Welcome to Midnight Digest 3!! Which, let’s be real, has turned into a monthly recap. And could be renamed accordingly at any time.

I’ll share the books I’ve obtained, posts of interest from others, giveaways I have happening, and just general random shenanigans. You know I love a shenanigan.

Shenanigans Since Last Time:

What have I read? Lots, since it’s been a whole month!

Also not linking, because time.

ARC April is officially over, and here’s what went down:

ARCApril

So since the only books I read in April were books for ARC April… here we go! (P.S.- while I am technically not finished with Alice and the Fly, I will be by the time you read this.) I didn’t quite meet my goal, but 14 isn’t bad, right?

1st-placeThe Hunt and The Rose and the Dagger

Random Musings:

So I thought March had gone by quickly, but it was no match for April! Between panicking about Bookish Games (which like, shouldn’t I be dead by now?), still trying to get my shit together for BEA, trying to read a lot in April for ARC April…. I am just overwhelmed in general I think! I had a lot of posts that were scheduled for April, a lot of review books, etc. And now I am just like, tired.

Shiny & New Since Last I Saw You!

I love looking at pretty covers! So here are some new ones that I have fallen in love with since our last update!

md33

Things we need to talk about at this juncture:

        • I miss you guys! Tell me what’s new!
        • Have you heard any bookish news? I need something new and fun!
        • BEA! It is happening. Too soon for my liking because I am not ready at all. Packing has not happened. And I am scared to leave my small humans, I miss them.
        • What do you think of these covers?!
        • I mentioned in my BEA tips post that one should take a hiatus instead of driving oneself crazy. So I am going to follow my own advice for a change. It won’t be a full blown hiatus or anything, but things will be quieter than usual. This likely includes after BEA as well, since I am elderly and the elderly need to recuperate from such shenanigans.

Have a lovely May, my dears!!

  1. I’m really excited to read Phantom Limbs. I have hopes it will be the kind of emotional book I’ll Meet You There was. Super jealous of Outrun the Moon as well! I adored the author’s debut novel and can’t wait for this one.
Also, how do you win all these books every month??????? Give me some of your luck, will you! 😀
Ahhhh look at those beautiful covers! Starfall and Caraval are my personal favorites.

    • Hahahah I go through winning spurts! Or in this case, I won some and they were sent really quickly, and some took a bit longer so it LOOKS like I won a lot at once 😉 Outrun the Moon was really good! And I am SOOOOO excited for Phantom Limbs!

  2. Oh my god I have not seen that cover for The Graces and I am in awe with its beauty *stares forever* I am also hugely excited for Caraval, definitely distinct Night Circus type feel and even though I wasn’t blown away by that particular book, circus is always a good thing?
Damn girl, you absolutely KILLED ARC April, I am so super proud of you. Also, please share your secrets to winning so many books because my horrible luck needs the guidance.
Thanks so much for linking to my post <3

    • RIGHT?! I neeeeed The Graces in my life. At first it was just for the cover, but the synopsis sounds great too, yay! And Caraval! It looks amazing! AMAZING. Also in both physical appearance and content 😉 And THANK YOU! I am mad that I wasn’t able to do all 16, but it is still good! As for the winning… enter all the things, so that you can win a few 😉 I don’t usually have great luck either, so it is always exciting to win!!

  3. I haven’t heard about Phantom Limbs before; I’ve read the blurb, and it sounds interesting. Looking forward to your thoughts about this book, hopefully it’s good. As for the covers I love the one for Laini Taylor’s book. Have a good time at BEA!

  4. I love these wrap-up posts! They are just too fun to read. 14 books in April is great!!! Good job. I am hoping to read The Darkest Corners soon. I hope it’s good. 🙂

Sorry you have to leave the little ones for Chicago, but you’ll have such a blast! Did I tell you I’m going to BEA now?? I know I was bemoaning the fact that it didn’t look like I could go, but my sister is able to come so yay!!!!

    -Lauren

    • AWW thank yoU!! And NO I didn’t know if you had decided yet, YAYYYY! This is exciting, we definitely must meet up!! I am glad that your sister is going, that sounds like FUN!

And I liked The Darkest Corners! Mystery/thriller types are hit or miss for me, but I really liked this one! Hope you do too!

  5. Oh gosh I failed so hard for ARCApril! I only finished one book LOL

Also, pretty new books! I must check some of them out, for sure 🙂

  6. what great wins you have here!! I so need to pick up Richelle Mead and soon!! I wasn’t so good about reading ARC’s in april. I have been making an effort to read more books I own and library books. Although this month I have quite a few to read 🙂 So hopefully I will get to them all. Looks like a great reading month though for April!!

