I stole this from Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction! I was looking for something a little different to do for Christmas, and something fun, and this was the winner! Apparently, according to research done by people who are not me, it was originally created over at A Page of Jenniely as part of Blogmas. She asked us some tough book blogger questions that we need to answer to find out if we’re on the Naughty List or the Nice List this Christmas! I think if you’re naughty, BloggerSanta comes and kicks you out of the community? Idk, I didn’t read the rules.

1. Have you received an ARC and not reviewed it?

Yes. Kind of.

I mean, it’s been a long time since I haven’t reviewed an ARC I requested. There was a time about a year and a half ago that I went a wee bit insane and requested too many eARCs, and I skipped like, two of them. Out of like 30. So yeah. But I also don’t always read unsolicited ARCs because I don’t always care about them, so there’s that.

2. Do you have less than 60% feedback rating on NetGalley?

Hell no. I am awesome

I was actually at 99% for a hot minute, but I now have 6 books that I need to review- but some of them aren’t published til May, so I have loads of time!

3. Have you rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never followed through)?

Yes. Not as often as I’d thought though.

I figured I did this a lot, but apparently I did it mostly in my head and just never said anything on Goodreads? Because I only found three examples.

4. Have you folded down the page of a book?

Ew no, that’s rude!

Like, you can use legitimately any flat thing as a bookmark. A gum wrapper, a scrap of paper, an envelope, an old Blockbuster card. There are simply no excuses for jacking up a book.

5. Have you accidentally spilled something on a book?

Nope!

This is why you should just not eat or drink around books. I limit myself to water, because I am not to be trusted. And nothing grosses me out more than unidentifiable books stains.

6. Did you DNF a book this year?

YES! I think this was a good thing, tbh?

7. Have you bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it?

Nooo. Do people do that?

I mean, has a cover increased the likelihood of me buying a book? Sure. I save the ugly covers for Kindle Daily Deals. But I don’t think I could buy a book solely for the cover, no matter how pretty.

8. Have you read whilst you were meant to be doing something else?

Every single day?

I mean, what even is sleep? Or cleaning, or chores in general? Pshh.

9. Have you skim read a book?

Yeah, every so often when I just cannot.

I try to not do it too much, and I have gotten better (not much, but a little?) at DNFing but… sometimes I do want to know how a book ends without reading extraneous description and such. I don’t even regret or feel bad about it.

10. Will you completely miss your Goodreads goal?

Nope! Again, I am awesome.

11. Have you borrowed a book and not returned it?

Nope. But I don’t often borrow books, so.

I think the library straight up hunts you down when you do that, and I am actually a better source of books than them anyway. What I am saying is, no one has books I want to borrow because I already have them. At least, no one I live in close enough proximity to for it to matter?

12. Have you broken a book buying ban?

Nah, because I do not make them!

Why ban yourself? Moderation, like in other life areas, is key. If I made it taboo, I’d never be able to resist. That said, I have actually been really good about keeping my shit under control so that’s a plus! How, you ask?

13. Have you started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about?

This is actually my entire blogging life summed up in one question.

I have actually had to stop myself from reading too far ahead of my reviews, because things were getting pretty sketchy for awhile. I’d be sitting around asking other people if they knew what the hell the plot even was, because I sure didn’t know. Goodreads is helpful for telling me character names and such. Usually I can remember the genre, but you never know.

14. Have you written in a book you were reading?

No! Once I left a pen mark by accident and it haunted me. So very no.

15. Have you finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads?

I mean, no? I mark it as read, at least!

This is mostly because I would need it to count toward my Goodreads Challenge, not because I am organized, or care or anything. Don’t get too excited.

Naughty or Nice?

I am… NICE! Only 6/15 Naughtys 😀

How about you, friends? Naughty or nice? And I hope you have a lovely Christmas, holiday season, or just random Monday!!

  1. Another awesome NG person! 96%, wow! I am getting my numbers back up, but I keep getting distracted by library books. I am the worst! I don’t skim, like ever, but I DNF all the time.

  2. I’m nice! Mostly because I don’t read ARCs. I am guilty of writing “review to come” on Goodreads and then never reviewing the book. (Because I waited too long to write the review and forgot what the book was about. Oops.)

  3. MY NETGALLEY RATIO IS APPALLING. Well, not appalling but not that great either. XD I don’t write in my books (except my Bible) – I don’t think I could do that (unless I had two copies of the book!).

  4. What a fun survey. I only recently started updating on Goodreads and it’s so satisfying to see everything all tallied up for me. I’ll definitely keep that up in 2018.

