Oh hi, friend! Today, I am going to do TAGS! Because sometimes I like to trick myself into thinking that they’re somehow easier than “real” blog posts but actually they take me about five times as long. Oops? And you know, feel free to steal any of these your little heart desires! I do love reading about my lovely blogging cohorts!

Greg @ Book Haven tagged me (or maybe nominated me, Idk, I don’t think it matters) for this! There are rules, and as you can see, I don’t really follow them- if you want to know about it, go to Greg’s post. I am also not making up my own questions, because again, no one has time for the rules. Answer Greg’s questions if you are feeling motivated, I’m sure he won’t mind.

1) What is your favorite music?

This is hard. Because my music tastes change frequently. I will say that I am currently obsessed with a ridiculous CD I made myself that features songs that have been on The 100, plus some songs that remind me of The 100 and I want to make edits for. A lot of them are in this post, actually.

2) Do you have a particular book that is a comfort read, or that you go back and re- read regularly?

Yes! The Hunger Games is a series that I try to reread at least once a year! It always makes me feel like I am meeting up with old friends or something. This year is either reread #12 or #13, I must consult Goodreads. I have to admit, I get the number of rereads confused with the number of sets I own. ?

3) Name three of your favorite movies (or 5, or whatever)

This… is oddly easy.  And wholly unsurprising.

4) Is there a particular book you would love to see made into a film?

I actually once made a pretty great list that I don’t think I’d change now, even. I probably could add a few since then, though!

5) Has a book ever inspired you to go to another country or place?

Only all the time! Let me find a few:

In order: Zion National Park,  Japan, Italy (again!), Alaska, ALL of Europe, Mexico, Paris,Aruba (yes, I understood the book, shhh.)

6) Tea or coffee?

Coffee. I have an addiction, okay? I seek out iced coffee everywhere and anywhere. Ask literally anyone who has met me how straight up annoying this is 😉

7) Would you rather have a night out on the town or a night in reading?

Night out! I am an extrovert, which I think is rare in this community, from what I have heard? Anyway, bring on the people and whatever town we’re speaking of!

8) Which fictional character would you like to meet?

Bellamy. Blake. So our romance can start, you know? Clarke who?

9) Hunger games or Divergent?

10) What is one of your favorite books?

I can’t answer The Hunger Games again! So here are the other three books on my “elite favorites” shelf:

11) What is your favorite cuisine?

Another hard one! I like so many, but I think I’m going to say sushi, even though it’s probably tied with Mexican. But it is rare that I can get sushi, so let’s go with it.

I had sushi with Val for my birthday and it was delightful 😀

Thanks to Jess @ Curiouser and Curiouser for tagging me! Australia is on my bucket list, of course, so this one is extra fun! Also, it might say “book tag”, but nowhere does it specify that I must use books. Keep that in mind when I bother you with The 100 answers 😉 (Also, Jess tells you about the origins, I am too lazy.)

Is it cool if I answer Bellamy Blake again? Sure it is, I can do what I want. Also, Peeta Mellark.

I don’t actually think I have many of these? Not one that people unanimously loathe, anyway.

 Enough said.

It’s been a long time since I have had one of these! I think it was Coming Up for Air actually!

Well this is easy because that is all the books, right? Not exactly difficult to find an American author, sorry international friends.

Like as in, I didn’t love it? Or it hurt my feels? If it’s the former, this is the prettiest book I have ever owned (past tense, it is Holly’s now because she can fully appreciate its beauty):
If we’re talking messed up my feels… that could be about 38,394 books.

I have a few, and you need to read them now:
Off you go.

Look, I don’t do a ton of fluffy, but occasionally it makes me smile. Here are a few of my favorite little fluffernutters:
HA just kidding, this is gross.

I just keep on reading, tbh. Probably not the most helpful answer ever, but there you have it. I just hope that someday, the slump will end?

