The 100 Episode 7×03: False Gods

As the last episode took place entirely on SkyringFalse Gods takes us back to Sanctum for the whole shebang. I feel bad saying that this was not my favorite episode but… this was not my favorite episode. There were some great parts, as there always are, but some things that I felt a little bummed by. So, let’s get to it!

Just a reminder, spoilers galore!! Like ALL the spoilers- proceed with caution!

The End of Wonkru

Clarke has lost her mom. Gaia has lost… the Flame, sort of. I feel like this was supposed to be some kind of bonding moment over their respective losses, and while I think that is actually kind of great, I am still a little salty about how much time they’re spending on this out-of-the-blue friendship (dear god above please let it just be friendship). Maybe this was supposed to be a conversation Clarke had with Bellamy (and him losing O) but it was transferred to Gaia in lieu of his absence? Can we pretend that is true? Cool.

They can be pals! But what about Raven, who loved Abby? Murphy, who loved Abby, Jackson who loved Abby? ?‍♀️

Indra breaks up the somber twins by reminding them that Sanctum is on fire- literally and figuratively. So off they go to see who is killing who today! But as it turns out, Raven needs their help more than any of these other fools. She needs some Wonkru welders, and STAT! Only… Wonkru doesn’t feel like welding today? They want Madi to tell them herself, but of course Clarke says no. Look Clarke, maybe for the sake of saving humanity, Madi can just say “hey nerds go weld”, just this once? Gaia thinks the truth is the best plan. Shows how much Gaia knows about anything.

Sweet summer child.

As predicted, Wonkru is so over this. Some dude named Knight decides that since Sheidheda is Sangedakru, he’s cool with him taking over and Wonkru can kindly go fuck itself. They leave, and no one raises their hand to go into Radiationland, so that’s that.

Come on Gaia, Mother always knows best!

Clarke and Gaia wax poetic again at the end of the episode but honestly this is exhausting. Can we please give the time to the relationships (and yes, even friendships) you have been building for the last seven years?

Stop trying to make Claia happen.

Not the End of Sheidheda (or Russell Prime)

Oh good, Jordan is here to mend things. Just kidding, he’s here to royally fuck them up. Look, I too enjoy that Jordan has the social skills of a park bench. It’s charming! But dear god, he’s the son of two superhumans, he can figure it out by now! But he doesn’t, so here we are. He’s overheard two Believers discussing a plot to save Russell, and he jumps right on that train.

Jordan “We’ll Just Ask Nicely” Green, ladies and gentlemen.

So Jordan goes to talk to Russheda again. These two are so dull, I’m sorry but they are. They keep having the same conversation about Russell saving his people, about which “Russell” gives zero fucks because he isn’t Russell. I know Jordan is trying to “be the good guys” but sometimes being the good guy means figuring out when one war criminal has replaced another war criminal.

Hate to admit it, but Slim Sheidy’s got a point.

Anywho, when it’s time for “Russell” to give his big speech to the group, he’s all in agreement. Which maybe Actual Russell would be, but you know Sheidy isn’t, so that’s a good indicator that this plan isn’t going to work. And it doesn’t, surprise surprise. Some redshirt named Tobin shoots Russheda for being a “traitor”, but it’s all a ruse so he barely nicks Russheda. Then the redshirt is killed (happy to give his life to the cause or some such idiocy), and the gang decides they can’t kill Russell without making a martyr of him.

Could have shot him 3 episodes ago and we’d have been done with this, but okay.

Back in Med Bay or whatever it’s called on Sanctum, Jackson angrily fixes up Russheda. In comes the new Girl Who Jordan Green Absolutely Trusts For No Reason™ to tell Russheda that the plan worked like a charm.

Jae the Cookie Man did NOT bake those for your treacherous ass.

“Welcome to the World of Gray”

James is working in some underground power supply center when this adorable gem pops in to greet him. She’s too sweet, I should have known she was dead. Anyway, they go try to fix some junk that Raven needed fixed, only he accidentally melts them both and causes a huge whoopsie to Sanctum that Raven now has to fix.

Dear Pretty Girl, Always avoid Skaikru Redshirts. Love, Shannon

Raven needs someone with Nightblood to head into the radioactive zone, and turns out, her apprentice is now a fake Prime, too! See how things work out?

For Raven, they work out for Raven

So the Fake Primes, Raven, and Farmhousekru meet up at Ryker’s garage to figure out what to do about this collapsing nuclear hazard. Ah, just like old times! Clarke (and Murphy) volunteers Clarke for the task, but Indra points out that she’s too busy trying to make Claia happen with the Russell situation, so it has to be someone else. Enter Emori, with her backup Murphy! Only, they also need some welders. Indra thinks she can get them, and Raven assures them it’ll be fine.

Only one with any sense, she is.

