I was tagged to do the “I Dare You” book tag by Dina @ Dinosaur! And since I have not much else to share at the moment (I think I am caught up on reviews, and well, fine, I have been busy binge-watching The 100, obviously), this is a perfect time, and this one looks fun! So… let’s do it!

Covers link to Goodreads because I am extra awesome.

1. What book has been on your shelves the longest?

Idk which one I have had the actual longest, but they’ve all been hanging around for a very long time.

2. What is your current read, your last read, and the book you’ll read next?

Currently Reading

Last Book Read

Up Next, Maybe?

3. What book did everyone like, but you hated?

OH! I wrote a whole post about this, so if you want to know lots of these books, you can find them here. But the one that will make you all hate me the most? Le sigh. I am sorry, guys. Please still like me?

::Ducks head from flying tomatoes and such::

4. What book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but you probably won’t?

Because tbh, I didn’t love the first one, okay?

5. Which book are you saving for retirement?

None! I could be dead by then!

6. Last Page: read it first, or wait till the end?

WAIT, what is wrong with this question, who would do that!?

7. Acknowledgment: waste of paper and ink, or interesting aside?

adore them, and I read them always. And I would hope that someone would read mine if I ever wrote a book? So yes, interesting! But even more than that- necessary.

8. Which book character would you switch places with?

Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games or Clarke Griffin from The 100

9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time)?

This was the first Baby-Sitters Club book I read, and really got me into reading- it like, defined my childhood.

10. Name a book that you acquired in an interesting way.

I worked very hard to get this book. Val can vouch for that. So can that guy at the SoHo booth who tried to deny me for three whole days 😉

11. Have you ever given away a book for a special reason to a special person?

Actually YES! I gave this to Holly because she wanted it forever and ever and it was her birthday and I love her ♥

12. Which book has been with you the most places?

I… don’t really bring books with me places? I bring my Kindle, and then like… generally obtain books at the site of my journey?

13. Any “required reading” you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad two years later?

Nah, they all still sucked years later 😉 I did like ONE at the time though, does that count?

14. Used or brand new?

I could pretend to not be snobby and prefer new, shiny books, but why lie? I mean, I will read used books as long as they aren’t like… gross? But yeah, I prefer new. #NotSorry

15. Have you ever read a Dan Brown book?

And I really have no plans to, either.

16. Have you ever seen a movie that you liked more than the book?

This is the only one I can think of really. Maybe Allegiant, but who can tell because it never actually ended?

17. Have you ever read a book that’s made you hungry, cookbooks excluded?

GAH so many amazing Japanese food descriptions!! 😀

18. Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?

Cynthia @ Bingeing on Books! She is my book twinsie! Also, Holly has been really killing it with recommendations lately!

19. Tag (at least 4) friends

Must I? I have so very many friends I would like to tag! But I also don’t want anyone to feel obligated so… if you feel like it, then doooo it, and then let me know and I shall visit it!

So my friends, answer one or two of these for me, pretty please? Especially curious about weird ways you obtained books because… that could be fun 😉

  1. Ooh The Space Between The Stars looks pretty fab. Kinda reminds me of the Becky Chambers books (kinda) with that cover.

I’ve read the first Potter and was like it’s okay, but I’m not super dying to read the next one. Which I shouldn’t say too loudly lest the book community throw garbage at me lol. And the Brown book- I saw ALL good reviews but have no desire? Isn’t it like Mars and mines or something? I dunno but I’m not feeling it. And I love Acknowledgements!!

Love #8! Clarkie!! Part of me would love to be in that gang- as long as they find a way to survive Praimfaya.

  2. Ooh this is an interesting tag! I also can’t get into Red Rising, in fact I DNFed it :/ And I always read the last page first before starting a book xD Question though, why would you want to switch places with Katniss? I mean, you’ll go into Hunger Games twice and having the whole country try to kill you *shudders* Not only Katniss, I don’t want to switch places with anyone from Panem… I also love to read acknowledgement! I love it when I found that authors mentioned other authors or book bloggers. It shows that we are part of the same community <3

  3. CAN I STEAL THIS?!? IT LOOKS SO FUN. And I haven’t even seen this go around yet. *snabbles it since you said we could anyway*

Also I don’t really care about reading Dan Brown either? I saw one of the movies though and was eh about it. It was kind of creepy with burning people and churches and all that. *flees back to childhood cave of crayons and safety* Also 100% NOPE to reading the last page!! My mum does that and I don’t get it!! It ruins everything?! Also Lord of the Rings is the book I’ve taken the most places! I took it to China. And didn’t read it because it was so freaking boring. ???