The next tag I wasn’t actually tagged in? But I felt like two tags wasn’t enough, so here, have another! Cait @ Paper Fury said these were fine to steal, so steal I shall! Plus, I feel like I haven’t talked enough about 2017, since it sucks, so here you go. I have read 85 books so far. Here is some junk about them:

(P.S.- I skipped a few. Not sorry.)

1. The Best Book of the Year So Far:

2. The Best Sequel of the Year So Far:

Guys. Sequels have been a hot fucking mess for me so far this year. So I have to work with the few that didn’t suck.

3. A New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To:

Psssh, all of them! Here’s a few to tide you over:

4. Most Anticipated Release for Autumn/Winter:

But… seriously, all of them! I’ll try to narrow it down, just for you.

Look at all the badass women gracing this list!

5. Your Biggest Disappointment of the Year So Far:

Must I just pick one? Can I just say the whole damn year?

These are why we can’t have nice things.

6. Your Biggest Surprise of the Year So Far:

I had low-ish expectations for these, and they made me happy by delivering wins!

7. A Book That Has Made You Cry

Oh, not enough books have made me ugly cry this year, but a few gems did stand out!

8. A Book That Has Made You Happy:

Quite a few left me with a nice smile!

Fluffies that made me not cringe, wooo!

9. The Most Beautiful Book of the Year So Far:

Does this mean physically? Sure it does. I am only doing already released, based on covers alone.

And… that’s it for me! Feel free to answer any of these questions, too! And certainly comment about a couple of them so we can chat! 😀

  1. Woot! Love your answers. I feel like they’ve made some killer music choices on the 100? Long Way To A Small Angry Planet would be fabulous and Royal Bastards too. Love and Gelato made me want to go to Florence posthaste. And love your nightlife answer- I imagine if you got a bunch of introvert book bloggers together – talking books over a few beers, maybe at a con- they could light the place up. 🙂

“Clarke who?’ lol. Oh and best fictional squad ever.

Ooh The Valiant made your best of the year so far. I may have to get it. Two Roads from Here and Warcross *nods* both look awesome. And roar does look amazing. One Dark Throne I had SO much fun with.

I still love that Violent Femmes scene.

    • OH! I just saw this video edit for The 100, and the song they use is perfect (actually, the editing is perfect too, The 100 Writers’ Twitter shared it, so you know it’s quality)- https://youtu.be/TC74ihs9ukk

I would love to see the characters of Long Way To A Small Angry Planet on screen, I imagine it would be very inventive. And true about the introverts- they’d just have to take a nice, long people break afterward to mellow back out again haha . Definitely read The Valiant! Roar was decent, though it took awhile for me to get into. I pre-ordered Warcross too, I have heard so many great things!

And YES- that is one of my favorite scenes EVER on the show. Odd, since it is in Season 3 ?? (But, see why rewatching Season 3 has its perks? 😉 )

  2. YASSS, I love tags! I might steal some of these because like I said, I LOVE TAGS.

I’m still waiting for Scythe to come in from the library – I’m so excited to read it as I’ve heard so many great things about it (mainly from you hahaha) and oh my gosh YES, The Serpent King is also one of my all-time favourite books EVER. I really need to read Goodbye Days but I’m SO SCARED to because I know it’s going to break my heart and I still don’t think I’ve recovered from The Serpent King. XD

I haven’t watched The 100 (I think I’ve seen one episode) but I will get to it one day!

    • YAYY steal away!! 😀 Oh my goodness, I hope Scythe gets to you soon- it is SO good. And Goodbye Days was really good too- just not Serpent King good, but it was a high standard to live up to hahah. It WILL break your heart though! And YESSS watch the thing!

  3. I LOVE SUSHI. They are a gift from heaven (or sea, whatever). A lot of books also inspired me to travel, some authors just did their job too well and give us a serious case of wanderlust!

  4. YES OH MY GOSH LOTS OF TAGS SQUISHED INTO ONE! I read They Both Die At The End and really loved it but sadly, I didn’t cry which left me feeling quite disappointed if I’m being frank with you! Anyways, thanks for this lovely post, I feel like I know you a whole lot better now Shannon!

