Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It gives us a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or got for review each week. I also decided that since I do a weekly recap, it really is just good sense to link up with The Sunday Post, hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer!
The Books:
Yep, I’ve got nothing. This is the first time in FIFTY-SIX WEEKS that I don’t have a single thing to mention. I truly contemplated grabbing some random Kindle freebie because I feel so… empty.
Weekly Shenanigans
I read books! Three books, in fact:
This was a good reading week. Not a bad book in the bunch. How many weeks can you say that? That said… it also wasn’t an amazing week, because while I liked them, some of them lacked the extra “something”. Favorite of the week? ADSOM, of course. Though… I don’t think I feel as strongly as everyone else, which leads me to a discussion for next week 😉
On the Blog:
- I gushed a bit about how important None of the Above by I.W. Gregorio is on Monday.
- Tuesday’s Top Ten was a fun one: Characters You’d Like to Meet Up With
- On Wednesday, I reviewed Hit by Delilah S. Dawson. I was/am confused on my feelings.
- Thursday’s tag was the Burn, Rewrite, Reread tag. I enjoyed.
- And on Friday, I took part in the Becoming Jinn by Lori Goldstein blog tour!
Only FOUR days left to sign up to participate in the April New Release Giveaway Hop!!
Fun in the Blogosphere:
- Vlora @ Reviews and Cake posted a ridiculously fun game for us to play!
- Brittany @ Please Feed the Bookworm asks if controversial topics in historical fiction are okay.
- Cynthia @ Bingeing on Books discusses the dreaded book hangover.
- Holly @ The Fox’s Hideaway has some confessions to make.
- Jon @ Bookish Antics wants to know what is so bad about DNFing a book.
- Cait @ Paper Fury talks about the rampant sexism in fantasy novels.
- Benish @ Feminist Reflections tells us all about why she doesn’t buy many books anymore.
- Shay @ The Story Goes… talks about chapter length preferences.
- Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction guides us through not loving a book you hoped you would.
Up Next:
Reviews (lots of them, actually!), a discussion that I am fond of, the April New Release Giveaway Hop, the 99 Days blog tour…. you know, stuff.
I have had After The End since summer (I think) of last year and still haven’t read it :/ I should though. I’m looking forward to your review of Things We Know By ❤️!!! I know how it feels to not get books :/ sucks, for sure. And..my week was fantstic. I went on two dates with the same guy that I’ve been talking to and he told me he likes me 😀 He’s one of the good guys and the kind that just likes to have deep and meaningful conversations. So yeah, my week was great 😀
Check out my STS
Genesis @ GenGen’s Book Blog
Aww yay! A nice guy sounds soooo good, I am glad that is happening for you 😀
And Things We Know by Heart was super cute! I liked it, even if it didn’t blow me away, still a solid book. Hope you have a great week, and the dates with the good guy continue- I’ll be excited for updates 😉
Nothing! That’s crazy! I don’t think that’s ever happened to me, but I have no willpower. I really need to read A Darker Shade of Magic. Have a great weekend!
Michelle @ Michelle’s Minions
Well, thank goodness the curse has been broken already this week. I was scared! And your hauls usually make up for 3 or 4 people not getting anything, so it all evens out 😉 Your hauls are droolworthy, for real.
OMG NO BOOKS?!! HOW DOES THAT FEEL? DO YOU FEEL OKAY, SHANNON? DO YOU NEED SOME EMOTIONAL SUPPORT HERE WITH YOUR EMPTY SHELF?!! *hyperventilates for you* Ahem. Anyway. Actually I can’t talk because that was me last week. -_- I more than made up for it this week though. hehe. I love books. :’) Anyway. Thanks for linking to my post (afjflaksda) and I really want to read A Darker Shade of Magic but I’m a bit worried about it because the hype is INTENSE.
It was hard, Cait, I am not going to lie. It hurt. I do need support! (It’s okay, a SIGNED copy of ACOTAR came in the mail today, so I WILL make it after all.)
Dude. The hype IS intense. I liked it, I did. But the insane amounts of flailing… I just didn’t reach that level. But it was good, don’t get me wrong! I just feel like maybe I missed something?
No books! Wow. I don’t think I’ve had that for a while. Must feel kinda weird! I’m so pleased you had a good reading week though. I love good reading weeks. I’m really looking forward to reading Things We Know By Heart. 😀
No books = no fun 😉 Things We Know by Heart was good! Cute, but good. I hope you enjoy it!
NO BOOKS. I’m always sad when I don’t get any new books, because it means I can’t participate in STS and also… well, no new books. 😀 I did get a comic this week, so I’m curious to see whether I’m still into that! Thanks for linking to my game post. 🙂
See, I cheated and participated anyway because… I didn’t know what else to do? I felt wrong not to participate! And no problem, your game was much fun 😀
I know exactly what you mean about the lack of books. I haven’t bought any new ones in a while and I also stopped requesting ARCs (for now) so I could read some of the ones I have now. I feel so empty too! I am trying to be good about buying books all the time, but this week I swear I was so close to just buying tons of them anyway.