  4. This looks fun, I’ll have to give it a go! =)

Are you sure you’d swap places with Katniss? 😉 There’s no way I’d survive the Games. It was always The Sleepover Club for me when I was younger, I read so many of those, but considering how many people I’ve seen mention The Baby-Sitters Club it does make me wonder if I missed out on something…

  5. I’ve read Dan Brown #noregrets. Nods. Love Shakespeare in a movie or seeing it on stage, or a retelling but I will not read his plays again. Ever. High school cured me of that. Tragedies every damn year, honestly. And No 12. The Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper from Sydney to Toronto to Amsterdam and back again. Nods. Which is about when I started appreciating the beauty of ebooks. Yeah.

  6. Totally agree with The Maze Runner movie being better than the book. The book made me roll my eyes, but the movie was intense. I think I’ve read all of Dan Brown’s books. My dad likes them and then passes them on to me. The first few were okay, but then they went downhill quickly. One of my college professors used them as examples of how not to write.

I can’t remember any HS required reading I went back to later, but I did like Hamlet and Wuthering Heights even though they were for school. 🙂 And I like new books, but I’m first and foremost a cheapskate, so I routinely buy used books too (especially library copies because the plastic jacket keeps the covers fairly nice). What else? Um, I gave away some ARCs the year I went to BEA, but it wasn’t really a “special” reason; in one case the other person was way more excited for it than I was and in the other, I read it, wasn’t thrilled and didn’t *need* to keep it on my shelf. 🙂

  8. I read the last page of a book first …
    *HIDES*
I know it’s weird, but I got in the habit of doing it when I was younger and now I can’t seem to stop at all haha. Don’t hate me!
But OK, how do you not like HP & The Sorcerer’s Stone!!! That was the cutest little book ever. It kinda went downhill for me after a while, and I’m not as obsessed with it as most readers are, but *GASPS* HATE IT?? JK JK! 😉
A Darkly Beating Heart has food descriptions?? I just read a couple of romance books with chocolatier heroes and oh gosh it was the worst because I kept getting hungry! And Japanese food is yummy, so this book would probably torture the heck out of me.
Anyways, this was totally fun to read! 🙂 Might have to do it myself and gain some haters lol!

  9. Sam

I love reading people’s book tags, but I stink at them. I find them so stressful! I like this one and the TBR tag that is going around. I admire your courage in saying you did not like a Harry Potter book (I have not even read them). Funny you mention The Maze Runner, as I DNFed both the book and the movie. I couldn’t get into it. I actually liked A Separate Peace when I read it (in 1986!). This tag was fun to read. Great job!

  10. Oooo. I think the book I’ve had the longest on my shelves are some of the mid-range books (7th or 8th or 9th) in the Bloody Jack series. Or Gone with the Wind. Still in chapter 32 or something since 2008. lol

  11. Grace Osas @ Somewhat Reserved

I haven’t read a Dan Brown book either!

I hope to find my bookish twinsee one day. They are hard to come across :'(

  12. This is a fun tag. Interesting way I’ve gotten a book? Hmm…maybe from Ebay? I have a book discussion post idea that fits along with this and I really need to work on it! 🙂 I like new books the best too but used is okay as well as long as it’s not falling apart or gross, like you said.

    -Lauren

  13. This is a good tag to keep 🙂 I will make sure I’ll do it one day when I have a little less stuff on my plate.
Books being brought places? Well, I did bring part of my library to Spain when we bough our apartment there a few years ago. Just so that it looks like a real apartment, you know? It had to have books 😀
I actually enjoy quite a bit of the books I read in high school, but I was such a geek I liked them back then, too… And I just got a HUGE box from Bookdepository today, with classics and pulitzer prize winners I’ll use in my teaching in the future 😀 I had read most of them a long, long time ago, but it’s nice to have them on my shelves again.
    Have a wonderful Wednesday 🙂

  14. Dude 😀 (woman!) Why would you trade places with Katniss? 😀 last time I checked, her life sucked majorly and awfully? 😀

Now I’m going to check out why you hated the book about Harry, super curious 😀

  15. *throws tomatoes* JK, I would never waste a tomato, they are delicious 😛

Ooh that Space Between cover is so pretty! And seriously, I don’t understand people who read the last page first?! Pretty sure I have NEVER done that. But I must admit, I don’t often read acknowledgements!

  16. Let’s be honest – every tasty food description in a book makes me hungry!

I actually read the first Dan Brown novel for a weird reason. I took a Uni paper on the Dead Sea Scrolls (for funsies – yea, I’m that girl) when the book came out. The lecturer was so irritated with the book and it’s relationship to another book “Holy grail, Holy blood” that he ranted about the inaccuracies for an entire lecture. I just had to read it after that!

  17. I love this! I’m new to blogging so I maybe I will steal this! I’ve never gotten books for a weird reason, but I have gotten gift cards on teacher appreciation day! (because my parents know I love to read and teach) And the only special person I’ve given a book to is my little sister cause she LOVES Nora Roberts and she wanted an autographed copy! So I got it for her for Christmas! 🙂 I NEVER read the last page first cause WHY??? That would ruin everything!!
