Waiting on Wednesday: Hold Me Like a Breath by Tiffany Schmidt

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Breaking the Spine, which spotlights upcoming releases that we simply cannot wait for! This week, I chose Hold Me Like a Breath by Tiffany Schmidt

Goodreads | Amazon | TBD

Hardcover, 400 pages

Expected publication: May 19th 2015 by Bloomsbury

From Goodreads:

Penelope Landlow has grown up with the knowledge that almost anything can be bought or sold—including body parts. She’s the daughter of one of the three crime families that control the black market for organ transplants. Penelope’s surrounded by all the suffocating privilege and protection her family can provide, but they can’t protect her from the autoimmune disorder that causes her to bruise so easily. And in her family’s line of work no one can be safe forever. All Penelope has ever wanted is freedom and independence. But when she’s caught in the crossfire as rival families scramble for prominence, she learns that her wishes come with casualties, that betrayal hurts worse than bruises, that love is a risk worth taking . . . and maybe she’s not as fragile as everyone thinks.

Why I’m Waiting: Truly, I am weird about retellings. I don’t know why, because I haven’t read any (that I know of?), so I have no actual reason to be wary. In any case, I’d read this synopsis before I knew it was a retelling and was quite intrigued, and then when I found out, well, why not start here? Apparently, it is “loosely based on The Princess and the Pea”, but honestly, I don’t even know what that is, so why worry about it? Black market organ transplants scare the daylights out of me (because you know, what if you had to?) so I figure this should make for an immensely fascinating book.  And romance, and crime, and… yeah. Sounds good to me! Also, I cannot help but think of this:

Anyway, organs aside.. what are you waiting for this week?
