This Week At Midnight (77)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It gives us a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or got for review each week. I also decided that since I do a weekly recap, it really is just good sense to link up with The Sunday Post, hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewerbecause that is such a fun link up as well!

ck_2nd-place One. It was really fabulous! If Blood and Salt hadn’t been so good, One would have won!

I decided that I am not doing “On the Blog” anymore because you guys are smart and can look at the sidebar.

  1. omg so much discrimination here, Shannon, ALL ABOUT THE AMERICANS. WHAT ABOUT WE INTERNATIONAL DARLINGS? WE NEED YOUR LOVE. (Haha, I’m juuuust teasing you. XDD) *ahem* Yay that you liked One, too!! And I really want to read Blood and Salt and I heard Ash & Bramble was awful, so, agh. Are you reviewing it?! I AM WORRIED NOW. :O
Also Asking For It!! SQUEEE. I NEED THAT BOOK.

    • Sorrrrry! There is one going on now. Blame the publishers, Cait 😉 Also, I did review Ash & Bramble in my last batch of mini-reviews. It ummm wasn’t great. Sorry 🙁

And YES to Asking For It! I may be reading it not next, but after next 😀

  2. I’m going to agree with Cait. What about us poor international darlings? Though I think Cait shouldn’t be complaining as much. She has cake, and lives in an anglophone country. What more could a person want?
Also, I find the Queen of Someday cover amazing. Why does everything royal excite me? Ugh. I need to find a royal husband.

    • Bwhahah valid point about Cait 🙂 And these US giveaways are the publisher’s fault, not mine- I rarely, if ever, do US only giveaways- in fact, there’s an international one on the sidebar —————>

Dude, if you find a royal husband, would you kindly ask if he has a brother? Thanks, I appreciate it. I’ll even take the less successful royal, you know, you get the better one as a finder’s fee 😉 You just simply have a better chance than I do- that’s one thing we Americans DO lack- royalty!

  3. Thank you for mentioning me 😉 I can’t say your other books aren’t interesting but hey, Queen of shadows ! I’m trying to refrain and be reasonable and read the books I own first, but I’m having a hell of a hard time resisting ! Enjoy 😉

    • Aw of course! And I know, Queen of Shadows is like, everyone’s most wanted. But after reading (way too many) reviews, I am scared- people either LOVED it or HATED it. Also, I will probably never read all the books I own, even if I live to be like, 110. 😉

  4. GOODNESS, GIRL!!!! Into the Dim looks so goshdarn amazing. I mean, seriously, that cover?!?! YES YES YES YES. I want to read this book so much. Is this on Netgalley yet?! I want to read it so badly ;___;

    • I am SO excited about Into the Dim!! I don’t think it is on Netgalley yet, but I assume it will be, since that is where the widget came from? (I won’t lie and tell you I wasn’t a teeeeny bit bummed that I didn’t get a physical copy, but hey, what can you do?) I think it is on Edelweiss though?

  5. But looking at the sidebar is so much WORK, Shannon. Why would you make me work???

YASSSS, three books. I am filled with joy. 😀

Brownies are literally the best. In fact, I want some brownies now. Damn it. Also, are you planning on going off to the wilderness? :’D (I’m assuming it’s a HG thing, but I’m finding it funny anyway.)

And please stop suggesting *I*’d go outdoors. Why would I do that? My weekend looks like this: sleep – blog – repeat. Throw in some tv shows and reading, and there you have it – the perfect weekend. Sometimes I let other humans join me, but then I remember why human interaction is so stressful (I kid, of course. Mostly).

    • Bwhahah SORRY. Typing every damn post is so much work, and I was tired. And no, I am planning on going to the wilderness. I have to find Peeta, and I heard he likes to hide there 😉 Yes, it is a THG thing.

No one likes outdoors. No one normal, anyway. I just didn’t want anyone feeling left out, even if they DO happen to be a little nuts 😉

  6. Shannon, how could you do this to me. First you tell me how awesome Blood and Salt is *itchy fingers*, then you show me a trailer, and then you tell me the giveaway is US only. WHYYYYY WOULD YOU DO THAT. I demand cake in recompense, since Vlora’s survey results post denied it to me. Hmph.

