TBR Tag (A.K.A. “TBR Therapy”)

I have been tagged in “The TBR Tag”! Thanks to Kaitlin @ Reading is My Treasure, Mia @ M&EM Read, and The Story Goes…  (Who goes by “Nobody”. Can I just say I love when Goodreads sends me messages saying: “Nobody likes your status update”? Makes me laugh Every. Single. Time.)

Anyway, this seems like counseling of some sort for my TBR. Like, basically, we’re telling it to get itself together. Books that have been on there for three years or more? Not cool, TBR. Not cool.

This tag was created by Rachel @ A Perfection Called Books and Dana @ Dana Square

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
Er. Um. I don’t? No, that isn’t accurate. I do. But it is all over the place. Sometimes, I will see some amazing-looking book featured on a blog or something, race over to Goodreads to add it, only to realize I added it two years ago. It’s a mess. Or I will add a book on my Amazon wishlist and forget all about it on Goodreads.

But. For the actual books I own, I have a list. Fine, several lists. And they may or may not be color coordinated. I also have two TBR jars. (Obviously, I use neither of them.) Usually, I stare at my bookcase, or scroll through my Kindle for an inordinate amount of time, pick a book, change my mind, then repeat until I settle on one. It is complete nonsense.

Is your TBR mostly print or e-book?
Well, of the books I own and need to read, e-book (more specifically, Kindle books). As for those on my Goodreads TBR? Well, I don’t know, I haven’t bought them yet.

A Book That’s Been On Your TBR List The Longest

These have all been on since I first joined Goodreads, more than two years ago. Angelfall still doesn’t have a release date, let alone a cover.

A Book You Recently Added To Your TBR

 My most recent adds!

A Book In Your TBR Strictly Because of Its Beautiful Cover

I actually want to read Suspicion and These Broken Stars, but I don’t even know what that middle one is. It might even be a sequel. But… SO pretty!

A Book On Your TBR That You Never Plan on Reading

I am over the Caster thing. Over. It. White Space got terrible reviews and is so, so long. With bad reviews, I can’t commit to 600 pages. Sorry, not sorry. And I don’t even know what the third book is. Seriously, where did it come from?

An Unpublished Book on Your TBR That You’re Excited For

This is like Sophie’s Choice! Too hard. I will just refer you here

A Book On Your TBR That Basically Everyone’s Read But You

Haven’t read these? Well, I think we’re the only ones left!

A Book On Your TBR That Everyone Recommends To You

If you haven’t recommended these to me yet… allow me to recommend them to you! Blogger friends think they’re divine.

A Book On Your TBR That You’re Dying To Read

These might have all arrived in the mail on Tuesday, exacerbating my excitement.

How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf?

874

That was fun! I tag… is there anyone left who hasn’t been tagged? If so, consider yourself tagged. (You know, if you want to! But don’t be shy, it’s fun!) Now: Tell me about your TBR! Is it insanely huge? (Confession, I just did a cleanup.)

  1. Haha, we should come up with a code so that when you’re having a bad day I can like your status and make you laugh. =)

So I totally bought and read These Broken Stars because of its cover…that’s how they get you, you know? Reel you in with the pretty covers! I’ve never heard of Pretty Little Mistakes(and apparently neither have you!) but it has an eye catching cover, maybe that’s why it’s on your TBR? =)

And since I’m sure I’ve already bugged you to read all three books you mentioned up there instead I’m going to start bugging you to read Dash & Lily’s Book Of Dares because….yeah, I love that book.

Also, now I see why you think my 283 books is not a lot to have on a TBR! =)

    • Ha! We should! It seriously makes me smile. How was These Broken Stars? I mean, it is so PRETTY. You’re right, they are messing with us! I think I actually OWN Pretty Little Mistakes! How? I have no idea. I have been dragging it around with me for years, never willing to give up on the idea that one day, I just might read it.

I do plan on reading Dash & Lily! Because I own it. Get this- I bought it for TWO dollars! TWO! Brand new. I was giddy with excitement.

Yeah. 283 is.. achievable. And I know absolutely nothing about that 😉

  2. I’ve been tagged but I was at a huge quandary as to if I should do it with my physical books or my virtual TBR. *sigh* Why do I have to make these sorts of decisions??!! I think I’ll go physical and haul books out of my bookshelf and photograph them. That should work. *nods* BUT ANYWAY.

Whyyyy have you not read Cinder?!! I understand The Selection and Ari & Dante and Anna and the French Kiss. No judgement here. BUT CINDER?! SERIOUSLY YOU MUST READ THAT! YOU MUST! WINTER IS COMING! (Gee that has such double meaning in the fandom world.) AND YOU MUST BE ONBOARD HERE! I’m pushy, aren’t I?

    • Oh, these are both, I just had no intentions of hauling books anywhere. Mainly because I finally got them back on the shelves after the last time I hauled them out to photograph them 😉

I need to read Cinder. I know I do. It’s just… I don’t know, I will do it soon! Promise!

  3. Anna and Throne of glass are amazing so I hope you do read them. I have 1434 books on my TBR list on Goodreads and I have no idea how I will read all of them. I am aslo dying to read Falling into playe and Rites of Passage.

    • WOW. I don’t think you will ever read them. I mean, not to sound like a pessimist, but you figure you’ll only add more books, right? I like to do a cleanup every so often. But I never clean up enough!

  4. Haha, don’t feel bad about your Goodreads TBR, I have 1264 books there. It’s crazy! And I removed 200 books a few days ago. Also, you know what’s funny, I DID read Cinder, The Selection and DoS&B, but I never read the second book in the series even though I loved the books! I blame it on my crazy TBR!

    • WHOA! You did a cleanup and were still left with that many?! My goodness! I think my big problem with starting those series is that I know I will want to read the next books immediately, and I don’t have time to binge read them all. I hope at some point I can!

  5. HAHAHAHHA 874 OH MAN! Good luck with all of those!

I also have to read all those books that bloggers recommended to you as well. Throne of Glass (I HAD A DREAM I WAS READING THIS.) and Anna, and wait a second, GO READ ARISTOTLE AND DANTE NOW.

  6. 874? BAHAHAHA, let me introduce you to my overflowing to-read shelf on Goodreads! Dude. We seriously need like a support group for this. BECAUSE THIS IS OUT OF CONTROL. Also. You haven’t read Daughter of Smoke and Bone? OMG DO IT NOW. And I really, really want to read Throne of Glass soon and find out why everyone loves this series so much.

Basically we gotta just keep reading, reading, reading. 🙂 And I really have to do this tag soon!

    • I have to go look at your TBR now! It’s so funny, we all need major help 😉 And I will, I promise! And YES- what is the hype with Throne of Glass?

The problem is.. we have so many books to read, and only a finite number of hours in the day! Damn too-short days 😉

  7. Only Every Yours looks so good! I just discovered that one the other day. I haven’t read The Selection either, but I do have it. I wish I could read it soon, but . . . *stares at TBR pile* There are so many others I need to read!
