Welcome to March’s Monthly Minutes at Midnight!

Here’s the deal: I’ll share the books I’ve obtained, posts of interest from others, giveaways I have happening, and just general random shenanigans. You know I love a shenanigan.  Also, covers all link to Goodreads, because I am awesome. As always, I link up with the Wrap Up Round Up, too!

The Books

For Review/From Publishers:

Hugest of thanks to Fierce Reads for the Firekeeper’s Daughter boxBig Honcho Media and Netflix for the Moxie boxand Bloomsbury for Violet Ghosts(Which, I have been referring to as “Violent Ghosts”, whoops. Big difference, I bet.)

eARCs:

Huge thanks to the publishers for these lovelies! (SO many most-anticipated books here!)

Purchased:

I wasn’t as bad this month. Though I also really had to work to not buy anything, so many books came out, and I will only be able to resist so long. So basically good luck to me in April. ?‍♀️

A History of What Comes Next by Sylvain Neuvel ♦ In the Quick by Kate Hope Day ♦ On a Sunbeam by Tille Walden ♦ That Way Madness Lies by Dahlia Adler et al ♦ The Erasure Initiative by Lili Wilkinson ♦ Jordan Jasper Green Funko by Sonya Collections

Won/Gifted/Traded:

Thanks to S&S for the big ol’ box of books! And thanks to the pub for We Are Inevitableand funny story about The Bridge, someone tried to sell me an ARC which I got very mad about, obviously, so they gave me my money back and said to keep the book, so this I consider a “gift” bwahha.

Shenanigans Since Last Time:

I read 16 books this month.  Not bad! Would have been more if my Kindle hadn’t died on me, but alas.

This was a really great batch of books! Like- impressively so, tbh.

Here are some of the loveliest/most entertaining/super helpful/just plain interesting posts I found this month!

Fancy & New Since Last I Saw You!

I love looking at pretty covers! So here are some new ones that I have fallen in love with since our last update!

Pretty covers are pretty.

Things we need to talk about at this juncture:

  • Is it just me or did March go by really fast? Idk but wow it did and also I don’t feel like much happened either? I did get my first COVID vaccine, so that was good! The kids went back to school in person for two days. (They’ll be off now for two weeks, Idk, it’s weird.) And… I really can’t think of anything else, so.
  • The 100 Bookish Games is sadly over. Congrats to Beth and Anne, winners as Team ALIE. Yes, ALIE won, humanity has collapsed I guess. I’m not even that sad about it ?‍♀️?

Have a great April, loves!

  1. I keep thinking we’re still in February, so…yeah. I’m so happy I got to play an eeeeeevil AI who solved the world’s problems by getting ready of its biggest parasite *ahem*. 😉

I am being good right now and not adding to my list all these gorgeous books you got and are eyeing. But I probably will, as soon as you post reviews. Eeeeee!

    • Bwhahah we ARE parasites, aren’t we? ? WOW I am impressed! (Though to be fair, some of the pretty cover ones aren’t even on my own TBR- I just like the look of them hahah) But I will definitely let you know how all the for-review ones are!

  2. So… Lili Wilkinson caught my eye, since I liked her last book for the most part. Any sign Of Life has that amazing cover…

Near the Bone and Where secret Lie I think I want to read? I haven’t seen half of these so thank God for these posts haha. Otherwise I wouldn’t know WHAT was coming.

March flew by. I blame the Bookish Games (why? No idea but I gotta blame SOMETHING).

  3. Hooray for your first COVID vaccination! I get my second dose tomorrow. Such a relief. (Even though it doesn’t change my habits at all. I still stay at home.) Two days at school and then 2 weeks at home? That’s a weird set-up. *scratches head* I got the arc of Fresh, too. It was one of those cases where when I got the approval I was actually a little bummed. LOL Does that ever happen to you? I think I was caught up in nostalgia at the time I requested because I have such fond memories of watching Margo (and Aubrey) on the Tea Time episodes back in the day. But realistically, I’m not a YA reader sooo… *shrugs* And thanks for the shout-out! 🙂

    • Aw YAY for a second dose! I feel like it will be such a huge relief too- hopefully you didn’t have any (or many!) ill effects! And you’re right about the school- but it’s closed again so it doesn’t matter ? And of COURSE Sammy is back in quarantine because that is my life bwahah.

Also YES I feel you, I have had that happen to me many a time! But fingers crossed that you end up liking it even if it isn’t your usual fare! At least the MC is in college, that has to help a bit, I hope!

