Oh, Hello! Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2014

TTT

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is: Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2014. These are also authors I will be needing lots more of in 2015!  Since debut authors are new to everyone, I will try to keep this to already published authors. Listed in Alphabetical Order, with the book(s) I have read! Pictures link to Goodreads. 20945757

th (6)Ann Aguirre

I am excited to read the rest of the 2B trilogy, as well as start the Razorland series, since I own the whole thing. And next year, I am looking forward to reading The Queen of Bright and Shiny Things.

4575289Leigh Bardugo10194157

I adored The Grisha series, and cannot wait for Six of Crows!

25422Holly Black 20958632

I did not know how much I would love The Darkest Part of the Forest, and now I am eager to read more Holly Black. I own and want to read The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, and am pretty much open to suggestions!

767317Aimee Carter 10838787

Obviously, I need to read the rest of  The Blackcoat Rebellion series. I haven’t really heard a ton about the Goddess Test series, but I am open to reading!

151371Jenny Han 15749186

Of course, it goes without saying that I absolutely need P.S. I Still Love You. I also want to try the Burn for Burn series.

1651879A.S. King 17453303

I loved Glory O’Brien so much that I promptly added pretty much every other book she’s written to my TBR and wishlist.

4684322Marissa Meyer 12973964

Of course I need to read the rest of The Lunar Chronicles. You guys were right. I should not have waited so long to jump on board!

2982266Jandy Nelson 20820994

I already own and want to read The Sky is Everywhere. And um, have you heard about Fall Boys & Dizzy in Paradise? I will be needing that um, now. Or 2017. Whichever.

3036304Caragh M. O’Brien20518838

The next book in this series (The Rule of Mirrors) is set for next for August 2015, and I’d also love to get around to reading the Birthmarked series someday. Since again, I own it.

3251728

Victoria Scott

I need Salt & Stone in my life, but apparently no one else agrees with me and is making me wait until February. I do not like this. Also, I am excited to read her novella, Four HousesAnd I’d like to read the Dante Walker series at some juncture too.

So, which authors are new to you this year? There were more I wanted to add, but I had to try to play by the rules (just this once, don’t get too excited)

    • I know what you mean, I see some of these lists and think “oh crap, I wanted to read THAT book too!”. It’s never ending, I swear 😉

To All the Boys is SO good, I hope you love it! And I will have to check out The Summer I Turned Pretty too, thanks for the recommendation!

  1. I’ve heard really incredible things about Cinder but I’m waiting for Winter to come out so that I can marathon all the books! 🙂

I’ve only read the Burn for Burn trilogy (only first 2 books) and I didn’t LOVE it, though I did enjoy it!

Shadow and Bone was pretty great!

I’ll Give You the Sun has a bajillion holds at the library… *pouts*

    Awesome post!

    • That is a good idea! I actually have Scarlet and Cress, but haven’t gotten to them yet, sadly. And I hear they are even better than Cinder. Hopefully soon!

And I’ll Give You the Sun is really worth reading, I hope you get the chance soon!

  2. First, I didn’t think it was possible but I like the look of your blog even more now, and I was just here yesterday!

Second of all, Jandy Nelson also made my list, because yes. She is awesome. =)

I’ve read the first Razerland book(like when it first came out) and remember really liking it but I haven’t read any more of Ann Aguirre’s stuff! You’ve successfully made me realize that there are so so many books I still need to read!

    • I loved the entire Grisha series, I don’t know why I waited so long to read it, BUT at least I got to (almost) binge read it! And yes, you must read I’ll Give You the Sun, it was so, so good!

  3. Marissa Meyer! HOW AMAZING IS SHE? Gah, Cinder was just everything and really changed my view on fairytale retellings, which up until then I’d always been hesitant about. And now I’m obsessed with ’em!

  4. I did this list on my blog too, but I completely missed Holly Black! I loved The Coldest Girl in Coldtown. I can’t wait to read her next book. 🙂

  5. I LIKE YOUR NEW LOOK SHANNNNON!

Ok ok, I haven’t read Fire and Flood yet sadly, BUT HAHAHAHHA EVERYONE TOLD YOU TO READ CINDER. I’m glad you super enjoyed it though. I would love to read more Holly Black, it’s just that I read one of her books, Tithe, when I was younger, and I was so scarred by it that I haven’t read any of her other books since haha. But it will happen one day.

    🙂

  6. I love your list. You have some of my favorite contemporary authors on it. I haven’t read the Burn for Burn series by Jenny Han yet, but her first series, starting with the Summer I Turned Pretty, was pretty awesome. I also have shamefully not gotten to Jandy Nelson’s new book, although her first one is one of my all time favorites.

  7. Wow! Nice new layout! Bardugo made my list too! Holly Black didn’t because I’d read the Spiderwick Chronicles years ago. Yay! It’s good to be right. I’m glad you enjoyed Cinder. 🙂 I really need to get to Pawn. Every author I read this year was new to me! Which made making my list quite tricky this week.

    • Aw thank you! I cannot believe that every author was new, that is SO impressive! I had a hard time narrowing it down too, but I tried to pick authors with more books that I could pull from my TBR list, that was my only way to narrow the field. I think I got a ton of great suggestions from other bloggers, hence the influx of new authors!

  8. I said the EXACT same thing about Holly Black on my list today! That’s kind of creepy 😛 I’ve heard that her other faerie trilogy is AMAZING, so maybe try that one too?

I’d say stick with the Blackcoat books for Carter; I didn’t really have a good experience with the Goddess test books. But maybe you’ll like them more!

I’ve heard so much about Jandy Nelson that I’m kind of afraid there’s too much hype for her books to live up to, but I’m going to try I’ll Give You the Sun anyway. It was too pretty not to buy!

    • Hahah that’s funny! I didn’t know there was another faerie trilogy, I am off to check that out for sure! I adored I’ll Give You the Sun, and I cannot wait to read The Sky Is Everywhere- I agree though, LOTS of hype to live up to!

  9. The only authors I have read from your list are Victoria Scott and Marissa Meyer. I think this means I still have a long way to go, since I want to read all of those from your list.

Oh, and I actually read Summer series from Jenny Han, but I almost forgot about that, lol
