Stacking the Shelves and Other Weekly Shenanigans (30)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It gives us a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or got for review each week.

Physical Books

Survival Colony Nine by Joshua Bellin won from author Joshua Bellin via Reading Teen

A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall won from Kim @ KimberlyFaye Reads

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

Birthmarked by Caragh M. O’Brien

Lies by Michael Grant

Breaking Point by Kristen Simmons

This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales

The bottom five books are from my first (of probably way too many) Book Outlet haul. I even already own the ebook of The Winner’s Curse, but I mean… it’s pretty.

Weekly Shenanigans
This week, I read   and they were both so good. I read The Secrets We Keep in two days, which is amazing, considering I had limited time, but I read it fast for two reasons: One being that I could not put it down, and the other that I had to pass it along to the next ARC tour recipient. But yeah, definitely a good reading week!
I had some annoying blog issues that kind of came at a bad time. For awhile, I didn’t know there was a problem, until Val @ The Innocent Smiley very kindly let me know on Twitter (or I might still be clueless!) because I was seeing my site, but no one else was! Then, apparently it ended up getting fixed (Thanks to Ashley/Creative Whim for helping me out even though she was away!) but now I was the  one who couldn’t see it! Now, I know it doesn’t matter that I couldn’t see it, but I also couldn’t reply to comments or anything, and have been playing catch-up since.
Anyway, I celebrated my first blogoversary, my son’s first birthday (with a Candy Land party happening tomorrow!), and basically had several complete mental breakdowns over those things, so it’s kind of a miracle that I got as much done this week as I did!

The giveaways will be going on for a few more weeks, so lots of time to celebrate with me! Also coming next week will be the monthly new release giveaway. And I have a discussion topic in mind, and definitely a few reviews to get done.
How was your week? Any fun stories, great new books discovered, etc.? Hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. I also bought A Little Something Different and The Coldest Girl in Coldtown this week! I’m really excited to get to A Little Something Different, it sounds so cute.
Also, The Winner’s Curse is great, and the cover is so gorgeous!
    Enjoy!

    • I am excited too, I know some people didn’t like the 14 POVs but I am so, so curious! And The Winner’s Curse, well, I have already pre-ordered The Winner’s Crime and I wanted them to match 😉 Plus, for $3.99, how could I turn down so much pretty?

  2. The Winner’s Curse loveeeeeee! I think I have an ARC of The Winner’s Crime waiting for me at home. Sometimes, being at uni sucks! In terms of mail haha. I also have Breaking Point! I love Simmons’ books – I can’t wait to read The Glass Arrow. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

    Have a fabulous week 🙂

    Check out my STS post!

    • Ah, jealous! I want The Winner’s Crime SO badly! It’s just so very pretty. And I can’t wait to read The Glass Arrow either, it sounds really, really good!

  3. If I loved a book I always need the print version too. I haven’t visited book outlet yet, I’ve been behaving myself. (Let’s see how long that lasts) The Coldest Girl looks good. I’m sorry about all of your blogging troubles. I hope it’s all good now. I’m going to my mom’s friend’s cabin for the weekend, which should be fun, but no internet! (I might not make it.) I’m still reading Blood of Olympus, but it’s almost over.

    • The Book Outlet should probably rename itself to Book Crack, because it is. I mean, The Winner’s Curse for $3.99!? What!? Crack, I tell you. (From what I have heard of crack, anyway.)

The blog is finally back up, thank goodness. Basically, the domain switch knocked everything out of whack, and then Ashley had to change the nameservers or somehing, but that took a day to get everything back up. Ugh, technology!

And WHAT!? No internet!? No. I hope they have heat and indoor plumbing at least! Hope you’re enjoying Blood of Olympus, I know people were like, selling their souls for it 😉

    • Right!? I was so good up until now too! But, I also found a 6-pack of Berenstain Bears, which my daughter is obsessed with, so that is how I justified the splurge 😉 Like “well, I was paying shipping anyway…”. Right, keep telling myself that!

  4. YAY FOR WEBSITE TROUBLES. ha just kidding. I hate those. I’m planning to buy a domain name, but I don’t think that’ll cause much trouble for me.

