A modern cupid story set in present-day Wisconsin combining the fantastical elements of Greek mythology with the contemporary drama of MTV's Teen Mom.

People don’t understand love. If they did, they’d get why dance prodigy Karma Clark just can’t say goodbye to her boyfriend, Danny. No matter what he says or does or how he hurts her, she can’t stay angry with him . . . and can’t stop loving him. But there’s a reason why Karma is helpless to break things off: she’s been shot with a love arrow. Aaryn, son of Cupid, was supposed to shoot both Karma and Danny but found out too late that the other arrow in his pack was useless. And with that, Karma’s life changed forever. One pregnancy confirmed. One ballet scholarship lost. And dream after dream tossed to the wind.

A clueless Karma doesn’t know that her toxic relationship is Aaryn’s fault . . . but he’s going to get a chance to make things right. He’s here to convince Danny to man up and be there for Karma. But what if this god from Mount Olympus finds himself falling in love with a beautiful dancer from Wisconsin who can never love him in return?

This fast-paced debut novel explores the internal and external conflicts of a girl who finds herself inexplicably drawn to a boy who seemingly doesn't reciprocate her feelings, touching on the issues of love, sex and responsibility, with a heroine struggling to control her destiny--perfect for fans of Katie McGarry's novels and MTV’s 16 and Pregnant.

My Questions/Melissa’s Answers!

1) So, since we are talking love and books, who is your ultimate book boyfriend? Why do you love him so? Does he understand that not everything can be solved with a bow & arrow?

I’m going to have to go with Gilbert Blythe from Anne of Green Gables. He loved Anne for her mind, he was funny, he was imperfect and kind of a fool at times. He supported her so well!

2) And while we’re at it, the bookish couple that makes you swoon the most?

Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones.

3)Now onto actual live humans! Do you have any celebrity crushes we should know about?

Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins and Aaryn, I mean, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.

4) What would your perfect date include?

I’m a bit of a foodie, so dinner at a fabulous restaurant, wine, live music or something in the art scene, and then Netflix and … watch our favorite show!

5) What places do you think would make the most romantic vacation destination(s)?

My sisters and I were just talking about this! So: Tahiti!

6) Do you have a song that makes you feel all lovey inside and makes your heart turn to mush? Is there a special song you share with someone?

My wedding song was Such Great Heights by Iron & Wine. I still love it!

7) And moving back outside of humans, what is one inanimate thing that you love and simply cannot live without?

Is it lame to say coffee? I do love it a lot.

Thanks so much, Melissa! ♥ And nope, not lame- coffee is probably my answer too!  (Also, your wedding song? On point. I love that song.)

  1. As a foodie myself, that perfect date sounds pretty perfect for me! 🙂 And Tahiti! I’ve never been but it looks stunning!
I have a copy of this and I’m excited to read it.

  2. This sounds like a really cute idea. I don’t think cupid’s arrow would be a good idea in real life. I would have used it so many times, on the wrong people. Bad romances got me to my Miguel, and made me appreciate him so much. I wouldn’t want someone to use it on me.

  3. This book sounds really cute. I hope I get the chance to read it sometime.

If I could hit any fictional character with a cupid’s arrow it would probably be my new bae, Sam, from Wanderlost. He was so cute and perfect, I just loved him!

  4. Never heard of this one till I read this post! It seems quite interesting and pretty cute, don’t think I’ve read anything like it before.

The only thing that has me a little wary is the fact the toxic relationship may be downplayed, like oh it’s all just because of cupid’s arrow the MC can’t get over her bf or Danny’s behavior is excusable/explained by the arrow. I just think toxic/unhealthy relationships are such a big issue and the promotion or treating them lightly is a fear of mine. I don’t know what the story will be like and I doubt it’d go down that route by that’s just my little bit of fear towards it. I’m probably overreacting as usual :p I’m still really curious about it though and the author seems really sweet given the interview (:

    Great questions and loved reading the answers (: Now I really want to go to Tahiti haha, wanna be my travel bud? [;

  5. This is such a fun post! I would completely have to go with William Herondale, because, well, HE IS WILL HERONDALE! He is so beyond words. I. just. can’t.

  6. I love the sound of this book – Contemporary + Greek mythology?? HELL YES 😀
If I could hit any fictional character with Cupid’s Arrow…it would have to be Jem Carstairs! 😀 Such a sweet guy – definitely want someone like him to be around! 🙂
