Mina is seventeen. A virgin. And pregnant. Mina is top of her class, girlfriend to the most ambitious guy in school, able to reason and study her way through anything. But when she suddenly finds herself pregnant—despite having never had sex—her orderly world collapses. Almost nobody believes Mina’s claims of virginity. Her father assumes that her boyfriend is responsible; her boyfriend believes she must have cheated on him. As news of Mina’s story spreads, there are those who brand her a liar. There are those who brand her a heretic. And there are those who believe that miracles are possible—and that Mina’s unborn child could be the greatest miracle of all.

Why I’m Waiting: Um, because I need to know how she is pregnant, of course! Plus, I need to read about everyone’s reactions to her pregnancy announcement/swearing she doesn’t know how she became such. It also kind of reminds me of Jane the Virgin, which I adore.

Would you believe Mina? I wouldn’t, I would be the awful friend who tells her she is lying, sad to say. What are you waiting for this week?

  1. I’ve never heard of this one but OMG Shannon I love the cover of the book! But woah, the synopsis O_O It sounds very Biblical. Perhaps an event happened in which she doesn’t remember… this probably isn’t the book for me, tough-issue contemporaries make me so sad! I shall await your opinion 😀 I hope you enjoy the book when you read it!

    Have a fabulous week 🙂

    Check out my WoW post!

  2. “I would be the awful friend who tells her she’s lying”, well at least you’re honest!

Hmm, I don’t know whether I’d believe her…but that makes me even more interested in this book. I’m not sure this is something I’d read, doesn’t sound like something I’d read, but it definitely intrigues me!

    • I agree-I don’t have enough info yet to know if it is super religious, but if it is, then I don’t think it’d be for me either. But the synopsis didn’t really say anything about religion, so I will have to wait until a few reviews come out I suppose!

    • I agree, if I find out it ends up being really religious, I will take a pass too, but when I searched, it was not mentioned as being some kind of Christian book, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it isn’t!

  3. Ha, I would be too, unfortunately, but I mean, come on, who would believe that these days unless you’re really really religious (and even then, it’s a stretch). So yeah, I want to read it just to see how because HOW? Oh my god, I just looked up Jane the Virgin (hadn’t heard of it) and how do you get artificially inseminated? Looks like a fun show, haha.

    • Jane the Virgin is freaking hilarious. She gets inseminated by this doctor (who turns out to be the sister of the bio-father, because the doctor is a recovering alcoholic who just broke up with her live-in girlfriend. The whole thing is a huge telenovela, but it kind of makes fun of itself. It’s great!

  4. I am not so sure about this one. Of course I’d want to know what her pregnancy is all about, but I’m still a bit suspicious about it. I’ll leave it up to you to read it first and let me know how is it.

  5. My sister was just telling me about Jane the Virgin and that I should check it out. I don’t think this book is going to be a comedy though. I also checked, nope no fantasy or scifi aspect so the child isn’t a god or an alien, so I think I’ll pass.

  6. Ooh boy. Definitely adding this little one to my wishlist because of a) the gorgeous cover and b) that OMG I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS synopsis. Thanks for putting this on my radar, Shannon! <3

Personally, I wouldn't believe Mina, either. I would probably one of those people shaking their heads and thinking, "What did this girl get herself into?" on the sidelines…

    Awesome pick!