  4. I am jealous of your no-printed-on-sticker copy of Fire Keeper’s Daughter. lol I keep seeing Year of the Reaper on instagram and I need it based solely on the cover. I’ll look forward to reading your review of that one! I can’t wait to read Dustborn. I have it preordered!

March went by REALLY fast. My husband also got his first covid shot! His next one is in 2 weeks I believe. I’m not quite eligible in my state yet. Soon, though.

    • AW! I am so glad it doesn’t have a sticker OMg! I had no idea that they had stickers, wow this is like a legit collector item now! You MUST read it, it is seriously one of the best books I have ever read- I put it on my “Elite Favorites” shelf with THG and like 2 other books! Dustborn was quite good, I hope you enjoy it!

Aw I hope you are eligible soon! And I hope your husband is doing well- I keep hearing Second Shot Horror Stories™ and I am scared!

  5. Congrats on reading 16 books! Sorry about your Kindle, though. Mine is so old that I get nervous every time I turn it on. One day, it’s just not going to wake up. I’m glad you were able to get your first COVID shot. I get my first on Saturday. Have a great April!

    • Aw thanks! Want to hear the worst part? It wasn’t the Kindle! I sob. I bought a brand new one, and it wouldn;t connect to the damn WiFi either so… it was the router. Of which I then had to buy a new one of. So RUDE, technology. And YAY I am glad that you have gotten your first one too! We’ll be all done by the end of the month, woooo!

  6. Wow! I am impressed your kids went back to school, and YEAH for the vaccine. I want that new Forman book. Can’t wait to hear what you think. I am intrigued by Good Eggs. I loved the books they name drop on that one. RIP Kindle. *moment of silence* I cried when I read that Backman book (I usually cry when I read his books), and I was shocked by how much I liked Hitchcock’s anthology. Hope you enjoyed them too!

    • Ah, but alas, only for 2 days, then BACK to quarantine, schools closed again, blah blah blah. I quit hahha. Omg I sobbed from the minute I started reading it until the minute I finished (luckily it was only like, 20 minutes, BUT STILL). My dad threw it across the room after he read it so I guess my reaction wasn’t *as* bad bwahha. I did enjoy Hitchcock’s as well! People need to stop sleeping on her, she’s awesome!

  7. I’m so curious about Off the Record – hope you love it! That’s great you got your first vaccine. I got my 2nd this past weekend, so I’m pretty excited about that fact. It makes me feel a bit less nervous. LOL March really did go by quick – it’s so strange. I feel like April is going to be fast too, but we’ll see! I’m ready for the warmer days to stick around so I can enjoy more time outside.

    -Lauren

    • I am starting it next actually, so I will let you know when I am done! Aw YAY I am so glad that you are fully vaccinated! I am eager to be also, it just feels like a bit of a weight lifted, even though it won’t change much hah. I agree, I am SO glad the weather is nicer! I also need to remember to email you the giveaway stuff this weekend- putting it in words to make myself accountable ?

  8. March just FLEW by!!! I can’t believe how fast last month ended! Also, you’ve got such pretty books! I can’t wait to see reviews! ALSO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LINKING TO MY BOOKTUBE POST!!!! I got so excited seeing my name there! Haha!!! Have a great April, Shannon!!!

  9. Wow, 16 books is amazing! And that’s great that you got your first COVID vaccine. I got my first one the other day too, so I’m looking forward to being fully vaccinated!
I absolutely adore the cover of Firekeeper’s Daughter! So pretty! And I’m excited for Blood Like Magic coming out. I love Liselle Sambury’s authortube channel, so I’m really interested to read her book!
    Have a great April!

    • Thanks! And aw YAY I am so glad you got yours too! I agree, it will be such a relief to be done with it! And yessss I love Firekeeper’s Daughter, inside AND out! I have enjoyed Liselle from way back in the day so I am THRILLED she is being published! I am excited to read it, I am so happy for her! Hope you are having a great April too!

  10. Oooh, I’m jealous of the ARC of The Soulmate Equation! I would have loved to get that one! I reached out to the publisher a couple books ago for a Christina Lauren book and I got a copy, but guess they didn’t put me on the list for future books. 🙁 Oh well. YOu got so many great books! I also got Fresh, can’t wait to read that. I had to go buy The Firekeeper’s Daughter myself because I keep hearing all the good stuff about it.

  11. I honestly thought your e-ARC section was your beautiful covers section for a moment there! So many beautiful books!

Also, have you read On a Sunbeam? Because I absolutely adore that graphic novel, so it always makes me so happy whenever someone picks it up!
