The 100 Episode 3×05 “Hakeldama”

Snark

Welcome, welcome! My lovely friends shall be joining us again- I uhh may have posted last week without them even having a chance to say anything. I am mildly sorry.

Now, if you recall, unlike in book reviews, we do not mind spoiling the hell out of the show, so turn back now if you don’t want to know any of the things! This has been your warning!

OH and while it may be obvious that I don’t like, hang around taking still photos from the show’s set, these pictures aren’t mine, of course. They’re from, you know, the show.

Now, let’s do this! Episode 3×05: Hakeldama

In which I am not okay.

@

Oy. So look, I know in terms of like, not my emotions, it was a quality episode. But I cannot help being so angry by Pillamy (Pike+Bellamy). I mean, sure, we knew the massacre was coming. And thank goodness they didn’t make us watch because I seriously could not. But the aftermath? No worries, it’s definitely as horrible as you’d assume. Mount Weather was heartbreaking too- but it served a purpose. There was no better choice, no alternative. This? This was just killing to kill. And it was done so cowardly. So. Fucking. Cowardly.

Like, really Pillamy? Really? The only thing Bellamy did right was save Indra. Which isn’t enough. But I am glad he saved her regardless. And my friends, they tried to talk me down. Because I was so, so mad.

But alas, I could not be calmed.

The Evolution of Pillamy

Let’s just go ahead and make a list of shitty things Pillamy did this episode:

  • Killed 300 Grounders. Obviously, this is the most egregious offense, but we knew this.
  • Locked up all the Grounders– meaning, the sick people that Abby and Co. were attempting to help, and Lincoln– into what can only be described as an internment camp. In fact, Pike may have used those words? Anyway, I did not like seeing any of them behind bars, and especially not Lincoln. It was all so hateful and horrible.
  • Plots to basically take out Polis– including random, innocent citizens.
  • Bellamy’s willingness to turn Clarke over to Pike. He had to have known what the consequences would be, no?

Obviously, that last point requires explanation. We all had a serious case of the sads watching Clarke’s interaction with Bellamy. She had such faith in him, to the point that she convinced Lexa, had Octavia sneak her in, and truly believed he’d help her, not handcuff her. It broke my fangirl heart, okay?

GAH, look at her face change- from loving to confusion.

Around Arkadia…

Jaha is back with his own special brand of crazy. Of course, A.L.I.E is with him since he ingested her or whatever. And she wants him to recruit more people. As you do. So he sets his sights on Raven, who is basically crazy damaged, physically and emotionally, so ALIE thinks he can convert her. First he does a meet and greet with everyone who basically assumed he was dead. He interacts with Kane:

Who clearly realizes that Jaha has gone off the deep end.

Speaking of, we have random thoughts on Kane:

Of course, it’s just another day at the office for Archduke Vladimir Pike, Chancellor (he got promoted, I guess)

Ah, Pike, always making good life choices by letting a clearly insane Jaha have free reign on Arkadia.

So, does Raven swallow the strange computer chip given to her by a raving madman? Even though she insists that she needs no help? Of course she does. And by the end of the episode, she’s prancing around Arkadia like a schoolgirl, ALIE following close behind. Because that shit isn’t creepy at all….

Oh and also? Miller wins the episode. Because even though he’s pretending to be under Pillamy’s command, he is not. And I love the actual fuck out of him for it.

Best. Character Development. Ever.

And even though it’s way too brief, Clarke’s encounter with Abby was really sweet. And it shows that even though she’s the mom, Abby has finally realized that Clarke knows what she has to do- and that Abby can’t do anything to make it better, just be there for her.

And elsewhere in Whatever the Hell this whole place is called….

Murphy is alive! Actually, Memori (Murphy and Emori‘s very fun ship name) are alive. And scamming people, because of course they are. Only, things don’t go great. And now Murphy is being held by, I don’t even know, Ice People? But I can’t actually find any pictures of that, so here’s some Memori for you:

Must Blood Have Blood?

Clarke is distraught after she escapes Bellamy and gets back to Lexa and Indra. She knows that this is going to end so, so badly. So Clarke tries to reason this out with Lexa. How everyone will die if they don’t stop fighting.

And… just watch it if you haven’t seen it:

GUYS. As I was typing this post…. A.L.I.E. = A LIE. A lie. Coincidence? I need opinions!

What did you make of all this? Thoughts on what will happen next?

  1. Oh this show. Just when I get all geeked about it again, this pull this crap. Pillamy… love it! But yeah, I cannot believe Bellamy would go along with that. Just no. I mean he’s basically a murderer now. Mt. Weather- they didn’t really have a choice. Here- no way. Did they get all new writers?? And Bellamy taking Clarke to Pike? That’s when it became pretty much unforgivable for me- I can’t see him EVER turning Clarke over, I’m sorry. Bullshit.

I didn’t think I could hate Jaha any more, but I do. Someone shoot him.

How long do we think Lexa will go with peace? I’m surprised frankly and not convinced she isn’t going to pull something. I almost hope she does- peace is no fun! And the Arker’s are pretty stupid for electing Pike anyway, so screw ’em.

    Ooh ALIE = a Lie. I didn’t catch that. Coincidence? I thinketh not… hmm…

    • YEP. I was so mad about this episode. SO. MAD. Why would they do this to us? And Bellamy? He didn’t deserve this! And I agree with you- it seems like new writers, or something, because it’s just too strange of a character change- and WAY too sudden. There’s no way he’d turn Clarke over- ever. Not even to save his own life. MAYBE to save Octavia, but that is IT. And that wasn’t the case at all here.

Jaha DOES need to be shot. Maybe Lexa can shoot him! Then we’d get violence AND no Jaha. A win-win 😀 I don’t think it will last at all. I think she’s trying so hard to gain Clarke’s trust back, but there is no WAY it won’t backfire.

And the ALIE thing? I mean, I always thought the City of Light stuff was nonsense, especially after we found out it’s virtual reality, so it being A LIE makes total sense!

  2. OH my GOSH , I was so disappointed in Bellamy. It just doesn’t make sense that he’d go out and kill the grounders, after all they’ve done for his people. I felt like it was so fake, I don’t think the real Bellamy would do that. So, where did he go? T.T And even though the people voted for Pike I think they should take his Chancellor thing away. I mean Pike just came in, he doesn’t know where they are or how these grounders are. So why does the sky people belive them xP AHDIWKDNNWJW IT’S STRESSING ME OUT! I can’t wait for the next episode though xD

    • Me too 🙁 He is so much better than this! It WAS fake- Bellamy could not and would not have done a complete 180 in like, a week. How?!

And I TOTALLY agree about Pike! Why did Kane and Abby even allow his name on the ballad? They should have been “nope, sorry new guy, next time”, and then they wouldn’t have had to worry about it. They should have run him over with their Jeep when they first encountered him, would have saved us all a lot of trouble 😉

I can’t wait for it either! Tonight!!!! Fingers crossed that it’s not horrible!

  3. Oh A Lie I never caught that! Clever. And yeah, all the points for Miller and Kane, none for Bellamy and MINUE TEN THOUSAND for Pike.
