Where Are They Now? Fiction Edition

TTT

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is: Top Ten Characters You’d Like To Check In With (meaning, the book or series is over and you so just wish you could peek in on the “life” you imagine they are leading years down the line after the story ends).

I assume these contain some kind of spoilers about the books, if for no other reason than you know the characters are alive at the end? I don’t know, just proceed with caution. Or not, it’s entirely your call.

This jazz all links to Goodreads 😀

Sounds like the biggest solution would be sequels. Whose whereabouts are you just dying to know? Do you care where any of these characters are?

    • I think if we give Joy a petition, it could help things along 😉 And a nice letter about how much we adored the first book. First we fangirl, THEN we demand hahah. And YESSS Requiem was so evil. SO EVIL. It is the only time I have ever thrown a book. Thanks 🙂

  1. I def want to check out some from the hunger games but it was Peeta for me. Johanna is a great call though – I hadn’t thought of her. Happy reading x

  2. I love how you set this up 🙂 you’re a genius and i envy you!!!!

I also would love to see how Hazel is doing, i know she is fighting like a champ so she’s still alive and out there being awesome!

Lynn and Lucy’s ending killed me! ugh. why ladies, why?! Just stick together and trek across the world together please 😀 and find some non crazys to fall in love with!!

    Great list!

    My Top Ten 🙂

    • Aw thanks so much!! And that’s the thing with Hazel- you KNOW she is a fighter! And YES- Lynn and Lucy need to be together! (And they totally need some love interests, I agree!)

  3. Great list, Shannon! Glad to see I’m not the only one who wants to know that Johanna’s alright. 🙂 Also yes to Lena – the ending to Requiem was NOT an ending! >_< I still need to read The Host; hopefully I'll finally cross it off my TBR this year.

    • That wasn’t an ending! AT ALL. It was like, the end of a chapter, at best. I just… no. Maybe someday Lauren Oliver will give me some answers 😉 And The Host was actually really good! I had no intention of ever reading it, but then a bunch of people said it was good, so I went for it, and I was so sucked in! It was amazing!

  4. Amazing list Shannon! I love how you’ve set it out. So pretty. I adore Kenji and would definitely want to know how he was getting on. A novella would be great!

    • Aw, yes, exactly! Like when he says “It’s a good life, Hazel Grace” and she looks back and realizes he is right… GAH, okay, tearing up!! And absolutely, I am off to check yours out now 😀

  5. Great choices! I like your idea of adding in a hopeful future for each of your choices, wish I’d thought of that! My list is linked below.

  6. Oh, wow! This is so cool. I love that you included a where you’d like them to be right now with each one. I really wish we could check in with Wanda and Melanie and see what’s happened to them and humanity. Also, I don’t think it’s morbid to want to check in with Hazel Grace. I want to know too.

    • Aw thanks!! And yes- I mean, not just Wanda and Melanie, but like, are there MORE people? What happens!? An uprising!? And we will never, ever know. But we were teased! I *want* to know where Hazel is, but I also don’t know if my heart could take it!

  7. Oh you picked some of my non-couple favorites here! Hazel Grace made my list, of course, because how could she not? But I loved Kenji, Sam and Roar. I’d definitely like to see what they’ve been getting up to!

    My TTT!

    • Aw yay! I agree, so many people that we need updates on. Maybe authors should get together and do one big anthology of “Where Are They Now?”s. I would buy it! For pretty much any price they asked 😉

  8. Roar is number one on my list. I love him and I think he could easily carry his own book or series. Wanda/Melanie are on my list, too. She’s never writing the sequels, though. I’d definitely like to check in with Gale & Johanna. I’m sure Olivia went on to do great things. Great list!

    Michelle @ Michelle’s Minions

    • Oh, he definitely could! I often liked him more than Aria (and definitely at times more than Perry!) Nope, she is not ever writing the sequels. Or probably anything else for that matter. Thanks!!

