Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is: Top Ten Books On My Fall TBR List

So. Fun fact: I made a copy of my Spring TBR TTT and then…. well, you know what happened. I changed it to meet my needs, as you do. I just swapped out “spring” with “fall” in the graphic and title.  This is the actual height of laziness. I’m okay with it.

I wasn’t going to do this week’s TTT, honestly. Because well, I don’t generally stick to a TBR, and when I do, it’s only because they’re review books. But then something pretty crazy happened: I read almost all my review books. And the ones that I do have aren’t out until like, March! This leads me to a unique (for me) situation in which I actually get to… choose some of the books I read this season? (Read: Be indecisive and make my friends tell me what to read. This is where you all come in too, because you’ll tell me what to read in the comments, yes? Thanks!)

The Frontlist

The worst part? This doesn’t even include all the crap I pre-ordered. Oops?

The Backlist

(Best to not ask how long I have had these for ?)

At the time of picking these, they’re the ones I want to read most urgently. This could very easily change, oops?

So. I don’t promise to actually read any of these. I am sure I’ll read some of them, because they’re ones I am dying to read. But you never know. How are you at sticking to TBRs if you don’t “have to” read certain books?

  1. Three cheers for ‘Sofi Snow.’ Hope you enjoy that one when you find the time to read it, Shannon! Oh, and I’m SUPER curious about “Invictus” too. Though I’ve never read any of Ryan’s novels (or Marie Lu’s either!), I’m interested.

Love that you swapped out spring for fall. That’s, I suspect, something I could have easily done. 😀

  2. Argh I need to read Caraval and The Loneliest Girl In The Universe! Why does it take so long to get to books?! The troubles of a bookworm… I hope you manage to knock some of these off your TBR! I’m rubbish at TBR lists but hopefully it’ll go better this time. Good luck! 🙂

  3. My TBR is totally random as a mood reader. Like I usually know 2 or 3 books ahead what’s next but that’s it. Your stuff all looks good though. I can vouch for a Closed and Common Orbit because it’s Wayfarers, and even though I liked the first book better a lot of people seem to like the second one better? Six Wakes is good. One of the more entertaining starts to a novel I’ve had recently. It might have a draggy moment or two here and there but it’s pretty good.

Invictus is one I think sounds good, and Forest of a Thousand Lanterns too. I’m reading Warcross now and it’s not wowing me but I have a long ways to go yet…

  4. I’m jealous that you’re so far ahead that you just get to mood read whatever you want!! I have so many backlist books by fave authors that I’d love to be able to read without feeling guilty that I’m not reading review books. I know I’m going to be reading The Knowing this Fall because The Forgetting was SO GOOD!! Also, The Loneliest Girl in the Universe sounds AWESOME!! Hope you get to read some fun stuff 🙂

  5. Great list, Shannon! I’m awful at sticking to TBRs but I do love making lists, so putting together themed seasonal TBRs brings me more joy than it probably should. Well done for getting ahead with your review books! I’m a real mood reader so I have to force my way through review books sometimes, something I’m going to have to do soon because I have a LOT of them to get through…

  6. I have Warcross on my list too. It’s a must read for me, because Marie Lu! I hope to get to The Belles and The Hazel Wood too, and I still need to read The Forgotten (but at least I have it back now, no excuses). I liked The Ruined and Caraval. Hope you get to some of these and love them.

  7. I’m horrible at sticking and committing to set TBR piles. ? I basically break it before I even start. Like I JUST finished Words On Bathroom Walls and decided I’ll read The Shock of the Fall tomorrow because it has the same subject matter…and like it’s been 2hrs and I already am looking at other books….SO I HAVE COMMITMENT ISSUES. *moment of silence for Cait’s pathetic life* ?

And fjakdlsa I kind of want to sneak over to your HOUSE and live in your bookshelves for a while because booooooks. I want to read most of these so so badly!! I mean, it’s a good time to read Nevernight since the sequel just came out. But I’ve heard The Bells and Forest of a Thousand Lanterns are FABULOUS. And Ruined is surprisingly hilarious!? And epic. And I just read Caraval and loved it but most people hated it so.?

    GOOD LUCK!!!

  8. yeah…if it’s not a review book, I can’t promise I’ll actually read it but there ARE some books that I DO hope to finally get to like Winter by Marissa Meyer and They Both Die at the End, etc.

