The 100 Episode 3×12: Demons

Snark

Welcome, welcome! In case you missed last week’s recap, here you go!

Now, if you recall, unlike in book reviews, we do not mind spoiling the hell out of the show, so turn back now if you don’t want to know any of the things! This has been your warning!

OH and while it may be obvious that I don’t like, hang around taking still photos from the show’s set, these pictures aren’t mine, of course. They’re from, you know, the show. And whoever makes GIFs. I try to credit when I think I have found the actual source, but GIFs are hard

Now, let’s do this! Episode 3×12: Demons

I did not like this episode. There, I said it.

Oh no, who could the creepy guy in the cave be?

Maybe it is just me, but I knew it was Emerson as soon as he walked into the cave. Why? Well, I knew that Clarke letting him go was some kind of big flashing “you haven’t seen the last of him!” sign. Plus, when he walked into the cave like… who else could it have even been? Granted, this show is so rarely predictable that I can give it a pass. But I am also not going to lie, this felt like a filler episode to me. Not to say that there weren’t some great moments, because it is The 100 after all!

Never a good life choice, Harps.

The Good

So this episode kind of brings the gang even closer together. On account of they are fighting for their lives inside Arkadia. All while trying to find Lincoln’s notes to get to Luna (sobs) and figure out how to work the stupid ALIE 2 anyway. Sinclair has one last hurrah in helping to figure out the Latin phrase that activates it, and it’s nice to see them working together to solve this stuff!

Then we get some Bellarke moments! Woo hoo, finally. I mean, okay, it isn’t exactly a love scene, but I’ll take a hug, considering this episode wasn’t exactly brimming with stuff for me to list in the “good” column. They also work together a lot this episode and it’s clear that they’re right back on track, looking out for each other no matter what. I swoon.

She runs right to him! Squee!

I’ll also take a Rasper moment while I’m at it. Again, I don’t have a lot to work with, and with Raven losing Sinclair? Fully on board with Team Rasper.

The Bad

I miss Sinclair already. And come on, hasn’t Raven been through enough? Did Emerson really need to kill him? Just stop hurting Raven! Plus I really liked Sinclair. Other than Kane, and occasionally Abby, he’s the only older person I like liked. (And by older, I mean “person only seven years older than me”.)

Oh, and then there’s some creepy music playing, because Emerson is getting to his endgame, and basically, the GIFs do this more justice than I ever could:

Source

So finally, Clarke gets in touch with Emerson. Surprise surprise, he wants to kill them all. But Clarke blames herself for Mt. Weather, and now again for granting Emerson mercy, so she’s planning on turning herself over to him to save her pals. Bellamy has other plans.

So they come up with a half-assed plan, and of course Emerson sees right through it, because seriously, it is not even a plan. And he threatens Octavia, which sends Bellamy running, which causes Emerson to lock them in some kind of poison air filled tank or something, and Clarke begs him to just kill her and let the others go, but Emerson doesn’t exactly strike me as the compromising type?

I suppose they were hoping he’d grown a conscience? Wrong. But he is as cocky and assholey as usual, which gives Clarke a chance to kill him with ALIE2!!

It’s like Sinclair’s parting gift, which makes me that much sadder. Spoiler: Emerson dies.

The Ugly

Seriously Murphy, Judd Nelson circa 1983 called, he wants his wardrobe from The Breakfast Club back.

No for real, in the entirety of Polis, no one can find a clean coat for the “flamekeeper”?!

The Infuriating

It’s like this show took my three least favorite characters (fine, Pike should be there too, but whatever) and shoved them on a super creepy throne. I am so over this storyline. Emori has taken the chip (cue eye roll) and sells Murphy out to Ontari. Who of course also takes the chip. FFS people. I cannot with this anymore. If this story isn’t over by the finale, I am going to start screaming at my TV.

The Traumatizing

I am never, ever going to get over Lincoln’s death. Ever. There, now you understand where the situation is. And since he and Sinclair deserve a proper burial… I cannot, okay. I don’t have words. I have sobs, and nothing else.

This is seriously some kind of awful irony, but also, he is clearly remorseful. The gentleness kills meAnd Octavia… my heart.

And then they have a small service, where I sob even more, if that is possible.

Just… go find all the tissues, and meet me when you’re done.

The Goodbye

I cannot help but be completely certain think that this is the last time some of these people will see each other. And I freaking cannot.

What now!? Why?! Well, Raven can barely walk, and Monty is a mess, and both of them are super smart, so they’re going to stay behind. But they’re going to have guards!