  9. Oh Gale is a great pick! He just kind of disappears in Mockingjay. Hazel would be great to check in with too, although it would be a very sad check in. And I totally agree, no Host sequels will ever be happening.

    • RIGHT!? And you KNOW he would not have really just vanished. His whole family is in District 12! I hope Hazel’s wouldn’t be as sad as we think. And nope, we’ve seen the last of The Host, I’m afraid 🙁

  10. *signs petition for Kenji novella*

I have seen a million different proposals for post-TFIOS Hazel, and yours is the least painful. THANK YOU SHANNON FOR NOT BREAKING MY HEART.

Oho now I need that sequel to Mockingjay. YES PLEASE.

  11. I wouldn’t mind knowing what happened to Gale, either. He was always my pick in the love triangle…

I’ve seen Hazel on a few lists, which I don’t get. She’d be dead! She was already living on borrowed time, and that drug couldn’t keep working forever.

    • Ohhh I was Peeta from the start. I love him. She isn’t dead! SHE ISN’T DEAD!! Hahha, but no, you never know. Doctors can be wrong. Maybe there was a new drug trial or something! Medical advances, my friend! 🙂

  12. I was wondering who the three members on team Julian were!(I’m team Alex). Delirium made my list this week but with Hana. I love the idea of a novella from Kenji’s POV, I need this in my life! I want Hazel and Isaac to be besties more than I want chocolate(that’s the best metaphor I could come up with)! Your list is just too awesome. =)

  13. Oh my gosh your graphics are perfect!!! Love it.
Johanna – yes, I would love to know what she’s up to! And I can handle her getting with Gale. 🙂
Love the mention of Roar (sobs… I want him to find love, but but but.. 🙁 )
Hazel is a great choice but it would be so hard for me to read!

    • Aw thanks!! And I think Johanna and Gale would be a great pair- AND they would make both lovely AND hardcore babies.

Oh, I know! I was so torn with Roar, because I wanted to say that I want him to find love but… I kind of don’t? Is that bad? Hazel would be really hard to read, but I bet worth it 😉

  14. I’m with you on Rites of Passage, I’m so waiting for the sequel for that book! I really loved reading it 🙂 I didn’t like TFIOS that much, but I want to know what happens next now. Great list overall Shannon<3

  15. I never ended up finishing the Shatter Me trilogy, but Kenji’s one of the only characters I loved from it and would love to know how he is now!

I didn’t love the TFIOS book (the movie was amazing though), but I would just love to know if Hazel’s coping, and if she became a successful writer, like you said.

Oh god, Gale and Johanna? Um, no thanks. xD I love Johanna and Gale, not so much. But I am curious about how they’re doing… INDIVIDUALLY. xD

    • Kenji was amazing. And I enjoyed the rest of the trilogy FAR more than the beginning- where did you stop reading?

Hahahah you do not ship Jale? It is happening. In my mind, anyway. I think they’d be perfect! He’d make her a little softer, and she could boss him around! I love it! 😀

  16. Of course there is a THG book on here hahahah. I forgot about this, but I would also like to check in our them as well. OH HAHAH OH HAZEL. These are some morbid picks now. Just kidding. I haven’t read anything else on the list :PPPPP

    • Obviously, THG makes the list. It makes every list, does it not? You haven’t read any other than those two!? You have a LOT of reading to do, my friend. A lot of these are my favorites. Off you go.

  17. I agree with Requiem. I hated that we never got an ending to that series. Probably why I never recommend it to anyone when they ask me suggestions. Even though Lauren Oliver claimed the series was over, I’ve still hoped she’d write at least one more so I’d feel satisfied with the ending.

    • I know, it makes me so mad. Because up until that (non) ending, it was one of my favorite series of all time, but how can I ever recommend it!? My friends would no longer speak to me 😉 Maybe one day, she’ll have some inspiration and/or throw us a bone! One can only hope!
