Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It gives us a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or got for review each week. I also decided that since I do a weekly recap, it really is just good sense to link up with The Sunday Post, hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer!
The Books
Across the Universe by Beth Revis
Via BookOutlet. There were also Berenstain Bears books but… yeah. I am also trying not to care that this Across the Universe doesn’t have the pretty cover.

Weekly Shenanigans
I read stuff.
I must say, I enjoyed them both! I think I enjoyed The Fire Sermon a bit more than I thought I would, and Twist maybe a tiny bit less than I expected, but I did really like them both.
On the Blog:
- I reviewed Cut Me Free by J.R. Johansson on Monday
- Tuesday’s Top Ten was all about our Bookish Problems (and one of mine, apparently, is that I still haven’t responded to all my comments. Sorry, I am working on it!)
- The 100 episode 2.12, “Rubicon” was featured on Wednesday’s Snark From the Ark with Holly @ The Fox’s Hideaway
- On Thursday, I revealed the first part of the blogger survey results!
- And I took part in the blog tour Review & Giveaway for A Wicked Thing by Rhiannon Thomas on Friday
Still lots of time left for February’s Discussion Challenge link up and giveaway!! And one week left in the February New Release Giveaway Hop! It seems so short because, well, February is short!
Fun in the Blogosphere:

Things. Stuff. Reviews, and um, talk about books? I don’t know. I have a lot of books to review, so it depends on which ones strike my fancy at that moment. (Fine, it depends on whether I feel like writing a glowing review or a not-so-glowing review.) And, I am going to be discussing the ever popular and controversial topic of ARCs, via the survey results!
Nice haul of books. Fire Sermon has gotten some positive buzz. Glad to hear that you liked it.
Grace @ Books of Love
I was nervous, because I had heard a few not-so-great things, but luckily it was pretty good for me!
Great haul of books! I just got approved for the ARC of Only Ever Yours. I am very excited about that one.
YESSS! I am commenting on that on your blog as we speak, because you NEED that book.
Ugh, YES, I’m glad for March. I don’t know why…but February has been draaaaagging along and the weather has been awful. Except, um, March is the start of Autumn and I’m not okay with that. BRING BACK MY SUUUUUUUMMER. *prances around like Olaf for a moment*
Oh yes, this is not fun for you lovely people in the southern hemisphere. I am sorry 🙁 Does it get very cold in the winters where you are? It was -12 here last night. I don’t know what that means in Celsius, but it’s pretty damn cold in Fahrenheit. (Okay, I googled, it is -23 Celsius. Sorry that we Americans can’t/won’t get our acts together when it comes to measurement.)
Lovely selection of books this week! I’m looking forward to reading Across The Universe. Boo for your copy not having the pretty cover! The story is the same regardless, but I know how much us bookworms like a pretty cover! 😀 Enjoy your new books!
Thanks! I LOVE the sparkly, colorful cover. This one is… blah. But hopefully the inside is still good 🙂
I really want pretty covers too though not a requisite but not something I wouldn’t mind.
My Stacking the Shelves!
Hahha yes, exactly! I don’t need them, but I want them 😉
I’m really curious about Devoted! I didn’t think it would be a book for me, but early word has been good. Will be looking for your review!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, lady!
Thanks! I am pretty curious about it myself 😉 I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!
Wooot! I love the Across the Universe series! And while I enjoyed Jennifer Mathieu’s debut novel, I couldn’t bring myself to getting Devoted. Contemporary already isn’t my thing, and I have a feeling that Devoted wouldn’t sit well with me. Buuuut, I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
Have a fabulous week, Shannon 🙂
Check out my STS post!
I am weird with contemporary in general, and I like stuff that is a bit out of the ordinary (which this seems to be!) so hopefully I will get along with it! Thanks, hope you have a great week too!
I’m looking forward to The Fire Sermon. My copy of Across the Universe has the pretty cover, but shamefully, I haven’t read it yet. I did see that the Book Outlet (aka, the Book DEVIL) has the rest of the series for cheap, so I’ll probably grab those soon. Have a great weekend! Happy reading!
Michelle @ Michelle’s Minions
I LOVE “Book DEVIL”, how true is that!? I almost bought the whole series, but then I reminded myself that it’s ridiculous since I hadn’t even read the first one! Hope you have a great weekend too 🙂
Is Across the Universe a sequel to something? Too many books out there with Universe in the title hahaha! YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE BERENSTAIN BEARS BOOKS FOR YOUR KIDS! COME ON SHANNON! Just kidding 🙂 You should bring up one book so you can read it to both me and Holly at BEA 😉 Ooooo you read Twist. I still have to read Loop, soooo. It will happen one day.
YAY FOR A GOOD READING WEEK. I’m trying to reply to all the comments now, so getting rid of that problem…slowly.
I DID buy them the Berenstain Bears! I just didn’t take pictures of them, because I figured none of you would care 😉 Please, i always buy The BBs! I will tuck you and Holly in with a BB book at BEA for sure. It’ll be so cute hahah.
I haven’t read any of these but happy reading!

Thanks!
Great haul! I was disappointed with the cover change of Across the Universe too. Oh, well! The book is still amazing! I’ve heard pretty good things about Origin. I hope you enjoy your books and have a great week! 🙂
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
Thanks so much! I agree, such a bummer of a cover change! Hope you have a great week too 🙂
Oh, Where the Staircase Ends looks really interesting, I’m going to have to check that one out!
I hope you enjoy all of your new books 🙂
Thanks so much!
I feel like I missed out on half my week because I had a cold and didn’t leave bed for two days… I did rewatch Mean Girls like three times though, so at least I kept busy.
The survey results were so awesome and I can’t wait to see the post about ARCs. Hope you had an awesome week, Shannon! =)
Oh no! I hope you are feeling better! But Mean Girls is one of those movies you can watch 100 times, no? Thanks so much!
I am happier to be one day closer to spring. And, I am tired of snow! Have a great week!
Thanks! I am right there with you- enough with the snow!
Ooh, nice haul 🙂 Man, it feels like it was December yesterday! I can’t believe February is almost over 🙁 I hope you have a great week and enjoy those new books!

Thanks! I am pretty happy that the winter is almost over, but it did go fast!
You have some amazing books there! I hope you enjoy them
Come and check out OUaT’s STS and ENTER our giveaways!
Thanks so much!
Great books this week! Several of them are on my TBR as well, so I hope to get to them in the near future. I also like how you have included your blog posts from the week, as well as blog posts from other blogs. Very cool! Happy reading!

Thanks so much! I hope you get to read them soon too 🙂
February can’t be gone fast enough ! Enjoy your book haul and enjoy your week 😉
I agree! Thanks, you too!
Sounds like a great week – I don’t know why you didn’t show us those Berenstein Bears books, though. 🙂
Bwhahaha I know, right? My daughter is addicted to those things! I used to have a lot as a kid, it would have saved me a TON of money if I still had them all 😉