PS: Your Secret Sister knows you well, judging by the HG items there — that, or your HG obsession is getting too notorious.

    • CLEARLY, I am evil. It’s okay, there will be an international giveaway in a few days. Damn Vlora, she owes us all cake.

And I feel like it may be a combination of both? Well, and the fact that I basically screamed “I LOVE HUNGER GAMES” at her in my questionnaire.

  7. Not trying to be a smart ass, but how can you be down to 3 if you brought in 14? I’m not known for my mathematical skills, but come on here, Shannon!
That’s a great SS package, I didn’t think of showing mine in my post, I’ll put it in for the end of the month.

  8. Such an amazing haul!! I actually forgot to include Queen of Shadows on my haul post *smacks head* HOW COULD I HAVE FORGOTTEN QoS?! So glad to see you loved Blood and Salt! I’m REALLY excited for it 🙂

  9. DUDE I GOT REJECTED FOR INTO THE DIM WITHIN 5 MINUTES. I am so sad. But does that mean you didn’t like Ash and Bramble? And excited to see your review of Blood and Salt! It looks kind of horror-y, I don’t know why I haven’t really been interested in it. I don’t even remember looking into it. OH WELL.

    • AW MAN. What happened?! Where was this? I am in EW purgatory, but I requested a physical ARC and they sent me a NG widget, which I mean, at least I get to read it. (It’s so pretty though. I want to hold the pretty, is that so wrong?) ANYWAY. Read Blood and Salt. Do you not remember me fangirling about it at BEA? Because I did. A lot. And then I got super excited when Kim remembered who I was from Twitter. My fangirl heart could not be contained.

  10. Oooh! Such a wonderful haul this week Shannon! I just finished reading The Hunt and absolutely adored it, so I hope you feel the same way. 🙂 And the covers and summaries for Reign of Shadows and Into the Dim are absolutely amazing so I’m curious to see what you think of those. xD Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous recap! xx

  11. Thanks for the mention, Shannon! 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed my post – and that we agree that good guys are the best!
The cover of The Great Hunt looks so gorgeous – I love mysterious covers like that. And Queen of Shadows will be my treat to myself as soon as I hand in an article I’m writing. I can’t wait to read it!

  12. What a great gift from your Secret Sister. Brownies are the best! and so many great titles. I have several of these on my TBR, with Reign of Shadows topping my list. I hope you enjoy all these. Happy Reading!

  13. The cover of Asking For It is really interesting! I have picked up a few of the same egalleys over the past weeks myself. Great haul! You can check out my Sunday post in the link below!

  14. Look at you, winning all the amazing books! 😀 *high fives*

Also really excited to read Into the Dim!! It sounds amazing and that cover looks amazing. I am just impatiently waiting for them to get back to me on EW. I’ll probably be 100 by the time that happens.

Your secret sister package looks amazing and I am glad she is spoiling you <3

My typical weekend usually involves me sleeping and not doing much else.. sometimes binge watching buzzfeed vids. 😛 I hope you had an amazing weekend though and hope that your week will be fantastic! 🙂

    • Aw thanks 🙂 Into the Dim DOES sound amazing! They actually haven’t responded to me on EW either! I requested a physical copy and they sent along a NG widget, maybe that is worth a try?

And yes, my secret sister is SO sweet! I still have to write a letter back to her, I keep failing at that. I am jealous of your sleeping and binge watching. SO jealous. Sounds like heaven 😀

  15. Into the Dim is one we have in common but the majority of these books are some I have never heard of before! Queen of Someday does look lovely though, and I know a lot of people have liked that one. And EVERYONE has been dying to read Queen of Shadows! I think that is a sign I should start reading the series at some point xD I hope you love it too!

  16. Cindy

Oh yay! Congrats on Sea of Shadows. Sounds like a good book.
Also, looking forward to your reviews of The Great Hunt and It’s A Wonderful Death! They look great! 🙂