ANYWAYS. I want to read A Little Something Different, AND THE WINNER’S CURSE! I want your physical copy. Also I borrowed Coldest Girl last summer (oh man it’s fall already, blah), and didn’t get to read it sadly 🙁

    • Bwahah. Right? Stupid websites. If you need any help with the domain thing, let me know. I actually found the initial purchase of it to be easy, but this transfer was a HUGE pain. Mainly because the people I was transferring from were of NO help, because they didn’t want me to leave and lose the business. And since Ashley couldn’t see the domain stuff, since she isn’t a customer, she had no clue what issues I was having, and since I know nothing… well you can see how that gets out of hand 😉

Maybe I will throw in a copy of The Winner’s Curse to whoever wins the Blogoversary prize, and hope it’s you 😉 I actually almost ordered two, and now I regret not doing it. Well, it just calls for another Book Outlet order!

  5. Dang it! You mentioned Bookoutlet and then I had to go check it out because I haven’t been on the site in forever and, basically, my wallet does not like you at the moment!
I really really want to read How We Fall and can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it.

I hope you have a less stressful week ahead! =)

    • My wallet doesn’t like me either. Damn Book Outlet! I really liked How We Fall for the most part. It will probably be a 4 star. There was one aspect that bugged me, but others have liked it. But the bulk of the book, especially (and surprisingly!) the romance, I LOVED!

  6. Great haul this week. A lot of pretty books. Book Outlet makes me want to cry, so many amazing books for so cheap but the postage to get them to the UK is over $100! NOT FAIR! Loved The Winner’s Curse and This Song Will Save Your Life, those books are amazing. I hope you enjoy your reads this week 🙂 Here’s my STS.

    • WHOA. $100 shipping kind of negates the deal lol. I hate that postage is so ridiculous. I sent a card to the UK once (like a regular greeting card) and it cost like, $3. Insane!

  7. Discussions! Yay! I love dicussions! I have been like the worst blogger this week. Hehe. I’ve barely replied to comments or visited blogs. BUT TODAY I WILL FIX ALL THAT. *nods* I don’t even have a good excuse. Ohhh, but happy birthday to your son! And I’m glad you got your blog sorted out. Stuff like that’s happened to me…my entire domain went missing once. I ran screaming to my web-designing-bro-in-law and he fixed it. But it absolutely scares me how much I care about my blog when something like that happens and it goes completely missing. >_<

    • Aw thanks! That is what happened- my domain went missing! It was this whole weird thing from the transfer, and name servers, and the internet hating me. The only problem is, I don’t know anyone technical. I am the most technologically savvy person I know, which is BAD. And YES- you get SO upset, like, I feel like this is how most people relate to diamonds or something? But we think of our blogs that way? (It makes sense in my head, I swear!)

  8. This Song Will save your life? YAS. Just YAS. I actually love this one so much. I had a great week. I think I’m having a great start to the school year. I’m starting school in high school! Freshman here so that’s pretty cool.

Please check out my haul (and leave a comment?), here!

  9. Come on, you can’t have too many copies of The Winners Curse. 😉 So glad you loved The Secrets We Keep, can’t wait to get my hands on it, I mean, a twin taking over the other twins identity? Yes please. The prices on the Book Outlet though, I can’t even. WHY CAN’T WE HAVE ONE OVER HERE? 🙁 It’s mean. Happy belated birthday to your son! Hope he’s had fun. 🙂

    • Aw thanks! He did, he had his party today, and discovered cake 😉

You guys NEED a Book Outlet. It just isn’t fair. Things over there are expensive the way it is, they need to cut you some slack!

The Secrets We Keep was *almost* perfect! There was one thing that bugged me, but i cant even say what it is (it’d be a spoiler!) but otherwise, yes, SO good!

  10. you got some really nice books. I’ve read good things about Birthmarked and the Winner’s Curse.. and I’m soo jealous of you getting A Little Something Different. I’ve been meaning to get it~~
I’ve read the Coldest Girl in Coldtown and I enjoyed it although not really something fave-worthy for me…

I hope you’ll enjoy your new books! Happy reading! 🙂