I freaking swear, if anything happens to my girl Harper, I am going to be full of rage. So, Bellamy, Clarke, Octavia, and Jasper (oh, and ALIE2!)take off to find Luna.

This is ominous, no?

The scenes from tonight’s episode look so. intense. Do you have any predictions? I am seriously terrified to even think about what will come next!

  1. This episode was different. Have I mentioned I like Harper? Because yeah… and I didn’t guess it was Emerson! I was like, who’s this dude? I did like the opening scene with Harper and the two guys though- they have a fun dynamic. Although I was like, Harper don’t scream! Shoot his ass!!! lol. I loved the scene too where Clarke and the gang are going into Arkadia- i was hoping for a huge firefight there, that would been awesome. And yes to Bellarke- don’t separate them again please. They need to keep working together, I like the show better when they do.

I hate when characters do stupid things. Like Clarke going with Monty to investigate- do they round everyone up and THEN go? No, they go themselves. Duh. Or when someone knocks out Jasper and Octavia TURNS HER BACK to the door to help him (what’s she gonna do?) and then is surprised she gets captured? Sigh. Not picking on O, it’s just a dumb move I don’t think she’d do. Frickin writers… 🙂

I personally think it’s a bad idea to split up, why would they? Strength in numbers, so yeah that’s irritating. Plus I want Harper with the main crew kicking some butt. She deserves a promotion. 🙂 Murphy is apparently getting his share- Ontari AND Emori? Although the Emori betrayal thing irked me, and Ontari just like that accepting Jaha and Emori- not buying it. Doesn’t it seem like Season 2 was just so much better written?? Well at least Emerson’s gone. I enjoyed him bleeding all over. We’re getting into the home stretch here- what is there, 4 left?

    • Totally agree about those character things that just don’t fit. Like, they’ve been through enough by now to have some common sense! How else have they survived so far? Harper totally would have shot Emerson! I agree that she needs a promotion! I love her too, and Miller. And since they keep killing off the main cast, I guess it’s just a matter of time ?

I feel like the writing has gone back and forth. This episode was… ugh. But the last episode with Raven tied up was amazing. And this past week, it was part awesome but some of the dialogue was… off.

And I agree, no way would Ontari have just accepted the chip. No way. She beheads little kids, but she just takes the chip because Jaha says to? Please. This reminds me that I have to get my post done for this week’s episode!

  2. Rashika

Love you precious. I dont even know how you and your preciousness can exist in this non precious world.
    from, your favorite spud.

  3. haha, I LIKED THIS EPISODE. It wasn’t… great. But honestly whatever followed the epicness of the last one was going to be a disappointment. LOL. Kay, can’t look at the Lincoln scene again without crying. Thanks a lot, Shannon. *sigh* when are we going to get over this? NEVEEEEER. Also omg the Bellarke moments. I pay so much attention to them, and I love it when we get little ones throughout an episode. Remember that time they totally locked eyes when Emerson threatened the group? ugh, it’s everything to me. Also that moment when Octavia and Bellamy looked at each other too just about killed me. THEY BETTER MAKE UP, I NEED MY BLAKE SIBLINGS TO BE OK.

Someone needs to dethrone Alie asap.

    • Ugh, no, I will never, ever get over Lincoln. I’ll be an old lady, still bitching about his death. It’s so sad! And poor O. I cannot. And you’re right about any episode being lame in comparison.

Also if ALIE doesn’t go away soon, I’m going to rebel… or just be passively angry and rant to you guys ?

  4. I, er, also didn’t guess that it was Emerson haha. In fact, I sort of already forgot he existed. Did I mention I don’t remember characters unless they’ve consistently been in a few episodes? Also, I have to say I hope they don’t push Clarke and Bellamy together now. I loved Clarke and Lexa, but I did always agree Clarke and Bellamy had chemistry but now I’m just meeeh because Bellamy’s sort of lost me this season. I hope we’ll find out more about Harper and MIller and whatshisboyfriendsname soon. I agree that this episode felt a bit filler. I like the newest one though! I mean I like all of them obviously, but I am a little over the ALIE plot.

    • I really liked the newest one too! I shall post about it tonight! I don’t know how I even knew it was Emerson! I am usually so clueless with that stuff, but I just knew. Maybe I am so obsessed that I have started channeling the writers? ?

ALIE needs to go. I am so tired of this storyline. I have BEEN tired of it since last season. No more! No more threatening people with other people. Grrrrrr.

Also, Bellarke can’t happen yet, but it definitely needs to ?
