Most Excellent Excerpts

TTT

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is: Top Ten Inspiring Quotes from Books (anything that inspires you, challenges you, makes you think, encourages you, etc.)

This is hard. I love quotes, ironically, but I never manage to write them down or keep them in any kind of nice place. So for this particular exercise, I’m pretty much screwed. I shall scour Goodreads’ quotes section, looking for my very favorite books, and I’ll try to find 10. Deal? Fantastic. Then, I will look at all of your quotes, and see what a shoddy job I have done and resolve to write quotes down in the future. This shall last for approximately seven chapters of one book.

These graphics link to Goodreads, as always 😀

  1. I could have put the entirety of I’ll Give You the Sun and TFIOS on my list this week- both are very beautifully written! I need to pick up A Darker Shade of Magic soon! It sounds very action packed. Great list!

    • They really are! Picking TFIOS quotes was like freaking Sophie’s Choice! And I’ll Give You the Sun was so beautifully written also. It was HARD. And I enjoyed ADSOM! Thanks 🙂

  2. I think you did a pretty good job. I love the Delirium, Mockingjay and Ruin & Rising quotes. A few of these I did write down when I came across them, others just stuck in my head. Of course, I did consult Goodreads to get the all the wording right. It was easier then I thought it would be.

  3. I did that too! I LOVE quotes, but I tend to forget to write them down as well. So I went through the quotes that I already liked on Goodreads, and then searched through my favorite authors. Sometimes I was looking for a specific quote that I remembered liking but didn’t remember all the words.
Your list is wonderful! I love the quotes you picked! I haven’t read all of the books that you picked from yet, but the quotes are awesome. It makes me even more excited to get to read them sometime.
I also really like the graphics you made! 😀

    • Aw thanks so much! I spent HOURS searching on Goodreads- mostly through my favorite books, just because I figured they’d have been ones with quotes that resonated? I was just glad I finally found 10 😉

  4. I love the quotes I have been seeing almost everywhere – I liked the quotes I’ve seen of Throne of Glass and I’ll Give You The Sun – wonderful post Shannon <3

  5. Shannon! I love the graphic backgrounds you used! What’d you use for them? They’re so pretty. <3

Yay! The ADSOM quotes again. <3 You and Val both used it, it's so great. I need to read that book. I really love the The Knife of Never Letting Go quote. Great choices.

    • Thanks so much! I found the frame on some random site offering freebies, and then did the rest using PicMonkey! I really loved that quote from ADSOM, I want it on my wall or something 😉

  6. Love these quotes!! I have never read Throne of Glass, but I love that quote. And there were so many quotables from I’ll Give You The Sun. That is one of my favorite books.

  7. THAT THRONE OF GLASS ONE. 😀 😀 (also when are we going to discuss that?) THE ADSOM ONE! <3 <3 And gah, that Ruin and Rising one? WHO SAID THAT YOU NEED TO HELP ME REMEMBER.

Also, I knew that Mockingjay would be on here. I KNEW IT.
