Top Ten Books I Really Want To Read But Don’t Own Yet

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is: Top Ten Books I Really Want To Read But Don’t Own Yet”

Well… this would be like, all the books, right? Or maybe The Broke and the Bookish is inspiring me to make a birthday/Christmas list for you all. So sweet! Anyway, it was hard to narrow it down to just ten books! And I really wanted to add books that aren’t technically published yet, but that seemed way too easy, so I didn’t. Anyway, these are in no particular order:

1. Dangerous Boys by Abigail Haas Um, because I read Dangerous Girls. Enough said.

2. The Three by Sarah Lotz The reviews from this one have been all over the place. People absolutely hate it or love it, but I have been curious about it for some time. But it is expensive. I think maybe because it is not YA? Whatever, it shouldn’t be $13 for an ebook. and $27 for a hardcover. Just sayin’.

3. Uganda Be Kidding Me by Chelsea Handler Ditto Number 2 on the price gouging. I just cannot pay twenty-seven dollars for a book. But I do adore Chelsea Handler. Will someone please mourn with me that tonight is the finale of Chelsea Lately? I know she’s coming to Netflix, but I don’t have Netflix. Sadface.

4. She is Not Invisible by Marcus Sedgwick I have wanted to read this book for awhile now. But then Cait @ Notebook Sisters had to go and post these shenanigans and I don’t just want, I need.

5. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz Everyone else has read this, no? I hadn’t even heard of it until like, maybe a month ago. Where was I hiding exactly? No clue. But now that I know, I am going to be needing it. Please and thank you.

6. Apple and Rain by Sarah Crossen I like feels. A lot. And I think the cover is adorable. Whatever, it sounds good, okay?

7. The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes I am picky about contemporary, but I really, really need to finally read this one. People seem to love it, and Paula Stokes seems so incredibly sweet which just makes me want to read it more.

8. Landline by Rainbow Rowell I feel like Georgie and I are kindred spirits. (Fine, maybe I am just looking for Rainbow Rowell to help me fix my life.) Regardless, I feel like I can relate.

9. Trouble by Non Pratt Let me make one thing clear: I am only buying the UK cover of this. The US cover is just full of blah. I don’t like red covers in general, and I really despise this one. I actually avoided this book based on the cover (I know, I know) until I, you know, read the synopsis. Then I kind of had to have this book! Though the sperm on the cover is a little strange, I can roll with it.

10. Only Ever Yours by Louise O’Neill Another book that I need to read. I mean, Barbie is on the cover. (Plus, read the synopsis, which is definitely more relevant than Barbie.) But alas, is only available overseas, until 2015. But like Vivian Versus the Apocalypse, I will probably cave and order it from the UK. I’ll do a bulk order!

Have you read any of these? Thoughts? Also, let me know: If you could buy any one book today, which would it be?

  1. I want to buy the newest Outlander book… but HELLO $18.99 for an EBOOK! I just sputter and can’t complete sentences when I think about that. Plus I have the previous 7 (!!) in paperback and those will be a while.

  2. Dude!(Sorry for the weird greeting) Aristotle and Dante!!!!! You have to get it and read it!!! I read it at the beginning of the year and it’s still one of my favorite books I’ve read this year!!!! More exclamation points!? Okay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😉

    • I promise, I am going to get it ASAP! (In the comments that got deleted, pretty much everyone said the same thing!) It sounds so good, and the paperback is really cheap! Win/win!

  3. Ugh, I still need to read Dangerous Girls! I also want to read She Is Not Invisible. ALSO THE ART OF LAINEY 😀 Seriously, do you ever hear about a book and you just get super excited? You know nothing about it, and then you see the cover and read the synopsis and you just keep getting more excited? And then it comes, but you don’t have it, yet you still keep it on your wishlist because you’re hopeful you can get it soon? And your excitement never dies down? That’s The Art of Lainey for me. I NEED that book.

  4. Great picks, I have read Aristotle & Dante and Art of Lainey. Hoping to read Dangerous girls soon. I love the look of Apple and Rain – haven’t heard of it before. Happy reading 🙂

  5. I don’t think I’ve ever spent more than $9.99 for an e-book, and I have a hard time even doing that. I’ve been conditioned to see e-books and an inexpensive alternative. That being said, I am actually kind of fascinated by The Three. This is the first time I’m hearing about it, so that you for putting it on my radar. But like…I really, really want to read it. Oh, I suppose I can be patient and wait for the paperback; I’m sure by then the e-book price will drop too.

    • I feel the same way! I seriously cannot pay that much. I don’t care how much I want the book (which is, in this case, a LOT- it was a Waiting on Wednesday for me too!) I just can’t justify it. And I think the paperback will be out sooner than later. Or, we could buy used even! I hope you enjoy it when you can get it!

  6. Only Ever Yours is my number 1 to-read in my Goodreads account! It received rave raviews and flying five stars that I know that I can’t wait one more month to read it.