I’m on my last September ARC and then I have a bit for October, but after that, it slows down a TON so that’s nice…hopefully I’ll actually get some personal books read. haha

  9. I’m also not great at sticking to TBRs. I tend to get distracted by new books, and then the old ones sit around for FOREVER. I’m going to try really hard to read my fall TBR books. Some of them have been sitting around since January.

  10. Im like you. Ihave a big front list and backlist. I really enjoyed invictus so I hope you enjoy that one. I’m really excited about alot of these books actually. Awesome picks! There are so many fall releases I am excited about and so many series I want to continue/start!

    Happy Reading!

  11. I fail hard with TBRs. I am too much of a moody reader lol. I see In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters and I absolutely recommend that one. I read it last October and I loved it. Annnnnd since it’s Halloween coming up, it’s the perfect time 😉

  12. I’m usually great at sticking to my monthly tbrs but those seasonal ones, they just kind of fly out of the window haha. I’m very curious about Invictus as well. I recently read Ruined and liked that well enough!

  13. I’m pretty much horrible at sticking to TBRs – I usually have a few set books that I need to read by a certain time, but otherwise I’m more of a mood reader myself. Your options are looking fantastic, though! I’m dying to read The Hazel Wood and Forest of a Thousand Lanterns. I would definitely recommend Nevernight and Caraval from your backlist, also! Nevernight is seriously incredible, and I feel like I can’t recommend it enough to people. I hope you have a great time reading!

  14. Some is better than none. Even one would be good. 🙂 I’m terrible about keeping to my list too. I’m easily distracted. I do want to get to Warcross if possible. Forest of a Thousand Lanterns sounds really good. I’ve got that on on my wish list. Nevernight too, for that matter. I hope you enjoy your reading no matter what you read. Thanks for sharing!

  15. Kel

In a word: horrible. I’m absolutely at sticking to a TBR unless there’s some sort of external deadline (like with review books). Or it’s a later book in a series I’ve been dying to read for a year and it’s worth ignoring homework for a weekend just so I can read it NOW. You should definitely read Invictus (or if you change your mind about it, send it to me so I can re-read it! ^^ (But don’t change your mind. I think/hope you’ll like it!)). I haven’t read The Forgetting, so I know nothing about The Knowing, but Cameron’s usually a solid bet for a good story. I didn’t love Evaporation of Sofi Snow as much as I’d hoped, but most of that was due to personal preference issues. I know a lot of other people have loved it, and the writing itself is pretty good.

Whatever you do/don’t read, I hope you have a good fall!

  16. If I commit, I may read a couple of the book on my TBR, but I don’t like pressuring myself too much so that I don’t end up stressed out instead of enjoying the books! TBRs are hard!
BUT. If I don’t do a list, I find that my mind turns into a mess and I get even more confused. I need to have a guide, but not beat myself if I don’t follow its order exactly. I have a general idea.
But your books for this season sound GREAT, so you’ll end up enjoying literally anything you end up picking up. Invictus, Warcross and The Hazel Wood are eyeing me too from your stack… I need to get to them soon!

I totally loved Nevernight, so I hope you read and like it! Great post!

  17. I was gonna say, isn’t Waking Gods supposed to be in here? But I guess you’re reading it now and it is still technically summer. Though fall is on the 21st? 20th? I don’t even KNOW ANYMORE. This is what happens when you’re out of elementary school.

  18. Ah, The Hazelwood and Blood and Sand! I’m really excited for those 2018 releases, so I hope you enjoy them! I have ARCs of Invictus, The Belles, and Forest of a Thousand Lanterns, and hopefully, I’ll read them sometime soon! XD I’ve had Nevernight and The Diabolic on my TBR FOREVER, but Warcross and Caraval were fantastic!

  19. Uhhh, I am so excited for so many of these! Warcross, The Hazel Wood, The Belles, Invictus, The Loneliest Girl in the Universe… Nevernight started out really slowly, but once I decided to skip the footnotes I got really into it. Happy reading, Shannon! Don’t drown in all the books. 😉

  20. My TBR list is more like a wish list for me 🙂 I also hope to read the Knowing, Invictus and Warcross. I read a Crown of Wishes and it’s SO good 🙂 I hope you get to read all of these and love them.

  21. AHH these all look utterly amazing! I received an e-arc of Invictus and I’m so excited to read as it sounds so good – so I vote for that one! XD I’ve also heard really good things about The Loneliest Girl in the Universe and Ruined so maybe read those next? 🙂
