Top Authors I’ve Only Read One Book From But NEED to Read More

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is: “Top Authors I’ve Only Read One Book From But NEED to Read More”.

This is a hard one! Once I find an author I like, I usually try to keep going. Plus, so many books are a series, that by default I read more than one.  (The book I have read is pictured and links to Goodreads, and the author name links take you to their Goodreads page!)

1. Caragh O’Brien Of course I want to read the second book of whatever series The Vault of Dreamers is in, but I also want to read Birthmarked

2. Jillian Cantor Sure, I do want more Searching for Sky, but I am also wanting to read more! Margot sounds so amazing (and obviously heart-wrenching), and basically, I just adored the way she wrote in Searching For Sky

3. Aimee Carter Clearly, I need Captive now. Sooner than now. Yesterday would work. But then I found out she has a whole other series. And, I haven’t read it!

4. Jessica Shirvington She has all kinds of books I have never heard of! Since I pretty much adored One Past Midnight (review is coming soon, promise!), I will definitely be checking out her other books!

5. Victoria Scott Obviously, I need Salt & Stone in my life ASAP, but I also would like to read the Dante Walker series at some point, since seemingly everyone else has!

6. Trisha Leaver Creed was a real piece of work. I mean that in a good, and freakish way. I couldn’t sleep the other night when I finished it (almost entirely in one sitting, which is really rare for me). I am so unbelievably excited for her upcoming book The Secrets We Keep too!

7. Jenny Han Again, I desperately need P.S. I Still Love You, but there is such a plethora of Jenny Han’s work out there, and I am really looking forward to reading it soon!

8. Michael Grant Okay, okay, I have only read Gone, and the first few chapters of Hunger. But, I will read the series someday! I will. I need to know what happens. Also, Messenger of Fear sounds kind of awesome too.

9. Abigail Haas Obviously, Dangerous Boys must happen. I’d also like to read some of the stuff she has written as Abby McDonald too!

10. Sarah Dessen True story, I own like, three Sarah Dessen books. I just haven’t read them. I really liked The Truth About Forever too, I don’t know why I haven’t read them yet!

So, which authors do you need to read more of? Do you recommend any books by any of these lovely authors?

  1. I absolutely adored Dangerous Boys. Abigail Haas is an amazing writer. I’ve read one book from her as Abby McDonald. I didn’t like it quite so much as the Dangerous… books.

  2. Yes yes to Abigail Haas. If you liked DG you will NOT be disappointed with DB. I promise it. 😉 And Michael Grant?! AFSJDAKFLD Only favourite author ever! I think (I have no idea, my blog schedule slips my mind all the time) I’m reviewing Messenger of Fear this week. And by “review” I mean “flail”. I just love all his books so much. I’ve read 9 of them!! DEDICATION.

    • Yes, I plan on reading DB ASAP! And I know you adore Michael Grant, I am so sorry that I have fallen behind on his books! I really do intend to read them, I promise. And I am looking forward to this Messenger of Fear review!

  3. I hope you read all of Jenny Han and Sarah Dessen books, they are all truly amazing. And Dante Walker series is good also. I have yet to read anything by the other authors you mentioned.

  4. I’m also dying to read PS I Love You by Jenny Han. 2015 is so far away! 🙂 I haven’t read any of the other authors actually. Except for Jenny Han, who’s also on my list 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

    Here’s My TTT 🙂

  5. I really enjoyed all of Jenny Han’s books that I have read. The Summer trilogy was impossible to put down! I want to pick up her Burn for Burn series soon too. I recommend Keeping the Moon from Sarah Dessen, as it is one of my favorites by her along with The Truth About Forever.

  6. I know how you feel there are so many good books out there that sometimes some get forgotten. Usually when I find an author I like I stick with them, so the only ones where I’ve read only one of their books have just started writing like Chelsea Pitcher who wrote the Last Changeling (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18658149-the-last-changeling) Maggie Stiefvater is the only author who’s written more, but I’ve only read one book by her, Sinner and I enjoyed it so I plan to go back and read the others.

  7. Victoria Scott is on my list too!! I really enjoyed Fire & Flood and now I want to know why everyone is in love with Dante Walker. And oh, I forgot about Aimee Carter! Again, I enjoyed Pawn (so twisty and puzzling). I need to read more of hers! Ooh, I’m so happy that you loved Creed! I’m so excited to read that one (but it doesn’t come out until November, right?). And clearly I need to read Jenny Han and Abigail Haas.

    • Me too! People have like, Dante buttons and stuff all over the place. Who is this dude?! Pawn is AMAZING! I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did, but man it was good!

Yep Creed comes out in November. It was horrifying. I don’t know if I can even say I *liked* it (because that would make me messed up as a human) but it was… intense.

    • Definitely read a Victoria Scott book! I loved Fire & Flood. And I may have already pre-ordered P.S. I Still Love You… oops? It doesn’t have a cover, but I already bought it 😉

  8. I’ve only read Micheal Grant and Sarah Dessen off your list…and I didn’t love either of them.
From reviews I’ve pretty much determined that I just picked a bad Sarah Dessen book to start with and I still want to read more of her because I love contemporary and like how could I not?

I also really want to read Jenny Han, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. =)

    • I hear people enjoy Sarah Dessen, so it could have been an off book. I liked the one I read, but I think I could only read them occasionally, contemporary and I have to mingle in small doses 😉 And I hope my time with Michael Grant gets better. Because Gone… I almost DNFed.

  9. Thanks for the shout-out, Shannon. Crazy thrilled that you liked CREED, and my heartfelt apologies for any nightmares it may have spawned 🙂 THE SECRETS WE KEEP is coming your way shortly!

    • Absolutely! The book was INSANE. I could not put it down. Like, I wanted them all out of there, and I couldn’t stop reading until it happened! I really think it was one of the most unique and terrifying books I have ever read, it was quite a ride, I cannot wait for The Secrets We Keep!