  5. I LOVED ALL THESE TAGS. YOU ARE THE TAG QUEEEEN. (Although lowkey concerned about cuddling koalas. They have super sharp claws peoples, c’mon. ?) Oh oh and extroverts are actually great because then we introverts can just watch you do all the energy work and socialising and it covers for us being weird hermits. KEEP IT UP, SHANNON, YOU’RE GREAT. Also I had a coffee yesterday and promptly wanted to take a nap. This is disappointing to me. I think coffee and I will never have a beneficial relationship. Iced coffee, however = yum.

Also OMG THEY BOTH DIE AT THE END!! I WANT TO READ IT SO BAD. The title, mostly, is the reason why. Do they both die????? I must read and know.

And yES to Strange the Dreamer. Why must Lazlo Strange be so perfect. ??

    • Thanks!! And I mean, I would cuddle Bellamy Blake even if he DID have claws? So I get it, I think? Maybe? And the coffee made you NAP? DId they do the coffeeing wrong? This saddens me. Though, hot coffee doesn’t give me energy either, so maybe we are just weirdos- but the good kind, obviously.

I really thought They Both Die was SO well done- liked it more than More Happy Than Not even! The writing was really lovely, and the message was too! I hope you love it!

  6. You just reminded me of how many books I need to read this year. There are so many books I haven’t gotten to yet! Also, that marshmallow fluff sandwich looks disgusting. Do people really put that in their mouths?

  7. ALARM ALARM WE HAVE AN EXTROVERT AMONG US. 😀 I think I would choose going out and then coming home and reading to have best of both worlds for that question! I know what you mean about thinking tags are easier and then spending 1736392 hours on them haha! So many books on this list that I want to read. I’m so bad at keeping up with releases, I was all oooh the Upside of Unrequited has is finally out great only to see it’s been released in April. I think I just get confused with all the ARC reviews, because I’ll forever go to order something only to realise it won’t be released until six months later. There are so many promising books on this list that I haven’t read yet! I really liked Coming up for Air. And who would choose Divergent over Hunger Games? Hunger Games is clearly superior, it’s not even a fair question.

    • HA right? I may be excommunicated, tbh 😉 I would tell myself I’d read after I got home, but I’d probably be kind of drunk and forget what I read. Apparently, I had too much fun at my fake party. ?

And seriously, I cannot handle all the books. There are just TOO. MANY. Yep, I said it. Needs to calm down so I can catch up or something.

  8. Kel

I’m beginning to sense a theme here. Wild guess: you kind of like The Hungers Games and The 100? 😉 That Australia Book Tag looks kind of awesome. I might have to try that! Although I’m a little surprised you didn’t have any “Vegemite” reads, though I suppose it’s hard to find a unanimous opinion on any given book. Also, yes to sushi! I don’t splurge for it often, but I love it. 🙂 Great tags, and great answers!

    • ??? Well, you’re not wrong! I mean, it used to be JUST The Hunger Games, but now The 100 has taken over as my #1 obsession, so at least I am spreading my wings (not much, but still haha) YESS steal it for sure! And yeah- that was thing, there is no book that I could think of that EVERYONE hated but I loved? There are plenty with mixed reviews, of course. And same, I want sushi ALL the time but I only splurge like, once a year, max. SAD.

  9. Great book tag! I enjoyed The Hunger Games I might have to reread that series soon. I love that they feel like home with the characters. I am also excited to read Midnight Jewel I am going to try and pick that one up this weekend. I love all the book tags great idea for a post!

    • Aw thanks! I usually re-read THG once a year, in November as some kind of strange homage to the movie releases. I should start a group re-read, we can all play! Midnight Jewel was pretty good- a little repetitive with Glittering Court at times, but Mira is SUCH a good character that it made up for it. Hope you love it!

  10. I feel guilty…I never do my tags!
I won Gauntlet, but I don’t have Arena…so it’s frustrating not being able to read the first book. I’ll either find it or trade the second one since I need Arena to understand the story!

