Stacking the Shelves and Other Weekly Shenanigans (28)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It gives us a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or got for review each week.

Weekly Shenanigans
This week, I read  . I adored Rites of Passage. So, so much. I don’t even have the words. And I really enjoyed The Book of Ivy too! Can’t wait for the sequel! I am a bit bummed that I only read two books this week, that seems like a really small number.

The current giveaways BOTH end on September 30 at 11:59pm EDT! So make sure you get any last minute entries in!
And, only a week left until my big old FIRST BLOGOVERSARY! I am trying to organize some giveaways, and I want to make it a bit different than the same old thing. Some will be international, some will be U.S. only (sorry, money!) but I want to do something to acknowledge my awesome followers 🙂

I will also be trying to get a few more reviews up, and a discussion post, so stay tuned!

How was your week? Anything exciting happen, any good books read? (Or bad ones, we can talk about bad ones too!) Any special requests or ideas for Blogoversary week?

  1. I can’t believe you’re coming up to your first blogoversary, it seems like you’ve been blogging for longer than that. That’s a compliment by the way- ha in case it comes across for ages! I really want to read Rites of Passage after everyone seems to be loving it! It’s not something that immediately appealed to me. I hope you enjoy your new additions this week.

    • Aw thanks! It’s funny too, because the DAY after I started the blog, my son was born lol. So I took a lot of time off from it too!

Rites of Passage definitely didn’t appeal to me when I first heard of it- I seriously ignored it until I could not NOT read it, because everyone was loving it!

  2. I really really want to read Walled City. I HOPE IT’S GOOD. It’s just that dang delicious cover that I need in my life. Okay…good books? I reread TFIOS which just re-proved itself as a 5-star read for me. x) But it’s also been a depressing week because that book is so. stinking. SAD. And then I went and read This Star Won’t Go Out which HURT MY FEELS. I seriously read too many sad books this week and now I am sad. They were good. Just sad.

    • Aw TFIOS. I love it. I need a physical copy of it, now that you mention it. I am enjoying The Walled City so far, though I am not far into it.

This Star Won’t Go Out? I haven’t read that! And I LOVE feels. Off to Goodreads! (Incidentally, I think I need to make a GR shelf titled “Cait’s Fault”.)

  3. I have been hearing really good things about Rites of Passage. I actually got to meet the author last week. Walled City is going to be good, I hope since it has so much buzz.

    • I loved Rites of Passage SO much. Like, I don’t even have words. It definitely deserves the hype! Jealous that you met the author! 😉

And I agree, Walled City NEEDS to be good, I have been dying to read it for so long, and have heard so much buzz about it!

    • Thanks 🙂 Read Rites of Passage! Go! Now! I guess 2 books isn’t really out of the ordinary, but I feel like I *should* be reading more. Last year I read SO many more books than this year, but I wasn’t blogging and I only had one kid! Big differences, I guess 😉

  4. Great haul. All your gushing is making me want to give Rites of Passage another go. I started it and just couldn’t get into it, I ended up giving up and now I’m really regretting that. I just finished In A Handful of Dust and really enjoyed it, that series was brilliant. I hope you enjoy all of your reads!

    • I really loved it! I wasn’t into the whole military idea, and Sam and I are basically opposites, but I just loved it SO much! I mean, I am sure it won’t be for everyone (no book ever is!) but maybe give it another chance 😉

I am SO glad that you liked In a Handful of Dust! I get so worried with series, because I am extra invested.

  5. I also received The Walled City! I want to read it now 🙂 and even though I own an ARC of Let’s Get Lost I also purchased it on my kindle, thanks for the heads up on that btw. Ugh and I’m so jealous you have In a. Handful of Dust! Cannot wait to read it.

    • You’re welcome 🙂 I am so excited about The Walled City! In fact, as soon as I am done commenting on blogs and such, I am heading over to read it! And I REALLY need In a Handful of Dust! It is sitting here, like “oh hey, you can’t read me yet”. Grr!

  6. This is a great haul! I was going to get The Walled City from Netgalley, but then I decided against it just because. But I hope you like it!! I can’t wait to see what you think of it! Same with Let’s Get Lost, and that Find Me cover looks creepy! Haha

  7. I’m not even going to hide my jealousy on the fact that you got a copy of The Walled City. I requested it but got declined. :'( I hope you enjoy it though! 😀 And I read Find Me a little while back and, to be honest, found it to be a bit meh, but I know a ton of bloggers enjoyed it so I hope you do too! Thanks for sharing and, as always, BRILLIANT haul + happy reading! <3

    • True story, I got lucky 😉 I got one of those “first 500 people to request can read it” emails, and happened to be able to run and click! I would absolutely have been declined otherwise! (My NG ratio is a MESS, because I was “invited” to read books, never even downloaded them, and had NO idea they’d wreak havoc on my stupid feedback ratio.)

I have heard mixed reviews for Find Me too, but I figured for $1.99, why not? (This is why I have literally hundreds of books on my Kindle that are unread. And no money.)

  8. Two books isn’t bad. I only read one book this week. I’m afraid I’m heading towards a slump, all my books are coming out just okay. The walled city looks interesting, I hear it’s more thriller than scifi though. Happy early Blogeversary! 🙂 I can’t wait until next week now. I’m glad you had a good reading week.

  9. I really want to read The Walled City, it sounds interesting and reminds me of The Maze Runner (which I have not read nor watched).

Rites of Passage is one of my most anticipated books I want to read. I’ll have to check out your discussion post. Bookish stereotypes, sounds interesting. 🙂

This week I received the rest of my packages of books that I ordered a couple weeks ago, so I’m happy about that.

Happy early first year anniversary! 🙂 It seems a lot of bloggers are having those lately. As far as reading this week goes, I finished Falling Into Place by Amy Zhang and read We Were Liars by E. Lockhart! They were both pretty good. We Were Liars was amazing.

    • Thank you 🙂 Ohh receiving anticipated books is the BEST! I hope you love them 🙂 And I agree with you- it DOES seem like a busy blogoversary time, I am seeing them everywhere! And definitely read Rites of Passage, I adored it.

Glad you finished some great books this week, what an amazing feeling!

  10. I really liked Let’s Get Lost (was a b it iffy there for the first 50 pages for me but then really got into it) and I just loved the message it sent and how all the stories intertwined with one another. And of course, I freaking adored Rites of Passage, one of the strongest leads in contemporary I’ve read. 😉
    Happy blogoversary for next week!
