My newest adventure

When I was little, I used to read like a crazy person. Every minute that I wasn’t in school or swimming, I was basically found with my nose in a book. I was a fiend. Somewhere along the way, probably around late high school/early college, I drifted away from reading. Apparently, between having to read stuff I didn’t like for school, swimming constantly, and (at least in college) drinking on the regular, reading had taken a back seat.

In my twenties, I started to get back into reading a bit. Certainly not like I used to, but I began to find some books interesting again and would pick them up when I had the chance. But everything changed when a friend recommended (nay, insisted) that I read The Hunger Games series. I moaned at her that I didn’t think I would be interested in it, didn’t have the time with a baby, and basically any excuse under the sun that I could come up with to avoid it. But she persisted, and I gave in. And it kind of changed everything, as cheesy at that may sound.

I read the books in about 5 days, and I think it only took that long because I had to wait for the second and third to ship. Since then, I have re-read them nine times, which probably counts as having some kind of mental disorder. I have also fallen completely head over heals in love with the young adult dystopian genre in general, and seek out every book I can find to read. This year alone, I have already read 104 books, which if you ask me, is no small feat with a toddler and a pregnancy! I have a few friends who like to know what I have been reading, and I always love to recommend the books that have had an impact on me, so I figured why not start a blog to review the books I have read? This way, I can write the review once, and direct all questions right to the post, and hopefully give some awesome authors the credit they deserve for writing some very great books.

However, starting this new venture at 36 weeks of a high risk pregnancy was probably not the most aptly-timed situation, so I fear it will take some time to fully get these shenanigans up and running. So bear with me, and feel free to share any books that you’ve loved!
