Welcome to October’s Monthly Minutes at Midnight!

Here’s the deal: I’ll share the books I’ve obtained, posts of interest from others, giveaways I have happening, and just general random shenanigans. You know I love a shenanigan.  Also, covers all link to Goodreads, because I am awesome. As always, I link up with the Wrap Up Round Up, too!

The Books

My Throat an Open Grave by Tori BovalinoUnholy Terrors by Lyndall Clipstone

Huge thanks to the publishers for these! Perfect for Spooky Season!

eARCs:

Huge thanks to the publishers for these lovelies! And okay maybe I was a tiny bit ridiculous this month? 🤷‍♀️ (Jk I was completely ridiculous)

Purchased:

Not too bad, right? Prophet, Last Ones Left Alive, Your Mind is a Terrible Thing

Won/Gifted/Traded:

Thanks to the publishers for this one!

Shenanigans Since Last Time:

I read 8 books this month. Ooof. This one actually hurts. It’s like October saw September and was like “hold my beer”. As you’ll see though, I had zero time, so.

At least they were pretty good as a whole?

Here are some of the loveliest/most entertaining/super helpful/just plain interesting posts I found this month!

Fancy & New Since Last I Saw You!

I love looking at pretty covers! So here are some new ones that I have fallen in love with since our last update!

Pretty covers are pretty.  Also holy covers,

Things we need to talk about at this juncture:

  • WE’RE BACK, BITCHES!!  Yes, that’s right, Conageddon 4 is happening! And way sooner than I imagined: in March 2024! In Boston again of course, and the guests should be announced soon. Tickets go on sale in two weeks, who’s joining me?!
  • Aces won Back-to-Back WNBA titles! And Sammy and I were there for the one game in the series they lost 😂 The game was super fun though, L’il Kim did the halftime show, I fell and hurt myself pretty badly (that part was less fun), Joan Jett was trying to shoot the t-shirt cannon, it was a good time. And, your girl drove there. Yes, I drove from PA to Brooklyn, via Manhattan. I’m sorry, but that is just badass.

  • Sammy and I also turned 10! How is my tiny baby 10?! Make it make sense, I say. Guess what else is 10? This stupid site! That is moderately impressive, especially considering how insane the last decade has been- both personally, and globally!
  • The month was seriously bananas! Between full time work/student teaching, 3 classes, and life, AND the trip to NY and Sam’s birthday, you’d think that would be it. You’d be wrong. Took Lena to see the Eras Tour movie, Sam got his brown belt (impressive, right?), Lena finished up fall softball, and then Halloween, which is today, which I have to try to do while in class. Send help, basically 😂 (Also, I need to come up with over $2k for student teaching in one month. I… have no idea how I am going to do that? If ever you wanted to buy a book or a lawnmower or whatever from a link, now would be the time, friends  😂  They said I’d need it before I was done with the program, but apparently that… is not the case, le sigh. It’s always something, right?)

Have a great November, loves! Let me know how your month was! Looking forward to anything coming up? Who’s in for Conageddon 4!?

  1. Girl, same though. August was hard, September ramped it up, and October decided to show off. On the plus side…books!

Do they not have a student loan program or something? It’s not like anyone taking a night course on top of working full time has thousands to spare. UGH.

Only 5 months til Con! Eeeeee!

    • Yeah so, no. Because it isn’t an actual degree program (well- not yet, though the costs of that will be separate, which is a whole other thing hah), just a certification program, it doesn’t qualify for aid. Funny enough, they sent me the bill on a Monday and wanted it paid by Friday, and I just laughed. I mean- I am not technically done with the program until May, so Idk why I have to have it *now*, but here we are!

YESSS they said they are announcing the guests next week! EEEEP! I assume that you’re going to do GA if you go? The VIP party was funnnn though, I honestly think it may be worth the money, which is why it is a higher priority for me than tuition 😂 (well- that, and it’s way easier to come up with $500 than over $2k! My mom is giiving me a hard time about it- “you can’t pay for Conageddon if you can’t afford to pay for student teaching”, to that I say, I can, and I will.)

    • I have driven in some scaryass places (Philly, DC, Vegas, literally anywhere in NJ 😂) but Manhattan takes the cake because you legit have to shove your way in if you’re ever going to get anywhere. Like- cars were literally hitting each other (not hard but still!) and no one even blinked! It is next level odd. And thank you so much!! (And glad you did not get hit by a train!)

  2. You trying to get mom of the year because you sure should win! Eras, WNBA finals, driving in Brooklyn (I hate driving there), you did a lot of great things last month, and now, you are a mom to two double digit kids. I call shenanigans. Glad you made some great memories!

    • AW thank you so much! Seriously– how are they both so old!? Brooklyn was bad, but Manhattan was next level. Like- people there literally hit each other and do not care! And you have to shove your way in if you have any hopes of ever leaving! Then people are yelling and beeping and… it’s a lot!

  3. Wow, so many books in October! And so much craziness! Glad your Con is back! They’re just starting to announce who will be here in KC at our Planet ComicCon for celebrity guests, no one so far I will spend the money on. Although my cousin is excited for the Sons of Anarchy stars. And happy 10th anniversary for your blog too!
