happy-birthday-to-me

So, today is my birthday. I am old. I was old yesterday too, it’s okay.

I wasn’t even sure I was going to do a birthday post, because what can I even say? I am not going to try to come up with thirty-four facts about me. That would be silly, and also, you don’t care. So I thought about it. And I realized what I do have thirty-four of: BOOKS.

I mean, I have more than that. I am not giving you all my books or anything. I am not that nice, frankly. But… I have some books on my shelves that need new homes. Better homes. Some I ended up with duplicates of (fun fact about me: if I trade for a book, or win a book, I will inevitably end up with a duplicate. There is probably some law of nature about it, Idk), some I read and feel like passing on, and some maybe just aren’t for me. Whatever. They can be for you!

So here they are. Also, I am going to link to Goodreads because I am extra nice. download-6

So yeah, I am basically making it mandatory to tell me which books you want- this way, I can just keep picking winners until ALL the books have homes, YAY! So the max one winner can win is 4 books, so I am figuring probably like, 10 winners? The odds are good, is what I am saying. Sorry for US Only, but shipping is a beast and I am poor.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Also, if you WANT facts about me… well, ask any question you want in the comments! That way, I can tell you stuff you actually want to know 😉

P.S.- I am only moderately ashamed that this post is going up with less than two hours left in my actual birthday.

  1. Happy birthday! *Old-people high-five.* I hope your excess books find good homes, and that your birthday celebration is/was/will be perfect. =)

  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU FANTASTIC (seriously old) WONDERFUL BLOGGER BEAN!!! *throws cake and chocolate at you* I think 34 facts would’ve been awesome and I’m kind of sad there are not 34 wonderful facts about you. Sheesh. (Although you are seriously so generous giving away all those books.?)
Anyway I HAVE QUESTIONS: Like who or what introduced you to the Hunger Games and therefore ignited your inner girl on fandom fire? And because I’m like synonymous with cake…what is your favourite cake?

    • Thanks, dear! ALso, YAY QUESTIONS! So. It was this friend of mine from college, who I never even really talk to anymore, sadly. But anyway, we had both been reading some other series, and then she asked if I had read THG. I said no, and told her it sounded stupid (I know, I know!) but she like, made her case, so I bought the first book. And literally 3 chapters in, I two-day shipped the next two books hahahha.

As for cake…. I like unusual cakes. Like, not typical cake. I like cheesecake. I like rum cake (with extra rum bwhahah). I like cake that has nuts in it but NEVER raisins, raisins are RUDE. I also like key lime cake. Or SUPER chocolate cake. But maybe just go ahead and make full blown brownies, you know?

Here are the books I’m interested in: Little Deaths by Emma Flint / We Know It Was You by Maggie Thrash /Take the Fall by Emily Hainsworth / The Darkest Lie by Pintip Dunn / Dead to Me by Mary McCoy & Half Bad by Sally Green

  4. Happy birthday! You are only as old as you feel! That’s what I keep telling myself anyway. But I keep celebrating my 29th birthday hehe. That’s a lot of books! And a good idea. I have too many duplicates! I’ve been cleaning off my shelves so I’m resisting entering. I hope you had a lovely day.

  5. Happy birthday from a fellow old person also turning 34 on my next birthday. Dang though that’s a lot of awesome prize sending, and even US only that’s a lot of shipping!

  6. Hi Shannon! Happy Birthday! I really enjoy your blog. I love the thought behind your giveaway, but I’m not entering because I’ve already read the ones that interest me. Have fun matching readers with the books.

  7. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I’m only two years ahead of you, but I can tell you that 34 ain’t too bad. 😉
Thanks for your generosity (I hope you’re sending the books media mail, but that truly is expensive).

  8. Happy Birthday!! I hope you have a great one!! It’s so generous of you to offer up presents to your readers for your birthday! I hope you get tons of great gifts yourself!

“Little Deaths” by Emma Flint, “The Outliers” by Kimberly McCreight, “Pandemic” by Yvonne Ventresca, “Blythewood” by Carol Goodman, “The Appearance of Annie van Sinderen” by Katherine Howe, “We Know It Was You” by Maggie Thrash, “The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett” by Chelsea Scott, “Iceling” by Sasha Stevenson, “Take the Fall” by Emily Hainsworth, “The Darkest Lie” by Pintip Dunn, and “Triangles” by Kimberly Ann Miller

  9. Jeanna Massman

Happy birthday! I would love Take the Fall, Iceling, The Hundred Lies, Weird Girl and What’s His Name, Anna and the Swallow Man, Bumped and Alert.

    • YAY QUESTIONS AGAIN! (Also, thank you for making me feel young bwhahah even though I just wanted to sleep all day 😉 )

So, this is hard because I swam competitively through high school and college, and I know that SOMETHING swimming related would be my most grueling. I think from a sheer physically taxing perspective, we had to do, in high school, 100×100. So, if you don’t know swimming terms, that is 100 yard (4 laps) 100 times. Now, it isn’t necessarily the yardage that gets you (it’s 10K which IS a lot, but still), but the time intervals. SO anyway, I did them all on 1:20 my junior year, and one of my best friends and I begged our coach to let us do them on 1:15. No one had ever done more than 20 in the like, 30+ years she’d been coaching. I did 77. And was pretty sure I’d drown afterward hahha. And I am STILL bitter than I didn’t finish 😉

      • DAYUM! I swam in high school, but in an extremely non-competitive way (i.e. slowly, and with more of a flail than a kick). But enough that I understand the magnitude of which you speak.

  10. John Smith

Happy Birthday!! If I were to win a book, my first choices would be, in this order: (1) “The Appearance of Annie van Sinderen,” (2) “The Bone Sparrow,” (3) “Iceling,” (4) “Dead To Me,” (5) “Half Bad,” and (6) “Blythewood.”

  11. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHANNON!!!!! *makes 34 cakes for youuu* Okay… Lemme think. If you could be any kitchen utensil, which would you be? If you had to live in any book world which would you choose? Favorite food? Favorite dessert? Music? Secret hidden talents or hobbies? Favorite flower? Happy Birthday again and thank you for the generous giveaway!

    • OOH THESE ARE FUN! Thank youuuu!

Okay so. I would be a wooden spoon, because they are good for ANYTHING. I would live in Panem, which is a weird answer but I stand by it 😉 Favorite food… gah, hard choice between sushi and Mexican. Music… well, I don’t think I can pick just one song! I don’t really have any hidden talents I don’t think, but like I told Wendy above, I used to swim competitively, from when I was 7 straight through college- and I wish someone would let me do it now haha. I don’t have a favorite flower, tbh. I can’t generally even tell them apart ?

  12. Horribly late, but Happy Birthday!!! I hope it was lots of fun! And if it helps you feel any younger, I’ll be 39 next month… *laughs*

    Let’s see, questions…. *ponders*

If you could be best friends with any character from the Lord of the Rings books, who would it be and why? (And if you picked one of the Fellowship, you can pick 2 best friends. *grins*)

What was the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you, that you can now look back and laugh about?

What was the silliest thing one of your pets, or children or both (I’m having a blonde moment and can’t remember if you have any kids/pets at ALL at the moment! Feel free to sub in a friend/relative!), have ever done?

Ever failed at cooking something so bad, no one could figure out how you managed it? (an ex-best friend tried to make jello once, 3 days later it was still completely liquid!)

  13. Amber Bennie