  7. Awesome stack to review Shannon! I have The Glittering Court to read as well! Woah, you have read 14 books – that’s incredible! I’m glad you enjoyed The Rose and the Dagger, I’m looking forward to receiving my copy. Thank you so much for sharing our posts in your recap lovely! You’ve done so well to survive The Bookish Games Shannon, especially for your first time!

    • Aw thanks!! And of course, I love your posts 😀 I hope you enjoy The Glittering Court- I know people have had different reactions (love it or hate it, it seems) and I also hope you love The Rose and the Dagger, but it seems that most people have, so fingers crossed!

And thank you- though I really think I only survived because I was such a mess? Which you can openly tell me now ?

  8. Look at all your books read! I need that kind of time. I need more time than just coming home, taking Baby out, turning on Netflix and falling into bed. Gah. Have fun at BEA – AND PACK THAT BAG, LADY! haha I love all your new shinies. I got one from a friend recently, and I won something today, so YAY!

  9. So many good covers- I love that cover of Starfall (adds to TBR). I was thinking of reading the first one anyway but now I’m even more interested. All it takes is a cover lol. Anyway nice recap and hope BEA is awesome. 🙂

  10. I feel like it should be called Gary the Brain Cell, since it’s not Gary’s brain cell, but Inge and Aly’s combined one. Either way, I support your idea. I hope you have fun at BEA, even with your elderly woes. 😀

  11. I feel so unaccomplished next to you nailing ARC April. Have I mentioned how jealous I am of everyone going to BEA??? Take lots of pictures for me, please???

I feel like I haven’t talked to you or stalked you (your blog that is not actually stalking…) in FOREVER! Still, I feel like I can never come up with anything to say when someone tells you on the bottom of a post to tell them how you’ve been or what’s new. Like am I the only one that like always feels this is a trick question even though I know every time I say it on a post I mean it? Am I over thinking this? Well. I thought of something to talk about at least…

I hope you have a great time a BEA and a great month, Shannon!

    • Awww I will, I promise! And I know hahah I can’t either, BUT I left you many topics! 😉 For me, when i ask though, I really DO want to know, even if it seems like it’s just a “thing people say”. For future reference hahahha.

  12. Cheers my fellow elderly blogger!
I hate the idea of being on hiatus for BEA. I seriously hear what you are saying about not driving myself crazy, but I imagine I will invent hours in my day and blog ahead here real quick, or maybe while I am there. lmao!
You won so many books this past month. I think I gave that many away with giveaways on my site. No rest this month either since it is my blogoversary really soon. (i haven;t mentioned it anywhere on my site, it will just be a surprise for all my lovely readers).
Congrats on getting so much read in April. Good job you!

    • Karen, that was literally me last year! I couldn’t *not* post! So I did. So if you do, you will have to let me know if it works for you or not!

I gave away a TON of books too- which reminds me that a bunch of Rafflecopters ended yesterday and I have to email winners before I leave, so thanks for that! And YAY for blogoversaries! I can’t wait for yours, congrats 😀

  13. Wow, you’ve read so much in April. I hope you’ll have fun at BEA!!! Why are all cool bookish events over in the states I ask you? WHY??? I should think of organizing something cool myself. Thanks for linking up to so many great blog posts. As for what is new, I finally moved to self-hosted WP and I’m having so much fun working on my site. Though also frustrated when something doesnt work right. Happy reading!

  14. A lot of fun info here, I love all the new covers you share because I am always so out of it when it comes to books now. Starfall has such an amazing cover!

  15. (Thanks for linking my post! You’re a peach. 😉 )

OUTRUN THE MOON & A TYRANNY OF PETTICOATS AHHHHHH

I’m such a cover person. Omg. I’m nearly screaming for Starfall, and even though I’d die for The Graces as well, I’m a little meh about the cover. I think the UK-edition is nice. It’s a The Anatomical Shape of A Heart/Night Owls sort of a thing tbh. I think I’m the only one not salivating over Caraval currently, but very, very nice cover. *nods*

  16. Ooh, lots of shiny new books! I definitely approve of this haul. Especially as one of them is Outrun the Moon by Stacey Lee which I shall be diving into today. I hope it will be a good read 🙂

  17. Are you going to review Dreamology?? I hope so, I keep hearing about it but I’ve yet to see many reviews for it. And A Shadow Burning Bright is definitely the cover I am the most in love with right now, it’s so pretty. Also thanks for including me on the list. I went to it like “yay links, my favourite” and then realized I was on there hahaha.

Have an amazing time at BEA! The hiatus makes lots of sense as I assume you’ll be busy then

  18. Love your monthly recaps as always S! Great month of posts and an awesome haul!! Thanks for including me in your links too — always find great discussion through you! I loved your recent discussion post, too!!