Only whoopsie, Wonkru has disbanded! Idk why Indra couldn’t find a few stragglers to weld shit, but alas. So Raven heads to the EIV prison camp to see who she can convince to die for her help her weld. She finds Hatch, Nikki, and the gang arguing over whether they’re being used by Earthkru (they are).

I should have known that since I love him, nothing good is coming for him.

Hatch grabs a few buddies and off they go! Emori has one minute to fix the Bad Stuff™ before she melts, and then the EIV welders will have to get the pipes fixed before the reactor overheats. I mostly understand the plan. Mostly. Raven tells Murphy that okay, the welders might have a little case of the melting, but they should be fine.

Only, things take a turn. And the radiation levels are much higher than Raven thought they’d be. And these welders aren’t going to make it out alive. Emori and Murphy plead with Raven to tell them, that they have to know what they’re getting into. But she won’t.

She doesn’t trust them to finish the job, and if they can’t bring the levels down, they’ll all die. Emori gets sick, Murphy gets sick, and Raven is seeing that they don’t have much time. So she tells Murphy to bring the welders some supply, and….

Insults and a little melting? Nice friending, Raven.

She locked him out. With the soon-to-be-dead welders, and a shitton of radiation. He feels awful for the welders, it’s clear, and he makes friends with Hatch, who is absolutely finishing this job.

Oh  Raven of little faith.

And right before it’s meltdown for all, they get the job done. Raven is super excited and tells them to get back to the safe zone. Only they can’t. On account of they’re dead.

Raven is upset, understandably. She didn’t mean to get these people killed, obviously, but her actions did kill them, and without their knowledge or consent. And now she has to deal with those ramifications, namely one named Nikki.

This does not bode well.

I won’t lie, I like that Raven had to make the hard choices she’s judged others for in the past. It’s fitting, and I think it will give her a lot more compassion going forward for some of those “no good choices” her friends have had to make. I also think it was fitting that Murphy was the moral one in this situation, it’s a very new and interesting dynamic for their relationship in which Raven is usually Murphy’s moral compass.

Random Thoughts:

  • I am going to miss Hatch. I adored him in this episode! And I liked the way he kind of calmed Nikki down, which I think will be a huge problem going forward. Anyway, he was fun, and I loved his conversion with Murphy. Sir, you will be missed.

    The content we deserve, tbh.
  • Skyring > Sanctum.  Sorry, I don’t make the rules. ?‍♀️
  • I love how they jump right back into clans the minute they don’t like Wonkru. Six years of gladiator battles and cannibalism and they still identify as “Sangedakru” after all. Can’t imagine why.
  • How bad is Nikki going to be going forward? I think Hatch was the only thing keeping her as peaceful as she was. Shit is going to hit the fan with her in a big way.

Episode 7×04: Hesperides

Now this is what I am here for! This looks so good I am not sure I can wait until Wednesday!

  • Clarke finally realizes everyone is missing!  Yay! Yes, your soulmate is out there, no go get him! And leave Gaia behind, how about?
  • Idk what is happening between Hope and Echo but I LIKE IT. It could be a very close sisterly bond. Or, they could be lovers, and frankly I am here for that too.
  • I am so excited to get the band back together! I get why it was done, but these separate planet episodes bum me out. I need my faves together!
  • More tough decisions! I high key wonder if some of them are going to stay behind and NOT go for their friends, and if that will cause a big rift as well.

Love Raven’s new moral dilemma? Want Sheidheda to go back from whence he came? Excited for more Skyring? Let’s chat!

  1. Wasn’t my fave either, as you know, but still there were some good things! Indra continues to impress. I’m gonna kinda miss Hatch? He had possibilities. He and Nikki were badass. Agree about Murphy and raven- while I wasn’t crazy about that whole set up, I DID like that Raven shocked Murphy with her decisions. who saw that coming?? And poor Raven. As if the poor girl doesn’t need MORE heartache.

I do hope Nikki causes all kinds of drama.

    • I agree, Hatch was fabulous! The actor did such a great job with him, like I didn’t think I’d miss him THAT much after 2 measly episodes, but here we are. Nikki is going to be a threat going forward for sure, with no one to keep calm for. I know you weren’t a fan of the Murven stuff but I feel like it will really build her character going forward so I think it’ll be okay. I hope I am right!

And I am fine with Nikki being a badass too. Maybe she can kill Sheidheda and we can be done with his nonsense (though I’ll absolutely cry if we lose JR Bourne as like, a human being!)

Honestly, Indra in this episode is gold. She just continues to be the salty, but wise, voice of experience that gives the kids a chance to think….but is too smart to be smug at them about the fact that she was right and they were wrong. She could’ve abdicated her responsibility to Clark and Madi and even Gaia awhile back, but she continues to show up and throw truthbombs, regardless. Gold star to Indra.