And thank you so much for the mention!! 🙂
I have been good about buying too, and I seem to be in an ARC lull (I mean, I am requesting but…. crickets 😉 ) and it is HARD, especially when you want to buy some just to have them. That isn’t good!
Not buying books = ACHIEVEMENT. A sad achievement. Not sure if I should be happy about your ADSOM comment though. I have this tinnnny feeling that I won’t love it as much as other people too.
Such a sad achievement! Luckily, I have some pre orders that should start rolling in soon 😉 And I know- I mean, I LIKED ADSOM, I did. Quite a bit! Excited for the next one, and all that. But the OMG BEST BOOK EVER stuff? Not so much. But still, a good book!
I love these weekly wrap ups!! I am very interested to see your discussion on ADSOM. I still haven’t read my copy. I should probs get on that. Anyway HAPPY WEEKEND!!
Thanks!! ADSOM is really good, though I didn’t *quite* get all the gushing. I am interested to hear your thoughts, so go forth and read it 😀
HAHAHAHH THERE IS NOTHING OH MAN HOW DO YOU FEEL SHANNON WOWOWOWOOWOWOWOWOW SO PROUD OF YOU HOW DID YOU EVEN MANAGE THAT???? 56 WEEKS 56 WEEKS.
ADSOM <3 Glad you loved it.
Hahha I feel empty inside, Val. EMPTY.
Awesome stack of books this week. I really am impressed that you read that many books this week. Hope you love all of your books.
Grace @ Books of Love
Thanks 🙂
I’ve had those No New Books Blues before. Very sad. At least you were able to get a lot of reading done! Here’s to a great week of books and reading!
Thanks so much! You are so right, I love that- the “No New Book Blues”! I am using that if (god forbid!) there is a next time 😉
I am so jealous you read Thing’s we know by heart 🙂 It is my most anticipated book of the year I am sp excited to get my hands on it. I would love week of know of books. I have no space left! I just realized I am not following your blog will follow now 🙂
Aww thanks so much! And it was a good book, so I REALLY hope you enjoy it- it’s one of those books that you can’t help but enjoy!!
I only get 1 book too this week, so I sort-of know how you feel!
Anyway, does Things We Know by Heart good? Because it’s one of my most anticipated books in 2015 (that I haven’t bought yet), and I want to know about it! 🙂
Yep, Things We Know by Heart was cute! A little predictable, but still a very good read. Well written, too!
Hey there! I commented on your post about HIT after reading you had reviewed it. So my comment there is longer than this one! Have a great week.
Awww thanks! Hope you have a great week too 🙂
Good job on the no books! I know how you feel though. I worked really hard to have a no book week one time and when it finally happened it just felt so empty! I’ve made up for it since then though! Have a great week!
Thanks! It’s hard though, and it makes me sad. Which leads me to believe that I have an actual book buying problem 😉 Hahah glad you made up for your week of no books! Hope you have a great week too 🙂
Yay, NO BOOKS! Since I’m taking part in the #ShelfLove challenge I don’t find this odd at all. 🙂
I hope you have a good week, Shannon!

Second Run Reviews
Hahha I have never heard “yay” and “no books” in the same sentence before 😉 Thanks, hope you have a great week too!
I didn’t get any books either, but that’s because I pre-ordered a bunch last week. Next week though may not be the same.
Ohh pre orders are fun! I have a few pre orders, but they aren’t until the end of month, and May. LOTS in May. Like, 5, maybe? (That is too many, oops!)
Wow. Your poor bookshelf looks so sad. Maybe that means you’ll get a bunch next week!
Hahha thanks! I mean, luckily, that isn’t MY bookshelf, but I still feel very empty 😉
*applause* That feeling goes away – I promise!
And also: I adored Things We Know by Heart and I am so glad you liked it!!
I’m over it already, as I am up two books on the week 😉 OH- I must message you spoilers, I almost forgot! And I did, it was such a sweet book!
Oh my god, you have an empty shelf. OH MY GOD THE APOCALYPSE IS COMING RUN AWAY EVERYONE.
Now I am excited to read this discussion that was inspired by ADSOM. Even though I’m sad you didn’t fall totally in love with it. Maybe it was the expectations. Anyway, let me know when/if you post a review for it. I WANT TO KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS SINCE YOU OBVI AREN’T GOING TO TELL ME.
That isn’t my shelf, of course I don’t have an empty shelf, silly girl!
Now. I DID really like the book. Quite a bit, especially at the end. But I am just missing something, I think. The discussion shall happen on Thursday, even though all I have is a title, and some notes I scribbled before I fell asleep.
Oh, and I am so not reviewing it. I am going to do a “Books I’m Never Reviewing” post, and include it. It will get a solid 4.5 stars, likely.
I kind of wish I didn’t get any books this week bc my TBR piles hates me.
Happy Reading!
Here’s my Weekly Wrap Up
Michelle @ Book Briefs
Oh, I feel your pain on the TBR hate 😉 Maybe mine will like me again sometime around mid-July?
