforated bed leading to the product to stream in the air stream.

  12. First of all, this is a really awesome idea for the Halloween and secondly, this costume can be easily made.
All our services are insured and every one of our clearance and cleaning team
are dedicated, responsible and highly experienced persons who always take pride in the service that
they give. Many homeowners dread renovation projects, landscaping, houseextensions and such because there is a lot of waste implied and disposing it isnot always easy, especially if you don’t have the.

  13. This sounds like such a wonderful challenge! One thing tho… I tried to sign up and it’s saying I can’t submit because my link has already been used… weird. Anyways, can you let me know if I get signed up for this thing? Because I really want to do it! And now that I have (attempted) to sign up xD Do I make a post about this?