  5. We are similarly awesome because I have like 95% on NG, so we’re both kicking butt XD and I also don’t see why DNFing a book is a bad thing! I think I DNFed like three, which is a first for me, but I think it was a good thing too as I would’ve just slogged through them miserably. And I also don’t have book buying bans, I just have good control and am picky about which books I buy, so yay us!

  6. This is a crazy fun tag!! I put it together on my blog too, but I think I (accidentally) skipped answering a couple of the Q’s. Oops!

Anyway, like you I cannot remember spilling anything on a book; I try to use random pieces of paper or bookmarks to mark my place in a book (though I’ll admit I *have* folded a page); who needs book buying bans anyway!! 🙂

Go you for your great NetGalley rating! That’s awesome. 🙂

  7. 96%? Damn. That’s pretty impressive. And I have to admit I do skim read now. I used to not like to do that, but screw it sometimes you just need to blow through something that’s getting ALL bogged down in extraneous details. So yeah. And… I have written in books (I know, I know!). But not ones I really care about. 🙂

By my count *cough* I have 7 naughty’s though, so I’m worse than you!!! But still nice apparently…

  8. Ah hha I love this tag! ? Also GO YOU and your epic Netgalley stats!! Mine is up in the 90s too but all my ARCs left publish like 50 million years later and I feel guilty if I review too early. (Although I’m so frustrated at NG right now with all the good books being “To wish”?!? Why have them up there if you can’t request?! *cries*)

And I’ve bought a book with no intention of reading it.? Usually it’ll be a book I read as an ARC so I wanted to own it (and like I want to reread it?! But who knows when) or I did buy A Darker Shade of Magic in hardcover when I knew I’d listen to the audio instead.? Pls bury me.

But I mean, OF COURSE YOU’RE NICE. Who would suspect otherwise. :’)

  9. Kel

I don’t think I can do this tag…I’m pretty sure I would be on the naughty list, lol! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, Shannon!

  10. Whoo hoo! Let’s hear it for awesome NetGalley percentages! (I’m at 89%.)
Folding pages? Who are the monsters doing that???!!!!
Mystery stains on books… I get queasy just thinking about it.
Question 8 makes me guffaw. Uh, reading when I should be doing other things is my LIFE. LOL
Book buying bans? Those are just for quitters.
#13 – again, this is my life. *sigh*
This was a fun one, Shannon!

  11. 1. Have you received an ARC and not reviewed it?

Yup! I feel a little bad but like, honestly, I have to prioritize sometimes and if it’s my time and effort, I think I should get to make the choice? I don’t see it as the worst thing in the world.

    2. Do you have less than 60% feedback rating on NetGalley?

    no! I am 78%

    3. Have you rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never followed through)?

    NOPE

    4. Have you folded down the page of a book?

YUP. I used to do this all the time and stopped doing it when I finally started using my hoard of bookmarkers.

    5. Have you accidentally spilled something on a book?

Yup. You know all my dirty secrets.

    6. Did you DNF a book this year?

A bunch and I am not ashamed.

    7. Have you bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it?

NEVER. NO. NO NO> I don’t have money, I am not buying a book with no intention of reading it unless it costs $0.

    8. Have you read whilst you were meant to be doing something else?

yesss. I read when I’m supposed to be working on grad school stuff and when i am supposed to be sleeping

    9. Have you skim read a book?

Yeah? but like this is not a common occurrence for me and the one time I skimmed an entire book, I didn’t make it as read on Goodreads. I do skim pages sometimes if I am not in the mood but that’s it.

    10. Will you completely miss your Goodreads goal?

Nope. I set my goal to 1 book.

    11. Have you borrowed a book and not returned it?

Yup. I borrowed a book in 3rd grade and just never gave it back. :’)

    12. Have you broken a book buying ban?

No because I have no money so I cannot break a book buying ban.

    13. Have you started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about?

No, actually! I write reviews in one go!

    14. Have you written in a book you were reading?

yeah? but like for school so I dont think that counts.

    15. Have you finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads?
YUP. A LOT OF THOSE in 2013 when i was reading adult books as a teen and too ashamed of it. I read 400+ books that year and only have 380 of those on goodreads. I’ve forgotten what a bunch were, even.

    9/15. I AM NAUGHTY.

  12. 96%? WOW. It’s something I aim to get in 2018, but again… WOW. I kinda write on my classics books but generally… no. I also skim read a book when I’m just so done with it but I need to see how it ends…