As much as I dislike the Sheida B plot, I like how Russell played Clarke. Dude’s been manipulating his “flock” for generations. Of COURSE he knows hot to leverage social engineering. They really should’ve let him burn in the fire.

And speaking of salty, GDI writers, I was 100% Team Hatch and super excited to see cooler heads prevail and a budding partnership between the Elgius crew and the remaining 100 (and how the power dynamic would shift with broken Wonkru) and then NOPE. Instead, let’s have Raven freak out and make terrible decisions and kill people (AND risk both Emori and Murphy doing it), I am *not* a happy camper. Where is this side of Raven coming from? Maybe the nuclear meltdown just didn’t feel as much of an imminent danger to me to warrant this. Surely, if Raven (or whoever is in charge) had said “Ok, everybody, here’s the risk, but if we don’t try it, EVERYONE DIES” then some folks would’ve volunteered. Hell, they could’ve even offered a reward.
At least we got more Jae the Cookie Man.

I’m curious about the next episode, given its title and the kind of larger-than-life mythology to the episode titles thus far this season. But seriously, who the hell is actually in charge right now?

    • I agree! If I was Indra, I’d be sipping soup by the fire, checking out Simone’s bookshelf, but here she is dealing with this total NONSENSE. I wish she had straight up said “I told you so” to Gaia hah. It’s fine, I was smug on her behalf ?

TOTALLY agree about Russheda, he is able to manipulate them all so EASILY. Like I am almost on his side at this point. Like fine Sheidy, take Sanctum, I am plenty bored of it anyway. They deserve each other!

ME. TOO. I liked that Hatch was like, showing everyone that HEY not all of the EIV folks are “bad”, and they have skills and merit, etc etc. But now ALL bets are off. I guess Raven could have lied and said she told them haha. Now, I did not hate the Raven thing as much as everyone else seems to have- because like, she genuinely thought they would be okay when she first approached them, and it was only AFTER they were already in it that she realized how bad it is- and they would NOT have lived had she pulled them out. So I feel like it wasn’t as bad as it appeared, when you like, break it down? Because on one hand, I see when she is coming from. They were already dead, nothing she can do at that point, and if they didn’t finish everyone would die. BUT I hate that she didn’t give them credit, you know? Hatch was finishing the job regardless, as we saw. He knew he was a goner by the time Murphy got out there. Now, considering Raven knew they might get sick, yeah she probably should have told them that. BUT she thought they’d be like, queasy at most, so i still kind of get it. Idkkk. I think I am in the minority here hahah.

YES Jae the Cookie Man! Honestly Idk who is iin charge. Is it just me or is Clarke REALLY getting on your nerves? I just want her to stop being annoying and start looking for Bellamy. I REALLY hope the next episode picks up. This one just felt very… off.

      • Beth W

I don’t know if she’s so much getting on my nerves as…not feeling like the same Clarke we left in season 6. I’m not connecting to her, so far, at all. :/

      • I wasn’t as appalled by the Raven thing either. I mean, I definitely think she should have just told them once it was already too late, but I get why she was worried they would freak out and not get the job done. And, yeah, I loved Hatch by the end.

Overall, I was missing the Skyrim’s storyline, though – I definitely prefer it.

  3. Not my favorite episode either. I’m more interested in the Anomaly, Hope, and the Disciples than any of the Sanctum factions. There’s quite a few to keep straight and we know almost nothing about them. Not enough to care anyway. I’m not that invested in the Eligius IV prisoners. Had Hatch survived and bonded with Murphy, I might have cared about that friendship. Other than Jae and Blythe Ann, we don’t see any of the non-Believers who aren’t Children of Gabriel. Speaking of Children of Gabriel, they don’t do anything other than yell Death to Primes. Wonkru is done so that’s another 13+ groups. Maybe it’ll all come together down the road but right now, Sanctum is feeling extraneous. I’m loving Indra though as she keeps it real and stays calm as things crumble around her.

I’m thinking/hoping that they’ll focus more on long-standing relationships, specifically Clarke and Raven, once the rescue mission gets underway.

    • YEP I agree. Sanctum is done, we wrapped that up, let;s move on! I also agree that I would have been completely down to be invested in Hatch, and then they went and killed him off! Omg RIGHT!? Poor Lee Majdoub has had ONE line all season and it’s “Death to Primes!” ? (Okay, fine, he was gifted ONE good line- https://i.imgur.com/UdIijsx.gif which I LOVE but that is beside the point!)

YEP Indra is the only one who makes ANY of those scenes watchable. I can watch Memori and Indra and I tune every other person on Sanctum out. I really hope things will pick up between Clarke and Raven, or like anyone who has known each other for more than 5 days and also on Earth! Fingers crossed that tonight’s will be good!
