Stacking the Shelves and Other Weekly Shenanigans (38)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It gives us a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or got for review each week. I guess after the amazingness of last week, this week was bound to be a bit of a downer, but really I did get some lovely additions, I just had to pay for them all, ha.

Weekly Shenanigans

This was a decent reading week, especially considering I had just finished two books last week. I read 17825130 and 17796116Vivian was a bit of a disappointment. Fine, it was a pretty big disappointment, but I am sad about it and not ready to discuss. I’ll Meet You There was anything but a disappointment, on the other hand. I didn’t really know what to expect going into it, but it was amazing! Definitely one to add to your TBR!

On the Blog:

My Birthday Giveaway is still going on, and ends on December 14th!

Up Next:

Look for some new Snark From the Ark on Sunday! On Tuesday, I will be reviewing and participating in a blog tour for Forbidden by Kimberley Griffiths-Little (spoiler: great book) hosted by I Am a ReaderOther than that… we’ll see what the week brings! And, I do want to revamp my site a bit, so if you see any weird glitchy stuff, well, it’ll pass. Probably.

How was your week? Any exciting new additions? Any great books to recommend? Any awful ones to warn against?

  1. SQUEALING about your comment re: I’ll Meet You There! So excited for that. I’m not sure if I want to read Vivian, but I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on it when you’re reading. AND YES, SHANNON! THE RAVEN BOYS!! I just finished Blue Lily, and I love the series so much. I enjoyed The Raven Boys, but The Dream Thieves made me fall in love with the series. Also interested in seeing what you think of Side Effects May Vary, Me Before You and Maybe Someday. Hope your week is fab, Shannon. 🙂

    • Thanks 🙂 Vivian was kind of a bust, sadly. But I’ll Meet You There certainly made up for it- actually, I read Vivian after I’ll Meet You There, so maybe I had a slight book hangover? I can’t wait to start The Raven Boys! Hope you have a great week too!

  2. Eeeeh nice haul!! I’m going to start I’ll Meet You There soon, so I’m excited and happy that you loved it so much. I recently got Raven Boys, everyone has been saying I MUST read it! Did you like Madman’s Daughter? How was Incarnate? Lovely haul 🙂

    • I haven’t read Madman’s Daughter OR Incarnate yet! I need to, I should, and I am ridiculous for buying sequels when I haven’t read the first book. I hope you enjoy I’ll Meet You There and The Raven Boys too!

    • I have been reading some mixed things about Captive, so I am crossing my fingers that I fall on the side that liked it. Pawn was a pleasant surprise for me, so I am hoping Captive will be too. As for Seeker, I don’t mind a love triangle if it is done well. Hopefully it will be, I can’t deal with a silly love triangle!

  3. I love seeing all these Book Outlet hauls! I almost got Side Effects May Vary, but skipped it in the end. Now I’m tempted to go place another order XD RESIST!!! I also grabbed Seeker from NG – I hope we both enjoy it 🙂

Very proud about The Raven Boys, by the way 😉

  4. As usual Shannon you have A TON OF BOOKS. Wait, have you not read the Raven Boys? WHY NOT? Well now that you have the kindle version you should get on it ASAP. Of course I’m not in the position to say this because I’m still on episode 4 of The 100.

  5. The first thing I thought when I saw your site was “wow, something’s changed”. I first I thought I might have been going crazy as that happens to me sometimes. Anyway, love the new design! It’s so simple and elegant.

Awesome haul, you must read Raven Boys asap! Like, right now, as you’re reading this comment instead you should be reading Raven Boys, okay?

As for Vivian…I started it like two or more weeks ago and haven’t finished it…I don’t really like it so much so far…and now I really want to hear your thoughts on it! =)

    • Aww thanks! I am still working out some kinks, but it is getting there. I don’t know why I decided that I had to update it. I was bored of those other colors, I guess?

Haah I WANT to read Raven Boys now! But alas, I have like, 700 review books since I do not plan well. At all.

And Vivian didn’t go great, honestly. A shame, really, but I am kind of glad that it isn’t just me!

  6. I see changes! Loving the dark blue. 😀 Asunder, the New Soul series has gorgeous covers, but I couldn’t get passed Incarnate, I don’t even know why, it’s just one of those books, and the romance felt a little yuck, but definitely an interesting one (partly in a good way, story wise- for me anyway) AND CAPTIVE. CAPTIVE! LOVED. And of course, THE RAVEN BOYS, yessssss! I was a little confused with it but loooooooooved it anyway, and considering Gansey’s looking for Owain Glyndŵr, and I’m Welsh, I have to. Eek! I’m so looking forward to I’ll Meet You There now! 🙂

    • Thank you! I am still working on it, but it’ll come together some day 😉 I was so sick of the other colors.

I have heard mixed reviews of Incarnate, so I am prepared. But Asunder was less than two dollars, so I had to buy it. I can always give it away if I hate Incarnate, I suppose!

I cannot WAIT to read Captive!!! Like, I want to stop one of my current books just so I can start it. And yes, I LOVED I’ll Meet You There! Definitely one of my favorite 2015 books so far (ha. I have only read like 4. But it was so good!)

  8. I wanted to make a black Friday order so bad, but sadly I behaved myself. I’ve heard good things about Captive and I keep meaning to read the Madman’s Daughter series. I almost requested Seeker, but I didn’t want too many review books hanging there. I bought Raven Boys too!

I finally got Raising Steam by Terry Pratchett! 🙂
