From Goodreads:

Fans of John Green and Matthew Quick: Get ready to die laughing. Denton Little’s Deathdate takes place in a world exactly like our own except that everyone knows the day they will die. For 17-year-old Denton Little, that’s tomorrow, the day of his senior prom. Despite his early deathdate, Denton has always wanted to live a normal life, but his final days are filled with dramatic firsts. First hangover. First sex. First love triangle (as the first sex seems to have happened not with his adoring girlfriend, but with his best friend’s hostile sister. Though he’s not totally sure. See: first hangover.) His anxiety builds when he discovers a strange purple rash making its way up his body. Is this what will kill him? And then a strange man shows up at his funeral, claiming to have known Denton’s long-deceased mother, and warning him to beware of suspicious government characters…. Suddenly Denton’s life is filled with mysterious questions and precious little time to find the answers. Debut author Lance Rubin takes us on a fast, furious, and outrageously funny ride through the last hours of a teenager’s life as he searches for love, meaning, answers, and (just maybe) a way to live on.

Why I’m Waiting: I am super picky about contemporary. It has to have that extra something that makes me really, really want to read it. This book does. It sounds funny, poignant, clever, morbid, and yes, a little odd, all at the same time. I really am looking forward to reading it!

And, just when I thought April seemed like too long to wait….. look what I won! HUGE thanks to author Lance Rubin and Novel Thoughts for the ARC! Oh, and it is so not cheating, because I haven’t read it yet.

So, what are you waiting for this week?

  1. I hadn’t heard of this one yet! It definitely sounds like it could be morbidly hilarious! And lol, I’ve definitely used the “waiting on” pretty loosely lately – it’s just great being able to tell people about books you’re excited about, even if you might happen to have an ARC lying around… 😉

  2. I don’t know how this book has escaped my radar till now but thank you for posting! I love dark humor, and books in male POV so I will adding this to my shelf!

  3. Ouchh my neck lol. But the cover looks so cool! Hope the book is good as well. 🙂 I am waiting on The Trial by Fire! It looks amazing and I can’t wait for it to be released. 😀

  4. Oooh, wow! I have to admit, the cover threw me, but I decided to read the blurb anyway. And when I saw that it’s for John Green and Matthew Quick fans, I knew I should probably give it a try! This sounds so interesting.. really curious as to what killed him! Great choice! Adding to my TBR 🙂
