Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is: Top Ten Inspiring Quotes from Books (anything that inspires you, challenges you, makes you think, encourages you, etc.)
This is hard. I love quotes, ironically, but I never manage to write them down or keep them in any kind of nice place. So for this particular exercise, I’m pretty much screwed. I shall scour Goodreads’ quotes section, looking for my very favorite books, and I’ll try to find 10. Deal? Fantastic. Then, I will look at all of your quotes, and see what a shoddy job I have done and resolve to write quotes down in the future. This shall last for approximately seven chapters of one book.
These graphics link to Goodreads, as always 😀
I could have put the entirety of I’ll Give You the Sun and TFIOS on my list this week- both are very beautifully written! I need to pick up A Darker Shade of Magic soon! It sounds very action packed. Great list!
They really are! Picking TFIOS quotes was like freaking Sophie’s Choice! And I’ll Give You the Sun was so beautifully written also. It was HARD. And I enjoyed ADSOM! Thanks 🙂
Great choices. I love that Chaos Walking quote. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Check out my TTT.
Aw thanks!
I think you did a pretty good job. I love the Delirium, Mockingjay and Ruin & Rising quotes. A few of these I did write down when I came across them, others just stuck in my head. Of course, I did consult Goodreads to get the all the wording right. It was easier then I thought it would be.

Aw thanks 🙂 It took me seriously forever. Like, a solid 10 hours, which is way too much time to spend on one blog post! But once I started, I didn’t want to quit hahah.
I love love loveeee your creativity at displaying these~ And love the quotes 🙂
Aww thank you!!
Fabulous choices as ever! I love that quote from I’ll Give You The Sun. I can’t wait to read it! I also really like the quote from Throne of Glass.
Aw thanks! I’ll Give You the Sun has a LOT of amazing quotes, it is beautifully written 🙂 Hope you enjoy it!
These are gorgeous! Some old favourites, but a couple of books on my TBR pile that I have to read NOW with those quotes inside!
My TTT
Aww thank you! Hope you enjoy 🙂
Great list, Shannon! I love that quote from A Darker Shade of Magic. 🙂
Aw thanks!!
Love the style and formatting of the post. Did you do it yourself? Its amazing 😀 Excellent choice of quotes. Here’s mine https://ireadboooks.wordpress.com/2015/04/14/top-ten-inspiring-quotes-about-books/
Aw thank you so much! I did indeed 🙂 And you just made my day!
I love that ToG quote (it’s on my list too). I actually have a sticker of it on my bed post at home
Aw that is perfect! I need to get more quote-inspired stuff, I love quotes but I never remember them!
I love how you formatted this with the covers. The Mockingjay quote is such a good one and I haven’t come across that one before. Throne of Glass has been on my TBR for awhile and I really like the excerpt. Great quotes!
Aw thank you so much! The Mockingjay one really pulls at me because of the context of the scene too, I just… the feels, ugh! 🙂
I am just like you!! I didn’t do this week’s TTT, but if I had, I would have had to resort to Goodreads for my quotes as well. There are so many great ones, but almost never write them down.
Honestly, be glad you didn’t, because the damn post took me about 10 hours to do. I sat here planning to get SIX posts done and instead… just this one. It was bad. I am mildly pleased with the end result, but not 10 hours worth of pleased 😉
Yikes!! You are WAY more dedicated than I am!! 🙂
Crazy. The word you are looking for is crazy 😉
I did that too! I LOVE quotes, but I tend to forget to write them down as well. So I went through the quotes that I already liked on Goodreads, and then searched through my favorite authors. Sometimes I was looking for a specific quote that I remembered liking but didn’t remember all the words.
Your list is wonderful! I love the quotes you picked! I haven’t read all of the books that you picked from yet, but the quotes are awesome. It makes me even more excited to get to read them sometime.
I also really like the graphics you made! 😀
Aw thanks so much! I spent HOURS searching on Goodreads- mostly through my favorite books, just because I figured they’d have been ones with quotes that resonated? I was just glad I finally found 10 😉
I love the quotes I have been seeing almost everywhere – I liked the quotes I’ve seen of Throne of Glass and I’ll Give You The Sun – wonderful post Shannon <3
Aw thanks so much!!
Good choices! I like them all!
My TTT
Thank you 🙂
I SEE THAT ADSOM QUOTE! ISN’T IT BEAUTIFUL. Also your graphics <3 <3
Aww, thanks Val! And YES, I love that quote! That was the turning point in the book for me too, where I went from “yeah it’s decent” to “wow, this book is GOOD!” 😀
Shannon! I love the graphic backgrounds you used! What’d you use for them? They’re so pretty. <3
Yay! The ADSOM quotes again. <3 You and Val both used it, it's so great. I need to read that book. I really love the The Knife of Never Letting Go quote. Great choices.
Thanks so much! I found the frame on some random site offering freebies, and then did the rest using PicMonkey! I really loved that quote from ADSOM, I want it on my wall or something 😉
Love these quotes!! I have never read Throne of Glass, but I love that quote. And there were so many quotables from I’ll Give You The Sun. That is one of my favorite books.
Thanks! I agree, the quotes from I’ll Give You the Sun could fill a whole post!
Great list, and I really like how you set it up.
Aw, thank you so much!
The Ruin & Rising quote is beautiful. Stunning choices 🙂
Aw, thank you so much!
These are excellent choices! I LOVE that Jandy Nelson quote. So beautiful. I’m sure we could quote that entire book haha.
Thanks so much! I agree, that book has SO many lovely quotes, it was hard to pick just one!
Love your selection! I really like that ADSOM quote too. x
THAT THRONE OF GLASS ONE. 😀 😀 (also when are we going to discuss that?) THE ADSOM ONE! <3 <3 And gah, that Ruin and Rising one? WHO SAID THAT YOU NEED TO HELP ME REMEMBER.
Also, I knew that Mockingjay would be on here. I KNEW IT.
