Welcome to the December 2016 New Release Giveaway Hop! Which, incidentally, I host now.

I will be giving away any December 2016 new release of your choice, up to $17. The giveaway is international, as long as The Book Depository ships there free of charge (find that out here!) Oh, and if you are a US winner, I will most likely ship from Amazon- because it will be there for you sooner!) If you prefer, I will send a Kindle edition via Amazon gift. (Please note: You may only chose ONE of these options!)

And now, the books!

Bookish month is slowwww. I will even count paperback releases this month, guys. Because the pickings are so slim.

Exist Once More was awesome, and I enjoyed Iceling,  Alterations and The Secret of a Heart Note too!

The only good thing I’d say is that there were some great books this year, like Crooked Kingdom, The Raven King, Walk the Edge, among others.

  2. This is a pretty kickass cover gallery, actually. Exist Once More, Ever the Hunted, Crystal Storm… some good ones. And a lil ole thang called the 100… wonder if that’s any good? lol And Iceling- I just love that whole girl from the Arctic thing. Definitely gonna read that one eventually.

  3. Ann, a.k.a. Lil' Ray of Sunshine!!!! :) :)

To me personally? Um… uhmm… Oh, dear, one moment please– the kettle is whistling! and the telephone is ringing, too! …YES, AT 3:15am!

In truth? On a personal level, this year was unrelentingly awful. (I would assume that all, or nearly all, of us here have remained informed and… Ohhh, dumpster fire.) Muuuuch of that will carry over into the coming year.

…BUT WE HAD BEYONCE!! And dammit, we still do. CHEERS TO ’17! 😀

  4. Hope December treats you well, my dear Shannon. ♥

This year was all kinds of weird and awful, but some good things have definitely happened. Like SHATTERING STIGMAS. And completing my driving lessons (though I still have to get my license). And forever bushing the boundaries of my comfort zone by visiting my grandparents in The Netherlands again and doing other stuff.

Hmm. Something good in 2016. That’s a tough one. How about: we have not yet been killed by the runaway, powerful storms that are going to be unleashed by the further burning of millions or billions of years’ worth of ancient carbon (i.e., concentrated encapsulated energy from the sun) that is being spewed into the atmosphere over the course of mere decades. Those storms, once they eventually get going, are going to scrub the surface of the planet and make humanity and human civilization utterly impossible. But it hasn’t happened yet!

My daughter and SIL took me to Myrtle Beach so I could see my first granddaughter who was 2 see the beach for the first time.

  7. Something good about this year… I discovered Bookstagram! I must have been leaving under a rock for these past few years because all the pretty that is Bookstagram is hard to ignore. People take gorgeous pictures of gorgeous books– this is a thing! I LOVE it. 2016 wasn’t as terrible as imagined since now I have pretty pictures of books to look at. Thank you, Bookstagram!
Thank you so much for the giveaway! Happy reading!

  8. A lot of wonderful things has happened this year, but I suppose the most fabulous was that I’ve grown to love this world of books (in particular, YA) more than ever before. I went to three book signings this year (haven’t done that before) and met three of my favourite authors! I wrote my first novel during NaNoWriMo. My family has been really supportive and I appreciate that so much. I read some really great books this year. I am excited about what’s to come next in 2017!

  9. Happy December! I hope you’re staying warm. I’m not sure if you got hit with the same snowstorm I did.

Well, this certainly has been a dumpster fire of a year, BUT I also fell in love, so I’d say that’s pretty fabulous. 😉

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  10. Ahahaha….yes, 2016 was generally shit. I did just return from an immersive wizarding college LARP, and it was amazing. It actually healed some wounds, as well as being tons of fun.

I started running this year. I went from being able to only walk a 5K at the beginning of the year to running a half marathon in November! I joined a group called the Hogwarts Running Club that not only has several virtual races throughout the year with very cool Harry Potter themed medals, but they have an active social media presence that has allowed me to meet so many awesome people online and in real like that inspired me to push myself.

  12. techeditor

Some of my favorite authors (Tana French, Ian McEwan, Chris Bohjalian, Stephen King, Karin Slaughter, Joseph Kanon, and John Hart) published books this year.

I’m going to think that you used the same template from November without changing the dates lol, given that this post says” November release your heart desires! Please be sure to check the terms and conditions 🙂

Ends November 30, 2016 at 11:59pm EST” I’m hard pressed to find a positive right now. Maybe one thing was that my weight dropped more than I thought in the last six months.

While this has probably been one of the worst years in the two decades that I have called my life. There were some good things that happened. I think for me was that I am now a student TA for one of my favorite college professors.

Things were good this year compared to the previous years, everyone in my family is doing well, but yeah towards the end things are getting a bit crazy.

  16. Despite the misfortunes that happened to me this 2016, I managed to pass the licensure examination for teachers so 2016 isn’t as depressing because of that.

A really positive thing I have seen is how progressive folks have come together in the aftermath of the dumpster fire. A force of good ready to fight Voldemort and the Death Eaters.

Besides reading a ton of great books? My uncle who lives overseas & isn’t able to visit very often was able to make the trip home.

  19. Ada

This year, I had the opportunity of the lifetime associated with my job. It led to very positive feedback and I can only hope more choices for my future!

  20. Vanessa Vazquez

We adopted a sweet dog named Alexis. She was overlooked in the shelter for a year so we are happy to have her!

This year hasn’t been a bad year for us, several good things have happened in my family. Our youngest daughter got her driver’s license(finally!) & bought some calves to raise, our oldest daughter got married in May and got an apartment 10 minutes away, the youngest went to Alaska in July with my IL’s, my husband had a successful hunt in Colorado, our youngest & I went to Washington DC in September and had a wonderful time(lucky girl went on two vacations this year!), we’ve had two new babies born into our families and another on the way. It hasn’t been the best year financially for us and I hope that changes in the coming year(s) but I want to look at the positive. We are together and we are happy, that’s what matters. Happy New Year!

  22. My awesome, amazing, wonderful mother-in-law is kicking cancers ass this year, and next year, we are praying and believing that she is going to beat it! 2016 might have been a bad year in some ways, but it will never be a terrible year because of an amazing woman who has taught her family how to fight, and win!

  23. Agustina Z

I made a lot of fan arts because I read a lot of amazing books this year. Each drawing was a lot of fun. Plus I passed all my college exams so yay!