    • I do them SO rarely! But I was tagged in a few so I figured… eh, why not? Ooohhh yeah, you definitely need Arena to read Gauntlet! I think the series was worth it though, and it’s out in paperback so it might not be hard to obtain!

      • I def will either pick up Arena or give away Gauntlet: I’m in the same position with owning The Reluctant Queen but not having The Queen of Blood. ?‍♀️

  11. Maybe three times in my elementary school career my mom surprised me with a marshmallow fluff sandwich in my lunchbox, and it was SO EXCITING. I probably shouldn’t admit this, but I suspect I would still eat one.

I really want to read They Both Die as well. And Strange the Dreamer–I actually rated it a 4, but I think about it all the time, so I feel like I should go back and bump it up to a five. Like, it has stuck with me better than some of the books I’ve rated a 5 this year? Is it cheating to change?

Did you read The 100 as well as watch the show? If so, is it worth picking up?

    • Hahhaha well- I don’t think that the marshmallow is gross, I just HATE the idea of sticky marshmallow and sticky peanut butter teaming up to decimate the roof of my mouth 😉 I don’t think it is cheating to change! I do it from time to time. I rated it 4.5- because it was really good but not *quite* a full 5? Idk, I think I was being extra picky too though hahah.

So yes, I read The 100 books but…. I mean, they’re super easy reads, but they are nothing like the show. A much… lower level of reading than I expected, I guess you could say. The show is so brutal, but the books are much easier. I didn’t hate them, necessarily, but I definitely didn’t love them- and if it hadn’t been The 100, I probably wouldn’t have read them.

  12. Girl, your Gif game is STRONG! Especially love the Minions because #MinionsRule (or whatever the “cool” hashtag is for the dudes).

Excited to see “Love and Gelato” (because *YAY* armchair adventure) and “Royal Bastards” on your list. The former is on my shelf and I’ve meant to read it forever. The latter, being a new release, is one I’ve looked at, and found myself curious over.

“Invictus” is one I don’t know much about, but am nonetheless curious (especially as I haven’t read anything by the author). Oh, and yay for ‘Sofi Snow.’ ENJOY! 🙂

    • Awww thanks!! 😀 I definitely recommend Love & Gelato for a fluffier read, and Royal Bastards for literally ANYTHING. I wanted to add it to my favorites for the year but then I would have had to redo the size of the graphics and I was lazy.

  13. These are fun tags. You’ve read a lot of books that I want to read. It’s good to hear that you enjoyed Midnight Jewel. I have the audiobook and can’t wait to listen to it. That sandwich looks gross lol. But I finally tried a peanut butter and banana sandwich and loved it. We might be surprised that sandwich tastes good lol.

  14. Awesome post! So many great books that have been mentioned, I can’t even begin to reply to this so I’ll just say to all the above: yes. And I have so many of those I also need to read! One thing though: I DNFed Wanderlost. I found the main character extremely annoying and wishy-washy, hating on her sister all the time and like reacting so immaturely and overreacting and whining. Also, it was really slow… and I lost interest. But there are always going to be books that others like that I will not. :S

  15. shooting

I’m so jealous you’ve read They Both Die at the End. I’m dying for that book! Totally read History Is All You Left me though – great great book. Sad, but great. I also loved Goodbye Days, but yeah, that’s an emotional one right there!

Ooh and yes to anything you answered with the book Scythe. Give me the sequel!!

  16. You’re so right, I always see tags as a lot easier than book reviews or discussion posts, but in actuality, they take a ton of time! The Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag sounds so fun. Can’t wait to do it myself! P.S. I LOVE FLUFFERNUTTERS.

  17. It’s All The Tags! Whoo hoo! Loved seeing Emmy & Oliver mentioned as a favorite fluffy read. Man, did I love that one. They were just precious. The Upside of Unrequited… definitely among my yearly favorites. Molly was awesome. I was hoping for so much more from Fireworks but instead… meh. I read need to read more from Kenneally. I’ve only read one and I know I’m missing out.
